Nessa, the 4th pic you have is the exact shot we got of zaid confirming he was a boy. He kept flipping his "pee pee" right to us.

We just got home from zaids 6 month vaccines. All those PLUS the flu vaccine. NOT FUN!! Zaid didnt cry but were home now 5 hours later and he is irritable. I laid him down and he went right to sleep. I have to work so hopefully he doesnt give daddy too hard of a time.

I went and bought an elliptical today (From someonen on craigslist for 50$) We got it a few hours ago and its WONDERFUL! I felt like i ripped the guy off but he said his wife never uses it and he wanted it out of his garage, I really need to commit myself to it to lose 20lbs. Im disgusted with myself since having the baby. I use to smoke ALOT and quit when I got preggo and I sadly think that has had a lot to do with my weight gain, on top of smoe bad genes! Wish me luck :)

I love your baby pics Nessa, they are awesome, how is the daddy to be feeling???

Today we went to our regular appointment, I'm 16 weeks and everything seems fine. The baby was waving at us, it was really cute and we always bring our camera with us so we can record it for my family and friends in Peru (we post the videos on Facebook)

. Today the doctor took some blood from me to be tested and see if the baby has Down Syndrome, pretty scary and then she gave us the address of this medical center for the Fetal Anatomy test  , do you have and idea of what are they going to do to me??? do I have to be there all day??.

We will find out the sex of the baby during our next appt, on Decemeber 6th, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm finally gaining weight!!!! , It might sound crazy but I'm very happy about it.

Girls have a great Saturday!

Hugs

@VI: All those tests are volutarily. You don't HAVE to let them take blood to see if your baby has down syndrome. Also you don't have to take the Alpha Fetoprotein Test etc. I didn't do it on both kids. All I had done was GBS and diabetis, that is it. Doctors can drive you crazy with all their tests and as long as the outcome of the blood test won't change anything on your pregnancy I would just cancel or deny the tests. Like, I would not have aborted any of my children if a blood test had come back positive for downs, so I didn't have it done, it wouldn't have changed anything. Also, there are a lot of 'false positives' out there. ONce you are tested positive you undergo sooo many more tests like aminosentecis (sp??) which comes with even more risks...no thanks. Not for me. It is up to you. Don't be scared to say NO to the doctors. All you might have to do is sign a waiver but that is it. It is your body, your baby, your pregnancy and if you don't feel comfortable with anything, let your OB know.

The American College of Obstetricians and gynecologists recommends these tests to every pregnant woman but they are not mandatory. http://www.acog.org/from_home/publications...r01-02-07-1.cfm You can always deny. They might ask you why so you better have an explanation ready (I told them that no matter what, I won't abort) and you might have to sign a waiver that you understand that your child might have undetected spina bifida (you can see that on US though), cleft palate, down syndrome etc.

hey mommy!!!

*Kaila HATED being swaddled as well...must be a Jamaican thing  so i let her arms free..

*She also started with baby acne as well...i was told to let it be and it didn't clear up....it go a little better when i switched to soy formula and used hydrocortazone....i would wait to see if it goes away and then talk to you dr about the next approach

*acid refulx have you tried using a sleep supporter that is sort of elevated? I have heard they work very well and help with the baby sleeping http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2763843 i used this and kaila loved it and slept....try and see what works for you!!

Also...you can NEVER spoil a newborn....they need to know you and know you are ther for them! My family told me that all the time as well..and I said I am mommy and daddy and I need to have that bond with my child...do what you feel is right and natural for you!

Hey Nanny! yea it must be a JA thing.. she loves to wiggle around so much. I have a sleep supporter but its not elevated, I will look into that, thanks.

How is Kaila? she looks adorable as always.

aaww thanks.....she is doing good actaully....today she is a bit cranky..she has 2 upper teeth coming in so she is all out sorts...but other then that she is good

question to everyone~ I am not sure if i am just a worried mommy...but kaila seems to have a "lazy arm" it is her right arm and when she roles she has it so that it is still behind her and i have to change her arm because it looks like it is just going to hurt her...other then that she uses her arm to grab things and her hand it is just like at her shoulder area i guess...anyone else's child do this??

I am having the fetal development u/s where they look for heart, organ failures. I think that one is important, because if there's something happening that requires some kind of change in the pregnancy, like me resting me or whatever, or something that can put any of us in danger (me or thae baby), is a good thing to know and be prepared.

As for all the other tests, some require that huge needle in your belly, most of them have a % chance of miscarriage, I won't be doing any of that. I'm not having that Down S. test done either. I would never have an abortion, plus, there are lots of false negatives and the last thing I want is to get everybody stressed out for something that might not even happen, or to have a miscarriage just because I['m trying to find out something wrong with the baby that I could've waited til the day the baby was born.

@Nessa: When the "Down Syndrome Test" (I think those are triple testes, quad tests and Alfa Fetoprotein- Tests) come back positive it still doesn't mean that baby might have Downs and THEN they do the aminocentesis which requires the needle in your belly, which might lead to a rupture of membranes and early delivery of the - sometimes not even viable - baby. That is the reason why I didn't have it done. My SIL was told her babygirl had intrauterine growth retardation and needed to be aborted (they also did an aminocentesis). SIL decided not to abort and gave birth to Maddie in 2001, a happy, healthy 7lbs baby.

Of course there is always the chance that your baby might be born with Downs. That is why the test is recommended. It is up to every pregnant lady to test or not.

@Nessa: The organ screening is a big thing. I wouldn't have missed it for anything. First you get to see your baby (which is always nice) and second you get peace of mind that everything is ok or if something is not ok you can have further testing (then I think it is necessary but not without any indication)

yes i understand there is a chance 1:999, I just don't understand why is it recommended to have it done. Why do people that don't want to know if the baby is going to be born healthy or with an extra chromosome have to risk the baby's life to find that out if that won't change the fact that if that's the case, when the baby is born your life will be different, more difficult, but it'll be your life and you're gonna have to accept it.

I also don't understand people that want to know just so they can opt to not keep the child. It is not an easy life, I speak from experience, and some people just can't handle it emotionally or financially. So for me, it's a great test to have if you only want to have a perfectly healthy child, and if this one is not perfect, you'll just get rid of it and try to have another child that migh be born perfect and develop cancer or be diagnosed with asperger's, and in those cases the mom will not murder the child, which is weird, because if they can murder it before seeing the child being born, why is it so difficult to just murder it after it's born?

oh, another thing, it's not that I don't think women shouldn't have the test done. It's always good to be prepared, if you know about it, you can read about it so you'll be able to deal with it when the time comes. In my case, with my sister and all, that's not much else I need to know.
