Marylin,

You are such a brave lady. I admire you.

...

I ditto what Lyuba said. (F)

it is funny because I don't feel very brave or courageous

It's like you are open about things, something that would be very hard for some people, so I find that to be brave. You might not feel like it's a brave thing. I pray you continue to heal from this very hard situation. Is going to the counselor helping? Have you gone again or just the one time so far?

Well, having read some very good points from all of you, I think another very key factor is trusting your doctor.

Bingo. Although C-section is a forgone conclusion for me, having a doctor I trust makes everything alot better. He leaves absolutely no question or concern un answered. Feeling comfortable with your doc and his/her plans vs. your expectations is important.

do you guys have any tried and true ways of getting your breasts to stop producing milk??.... I have been wearing my bra but it is not very comfortable wearing that day and night :P and then I think it has stopped so I take it off and nope, it starts again... it is getting very frustrating.....

I was reading that they don't encourage women to bind their chests anymore ...

Well I would also suggest binding off and on. But if it concerns you, try and find a comfortable sleeping bra. I have found the offerings at Motherhood Maternity's nursing bras to be quite comfortable. And of course you can shop via their website to avoid salespeople with too many questions. Ive been lactating for months, but its always more prolific when Im braless, so I have to sleep with one on now too. Just stuff some nursing pads in a comfortable bra and allow time for the milk production to taper off. And unless your feeling alot of breast pain, I would say dont express any milk on purpose.

Marylin,

Double Ditto. I can only hope to be half as brave as Marilyn in much less daunting circumstances.

I think my husband is jumping the gun a lot. He went out yesterday and purchased about 3 shopping bags of baby clothes and two huge toys for our little girl. He brought them home after work. I told him that I did not want to start buying things until early April.

What do you guys think-too early?

He bought:

mittens, hats, bibs, sleepers, summer outfits, shoes, socks, receiving blankets, and whatever else the salesperson thought would be a good idea.

Nah. Ahmed and I started buying an outfit or something every week after we found out we were having a boy. We tried to put the skids on it after a few weeks and wait to see what sort of loot we got at the baby shower, though. Of course there's some stuff you can never have too many of, so go nuts on the shopping. It tickles my fancy to see my hubby buying cute things for his son. He's excited.

Just out of curiousty, how many of us are looking forward to sleeping on your stomach again? I have the worste time sleeping now and nothing is comfortable at all. In addition, someone parties like a rock star for most of the night. I am going to have a night owl on my hands.

I have never slept on my stomach. I have always slept on my side and back. I can't imagine if I was use to sleeping on my stomach. Rock Star LOL.

Welcome Jeremy! Congratulations to u!

I found out today we are having a BOY. We knew before, but today we went again to a 3rd place and my dr has said boy twice, and then a different one and now today...all without knowing what my dr predicted. So looks like we are having a Joshua Haress in June. He weighs about 8oz right now.

I wont get another ultrasound til 24-25wks because im leaving for NY on Sat and my dr in the states uses a hand held doppler to listen for hearttones, unlike my dr here who does a qucik scan at each appt.

Congrats on the boy

That is what the nurses at my hospital said too. They said to stay home as long as possible. They said that if you can still talk through contractions and they aren't closer than 5 min apart, stay home if you don't want to have pitocin and other inducing drugs, because doctors and hospitals want to move ladies through labor. The max is 12 hours that they want you laboring to have the baby. So if you want natural, wait it out at home. That is what I am going to try.

How far is your hospital from your house? I would be nervous to wait until they are 5 mins apart because my hospital is 50 mins away. I guess I could wait at my aunts house and then go to the hospital but that seems weird.

I enjoy his excitement, but I do not want to sound dreadful-but anything can happen. He bought a lot of stuff. It worries me.

If the nursery was together, it would be easier to put these things away.

I read in MENA that you still have that horrible taste in your mouth, true?

My husband smelled my breath today and although he did not say anything..he felt like saying, "your breath is horrible". When does it end-if ever??????

I can understand your hesitance about his purchases. Its that nagging little voice in the back of your mind that tells you if you get too settled or too prepared, you're going to get thrown for a loop. I say enjoy the goodies :) I looooove playing with all the neat-o stuff I got from the shower. Im anxious to start packing our 'special day bag', but I still need some of the stuff for me that goes in it. We dont really have a nursery set up either, so dont feel bad. Its hard to be organized without a set space for baby.

Yeah sometimes I still have that nasty sour dirty sock taste, but its usually from nausea. When I dont get enough rest, stress too much, or just overdo it in general I get sick. And unfortunately bad breath is my constant companion. You know its bad when you can smell it yourself . I just brush and rinse extra often. And have alot of mint gum on hand.

I started getting my bag together for our special day

I have my robe, gown, tennis balls (for massage) and nursing bras in it. Then the going home outfit, some socks for him, a hat for him and a bib. There is more to do, but it was fun getting out the suitcase :)

I did not sleep AT ALL!! last night. None. I am so tired this morning at work and I did have a cup of coffee and would love 10 more, but I know that would make the baby nuts, so I am trying to resist.

I have an u/s tomorrow and I can't wait to see what they say. I know we are close, but it still I know it will not be this week so it seems so far. I can't wait to see what he looks like.

Labor dust to all those close to delivery! I can't wait to see pictures!!!

How is everyone feeling today?? I am a little sore in the crotch area and super tired.
