I have used our changing table from the beginning on and I still use it every single day. I'm glad I got it especially since you can store the most important items right in the changing table. I wouldn't want to be without it.

Zaid is doin okay..Thanks for asking Vi...He is EXTREMELY crabby though and has been the past few days..

We have a changing table and I could not live without it. I always change zaids diaper there, and get him dressed there, get him ready after a bath there, its too convenient plus like eveline said you can store everything in it; diapers, wipes, powder, cream, etc.. You can find one at a reasonable price, or even look on Craigslist.com....there is people constantly selling things for dirt cheap on there, especially baby items...

I hope Zaid is back to normal soon :)

and on the flipside, I didnt use a changing table at all with either of my kids. When I had my son we lived in a 3 story townhouse and I was never on the right floor to use it and this time around I just didnt even bother. I have a little wicker set of shelves in the living room that I keep all supplies on, and a drawer inthe bedroom with diapers and wipes. works for me.

Girls!!

Where is everybody? how is Zaid doing???

We just came back from Babies R Us, I felt in love with everything I even bought a few outfits for little Sofia, so cute. We checked the furniture section and although we got the crib already we want to know if the changing table is that necessary because I really want to get one ($149) and Sil thinks that is not so necessary, is he right?

He keeps saying that he will change the baby over the iron board, hahahhaahha.

How is Mydestiny doing? did she have the baby already???

good night!

Vi

lol is his name charles? if it depends on my husband we'll only buy a crib. Now seriously, my plan is to buy things that the baby can use all the way til when he's a teenager. Like a convertible crib that becomes a todler bed and then a full size bed, etc.

I won't buy only a changing table, i think 149 is too expensive for something you'll be using for less than a year. I'll buy a dresser/changer combo that you can use the top as a changing table and the drawers for clothes, since we lack closet space we'll need that.

So instead of this:

pTRU1-3413091dt.jpg

buy this:

pTRU1-3382202reg.jpg

then all you have to do is a buy a changing pad to fit on top:

pTRU1-3413183dt.jpg

now, if you're really short of money, then you can always change the baby on your bed. Just put some kind of plastic absorbing whatever under the baby.

We already had a dresser for the baby, so we just bought the changing pad to fit on top of it (it had screws to attach to the back of the dresser). The dresser is fairly large so there is room for his diapers and wipes on the top next to the pad, and then I have a drawer for other changing stuff. I really like having a place to change him, but I didn't want a specific changing table because I wanted something that would last until he is older, so the dresser/changing top combo works well for me.

Morning all....been a while. Hope everyone is doing well and babies are too.

Congrats to all the new mommies and mommies to be. I love all the new pictures. Everyone is growing up so fast. :(

Nessa congrats on the boy.

Vi congrats on the girl.

Kelly I hope Zaid is feeling better soon.

Twila hang in there, not much longer. I can't wait to see double trouble.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a whole bunch...I apologize.

As for the changing table. We didn't buy one. I had a small dresser that was my late grandmothers, it's probably 50+/- yrs old. My father refinished and stained it for us and we bought the contoured changing pad that fits perfectly on top. The only thing I suggest if doing that is to buy that rubber stuff you put under a rug to keep it from moving. My father also put up a shelf above it to store creams, powder, wipes etc.

I originally wanted everything in the babies room to match, but it didn't end up that way. My cousin gave us the crib, and the changing table and rocking chair were my grandmothers. We have a twin size sleigh trundle bed in there as well that was my younger sisters. We swapped our additional queen size bed for the smaller one since that is all we have room for now. My mother made all of Ayman's bedding including one of those organizer things that attach's to the side of the crib that we store diapers in. Then we bought the armoire. So the beds match and the dresser/armoire match, but the bedding matches both since it has dark brown and white/offwhite. All the pieces are more meaningful to me than if we had bought him all new stuff that he could care less about.

This is what his room looks like, but excuse the mess. This was right after we moved in.

As for us, we're doing OK. Ayman had his 6 month shots a little late, last week. He did great, cried a little, but no problems all weekend until Monday evening. Then all of the sudden he had a temp of 102, but he's better now. The problem has been the past 2 weeks. He has been a major challenge at night. It just seems to keep getting worse and worse. He refuses to sleep at night. He is waking up about every hour crying. I try giving him his paci and patting his back and leave the room. As soon as I get back in bed he is crying again. I tried letting him cry it out hoping he would go back to sleep, but no he just starts screaming. I've even tried putting him in the bed with us to sleep, but nothing is working. He just cries and tosses and turns and cries some more. I've even tried the teething tablets but I can't tell if they even work. During the day he is fine and as normal as can be, but at night it's like he's turned into a whole different baby. Nothing I do comforts him and he is keeping us up all night every night and I'm so exhausted physically and mentally. I don't know what else to do. I sure hope its just a tooth coming in, because I am gonna be in a loony bin if he does this forever. Other than that he's a great, happy, smiley, giggly, perfectly healthy 7 month old baby. Oh and he's talking for about a month now - saying da da allllllllll the time.

Thanks Karima, your baby is really cute!

Ha,ha,ha, no Nessa, hubby's name is Silvio (Sil).

Well, we got the crib already a little early don't you think? but we got a great deal and we Had TO BUY IT. It's not the typical crib, I wish I know how to post pics little Nessa does, our crib is the one that comes with drawers incoporated, on the sides has three and on the bottom 3 more, is pretty cool and we won't have to buy more furniture for the clothes (I think, we will see).

Hope everybody have a good night!

Hugs

I hope Zaid is feeling better!!!

As far as the changing table I had one of those pack n play things with the flip changing area...when Kaila got to big for the bassinet and had to get a crib, i used the bed as the changing table....works just as well because I have a little holder thing that holds all of this things i need...I think it is up to you...there is no right or wrong answer. If you have the space and would feel more comfortable with it then get it!!!

See. I got a regular changing table...this one here: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp...;id=prod1090332 ( in another color) and when the kids won't be changed on there anymore I just buy more baskets to put toys in and it will be a toy shelf or something.

Declan has been rolling over in both directions for a while now when he is awake... but in the past few days, he has started rolling over from his back to his front when asleep. The problem is, half the time, it wakes him up and seems to freak him out because he starts screaming. Hubby and I have been waking up A LOT in the past few nights. I hope this is a very short phase and he learns to adjust really soon.

@autumn: Adam did that too for a while and then he learned to pull himself up on the bars of the crib so he could get into a sitting position. It's only a phase, it'll go by.

Allie is back in her swaddler. She made two nights without it but she still moves so much. I swaddle her and leave one arm out cause she looooves to suck her thumb. I've retired her pacis, there's no way I get those in her anymore. Her thumb is waaay better (according to her).

Declan is doing that too?? I thought I was lossing my mind. Kaila has been doing that and getting up every single hour and last night it was like every 20 mins. She starts off facing one way in the crib and ends up at the other end of the crib facing the other way....i guess it is something we just have to wait out....

Ayman does it too. He will start off on his back, then roll onto his side. Next thing I know he wakes up screaming and he is on the other end of the crib stuck in a corner and can't get himselft out. He rolls all over the place at night. He did the same thing when I tried putting him in the bed with me. He also hits and kicks in his sleep too. He's a crazy sleeper like his daddy

@mazzella: I don't think it'searly. I'd probably be starting to buy furniture if we had a place to put it./ But the bedroom we want to become the nursery, is the computer room for now. So we''ll need to move this room downstairs, and the room downstairs is a mess. We need to take a couple weekends to organize that all.

And here I want to paint it or wallpaper it, then start with the furniture. I think we'll start doing that end of January, just so we'll have everything ready in February, just in case, Gof forbid, but sometimes babies are born premature and the last thing we want is for me not to have decorated the bedroom and rely on Charles to do it :P .
