@Nessa: Take it easy. I wouldn't stress about it. Yes, there are babies that sleep in their own crib in their own room from the beginning on but in most cases mom likes to have baby close by, just because it is easier and you don't have to get up 5 times a night to change a diaper but can do it in your bed or somewhere nearby. I was totally stressing to get Adam used to a toddlerbed about three months before Allie was born. He took to it pretty easy and now the crib is still sitting there, no besheeds in it and Allie hasn't spent a night in it yet. She still sleeps in the pack n play next to us (or in my arms)

Declan started out in the pack and play in our room. Then, when he got too big for it, we moved his crib into our room. We're going to keep him in our room for the winter, since our room is the best insulated and the warmest. So little guy has yet to spend a night in his bedroom!!!

LOL. We sleep in HIS room. There is a ful size bed in there still, because it's there for when my family visits. So we have been sleeping in there while he sleeps in the crib. He has only spent one night alone in his room sleeping. But because of family visiting often, it can be hard to accomplish.

That should be enough.

One other thing, the blood glucose test can be given earlier if they see that you're gaining a lot of weight rapidly. They might be concerned that your body is not processing the sugars correctly and that gestational diabetes has set in. They'll want to try to stave it off at the pass so to speak, because they're very concerned for women to have too big of a baby. Also, it's not good if the baby is in there floating around in a sea of sugared amniotic fluid.

True, also I think if you have a family history of getting diabetes young, they will check sooner.

I am a diabetic - pre-pregnancy, but now because of the pregnancy I take insulin 4 times a day.

I hope everything has still been going smoothly for you! My husband has diabetes, got it last year in his early 30's, wouldn't fit the stereotype of overweight/etc diabetic. Sometimes it just happens.

Well...my doctors are pretty sure I have preeclampsia. I told you all about the appointments Monday and how my BP was high, but I was told to take it easy and see the perinatalogist twice a week. Since I am a teacher and we have school nurses on campus, I went to the school nurse Tuesday and had her take my bp. It was 150 / 100 ! I called my OB's office and they scheduled for me to go in Wednesday. In the meantime, I had the school nurse take it again Wednesday morning. It was still 150/100. At the OB's office it ended up being 140/100. My OB told me that since I was misbehaving, I got a direct pass to the hospital. So Wednesday afternoon I came to labor and delivery triage and they were monitoring the babies and my bp. It was only rising while sitting there for 2.5 hours. That resulted in my admission to the hospital Wednesday evening. It was kind of scary at first because I got the distinct impression that they were thinking they were going to have to do a c-section that night! They gave me a shot of steroids to help mature the babies lungs and had me lay down on my side and rest. They came and did an ultrasound of the babies in about 2 hours. We did find out that Hana is weighing in already at about 4 pounds 3 oz and Zak is about 3 pounds 13 oz. So, they are good sized for their gestational age (90th percentile to be correct). That made me feel a little better. Over the course of the night my blood pressure dropped to 124 / 51 ! All the bloodwork came back fine so things were looking up yesterday until they found out at 10 am that I was having about 7 contractions an hour. I got placed on a continuous iv drip and was instructed to lay all day on my left side. That stopped the contractions. However, when I got up to take a shower, my bp spiked to 150 / 55. So, I was kept last night for monitoring. When they were monitoring the babies this morning, Zak was sleeping and didn't wake up for 2.5 hours! So, I got sent back down to ultrasound. Hana was moving all over the place, but even with pressure Zak refused to wake up! The radiologist was getting ready to administer a loud sound when she finally some some movement (after I held my breath multiple times).

Everything is going great. My numbers are very good. They were actually good before the insulin, just not pregnancy good. I do fit the stereotype, but it is actually genetic in my family to have type II. Just sucky. My dr did say that as soon as the baby's born, I most likely will be able to go off the insulin. So that is a great big positive.

Twila - holy Lord! I'll be praying great big prayers for you. I'm very pleased to learn how big they are, as those are excellent weights for two twin babies. I hope they can hang on, but as you probably know, babies born during the 7th month have a better shot at good health than those born during the 8th. It is really bizarre. I have a friend who lost twins last year at 5 months from pre-eclampsia. It is amazing how serious it can be, but to know that you're being monitored heavily is a relief.

Good luck with everything. God bless you and the babies. (F)
