So its official. I have bn having very bad cramps in my lower abdomen and backache with tender tummy, headaches, chills and mild fever for 2 days (Since I went to see my endocrinologist and used the restroom there). I've got UTI and my doc gave me 7 days antibiotics and has also told me if it doesn't seem to get better by tomorrow, might need to go to the hospital emergency.

I'm just depressed and missing Daniel right now that the innitial shock has worn off. I was upset with him and everybody for sometime for leaving me all alone after I got to know. Thats worn off now.

To all the expectant mothers- Please be careful which restrooms you go to and carry some antibactirial wipes made for down there. Trust me you don't want to get this. I couldn't have guessed it coz I don't have burning or urge to urinate all the time but my bladder is being pushed down by the uterus and thats making it easier to get infection.

@DanielParul: Oh no, I hope you are better soon. I never in my life had a UTI (knockonwood) and I hope I'll never get one. How bad must it be during pregnancy. Take care, ok?

I'm mad at my DH too for leaving me alone with two kids. Seems like he's always out the door when the kids are the crankiest. The evening is always bad, around 5pm I have a madhouse here. Everybody hungry, the house in a mess, Allie screaming, Adam bouncing off the wall ....and DH going off to a hunting trip asking me where his ####### is...argh. I'm getting better in staying calm in these situations. There's no need for me to scream too.

Thanks Eveline, I can totally understand being alone but I figured out after I cooled down, its not his fault, poor thing will be so worried and can't do anything.

Maybe you need to head out for a shopping trip a couple of times leaving DH with the kids, that will be an experience for him

Well...my doctors are pretty sure I have preeclampsia. I told you all about the appointments Monday and how my BP was high, but I was told to take it easy and see the perinatalogist twice a week. Since I am a teacher and we have school nurses on campus, I went to the school nurse Tuesday and had her take my bp. It was 150 / 100 ! I called my OB's office and they scheduled for me to go in Wednesday. In the meantime, I had the school nurse take it again Wednesday morning. It was still 150/100. At the OB's office it ended up being 140/100. My OB told me that since I was misbehaving, I got a direct pass to the hospital. So Wednesday afternoon I came to labor and delivery triage and they were monitoring the babies and my bp. It was only rising while sitting there for 2.5 hours. That resulted in my admission to the hospital Wednesday evening. It was kind of scary at first because I got the distinct impression that they were thinking they were going to have to do a c-section that night! They gave me a shot of steroids to help mature the babies lungs and had me lay down on my side and rest. They came and did an ultrasound of the babies in about 2 hours. We did find out that Hana is weighing in already at about 4 pounds 3 oz and Zak is about 3 pounds 13 oz. So, they are good sized for their gestational age (90th percentile to be correct). That made me feel a little better. Over the course of the night my blood pressure dropped to 124 / 51 ! All the bloodwork came back fine so things were looking up yesterday until they found out at 10 am that I was having about 7 contractions an hour. I got placed on a continuous iv drip and was instructed to lay all day on my left side. That stopped the contractions. However, when I got up to take a shower, my bp spiked to 150 / 55. So, I was kept last night for monitoring. When they were monitoring the babies this morning, Zak was sleeping and didn't wake up for 2.5 hours! So, I got sent back down to ultrasound. Hana was moving all over the place, but even with pressure Zak refused to wake up! The radiologist was getting ready to administer a loud sound when she finally some some movement (after I held my breath multiple times).

Wow!!! I hope you are feeling better now, are you still at the hospital? how are the babies doing? all the best for you and the little ones.

@Tracy: I'm having a girl, we can start planning the wedding, hahahahaha just kidding.

@DanielParul : thanks for the advice! hope you are feeling better

Haha, sometimes I leave DH with Adam. He is so easy to handle since he finally startes to talk now. I like to have Allie with me though. We're having a big garage sale tomorrow and I'm gonna hang out with my MIL and grandMIL, that's gonna be fun. I'll have all day child care  and be busy all day. I like to give DH his space and free time and he loooves to hunt but sometimes I just think "what about me, when am I gonna be able to leave for an entire weekend without the world going under at home??". I don't think that will happen for the next few years but ok...I guess that is just my job for right now. The good thing is, there won't be anybody snoring and there's more room for the three of us in our bed now, haha.

Oh my, I totally forgot. TWILA, I hope your cutie pies will bake just a little bit longer. PReeclampsia is dangerous and I'm glad to see that your little ones are already so big. Have a great weekend and keep us updated as long as you can, ok?

chrissy, that pain your feeling is your sciatic nerve and is quite common during pregnancy. Mine use to hurt so bad I would almost not be able to put weight down on my left leg...sleep opposite of the side that hurts, that always helped me :)

Twila, good luck. Hope everything goes okay and those babies have a lil bit more time to mature

Twila we are praying for you too - HANG IN THERE BABIES! bake a little longer!

Eveline, I know its hard to be alone with 2, my husband works out of town most of the time and although I am grateful he has good job there are certainly moments-hours-afternoons when I would love love love to have another set of hands in the house. Just grab your relaxation when you can and let the laundry go unfolded, thats my motto :)

everyone else, hope all is well and he aches and pains subside soon

@DanielParul: I'm sorry to hear, and I hope you feel better soon. What exactly is it?

I have always been paranoid when it comes to public restrooms, I always squat, unles it's for #2 (TMI) then I use the toilet paper on the toilet seat.

Actually, UTIs have nothing to do with the bathroom you use. They have to do with how you clean yourself after the bathroom - always front to back. You can get them from sex from fluids traveling into your urethra...typically certain sexual positions put you at a greater risk of a UTI, which is why they tell you to go tinkle immediately after you've had intercourse as it will flush out the bacteria. DP, I know this isn't your issue with your hubby away. I will also point out, that the toilet seat is normally the cleanest part of any bathroom. I have sat on many in my day and have never had a UTI from a toilet seat.

Here are the causes from the Mayo Clinic's site:

The most common urinary tract infections occur mainly in women and affect the bladder and urethra.

Infection of the bladder (cystitis) is usually caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli), a species of bacteria commonly found in the gastrointestinal tract. Sexual intercourse may lead to cystitis, but you don't have to be sexually active to develop it. All women are susceptible to cystitis because of their anatomy — specifically, the close proximity of the urethra to the ####### and the short distance from the urethral opening to the bladder.

Infection of the urethra (urethritis) can occur when the gastrointestinal bacteria make the short trip from the ####### to the urethra. In addition, because of the female urethra's proximity to the #######, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as herpes simplex virus, gonorrhea and chlamydia, also are possible causes of urethritis.

One of the best things a pregnant woman can do is to drink a glass of cranberry juice a day - preferably low sugar, or take one cranberry extract tablet a day...that should keep your urinary system in prime condition.
