Well, having read some very good points from all of you, I think another very key factor is trusting your doctor.

While I am terrified of having a C-Section, I'll trust and accept my doctor's advice for what is best for my baby. We're all pretty vulnerable in the state of childbirth, aren't we??

Thanks for sharing so many thoughts on this topic. Makes me feel better

Tracy,

I feel your pain. I was TERRIFIED to have a C section and when they told me , 36 hours into labor, that I had to have one I had a complete and total meltdown. they had to give me some sedatives just so I could get ahold of myself. but if its any consolation, it really wasnt that bad. the first week after was pretty hideous but it passed and frankly if I have another kid and need to do the c-section again I would be ok with it. My advice would be to go ahead and at least consider it might be a possibility because I know for sure in my case I just never thought it would go that way for me so I never really did any research or reading on it the way I did for everything else regarding labor and delivery and the first few weeks. I think it would have been easier for me if I would have known a little bit more what to expect.

and at the end of it all, I guess my thoughts about it are, there really isnt an easy or a pretty way to get something between 6 and 10 pounds from point A inside the body to point B in the bassinet. its tough and painful and scary no matter what method so yeah, you do need to just trust your doctor and educate yourself. no matter what, it all becomes secondary when you are finally holding your baby :)

do you guys have any tried and true ways of getting your breasts to stop producing milk??.... I have been wearing my bra but it is not very comfortable wearing that day and night :P and then I think it has stopped so I take it off and nope, it starts again... it is getting very frustrating.....

I was reading that they don't encourage women to bind their chests anymore ...

Lizzy, he is great!!!!

Sara, you are absolutely right. You need to trust your doctor.

Well, after today's appointment I am not dilating at all, my cervix is high and closed and there are no signs of labor coming. Am I pregnant after all?

The doc is talking about induction....

You are only 38w5d...? Still 9 more days at least if you want to wait it out. Otherwise, I would read up about inductions and then make a decision if you would would an early one or not. Your child is term, so I guess it boils down to personal preference and what risks you are willing to take at this point either way.

I went into labor on my own at 41w0d. I literally had the induction scheduled for the next day. The days between 40w0d and 41w0d, those were the longest days of my life. I thought I was going to be pregnant forever.

a friend of mine sent me this song after my first baby Noah died back in October/06... I was just listening to it and bawling my eyes out :crying:

it is written and sung by Michael W Smith... he wrote it for some friends of his who lost their baby who just happened to be named Noah too...

I just have the audio and I couldn't find video of it online or anything so I just included the lyrics...

I just uploaded the audio... let us see if this works... mmm, not quite what I wanted but it will have to do ..

Hello, Goodbye

Wheres the navigator of your destiny?

Where is the dealer of this hand?

Who can explain life and its brevity

cause there is nothing here that I can understand

You and I have barely met

And I just don't want to let go of you yet

Chorus:

Noah, hello, goodbye

I will see you on the other side

Noah, sweet child of mine

I will see you on the other side

And so I hold your tiny hand in mine

For the hardest thing I've ever had to face

Heaven calls for you before it calls for me

When you get there, save me a place

A place where I can share your smile

And I can hold you for more than just a while
