My baby's hb today was 156bpm and I gained 12 lbs in 4 weeks, fun fun fun. I was doing the math, if i gain 12 lbs every month i'll be around 218 lbs by the end of the pregnancy.

This should mean you are going to have a girl because the hb is over 150. I also heard another old wives tale that says if the placenta is positioned left in the uterus it is a girl/ right it is a boy.

In my case everything is true. Baby's hb was under 150 all the time and my placenta is positioned on the right...

People sometimes talk about the Chinese calendar and in my case it was wrong.

@Nessa: do you have a feeling if it's a boy or girl? we found out at 20 weeks too. I was in a car accident at 17 weeks and they did an ultrasound at the ER but they couldn't tell for sure. It's easier to tell after 20 weeks. I've seen premies born around 26 weeks and I had to look twice to see their gender.

My belly button popped out around 7/8 months. I had a dark line but no hair on my belly. I had gorgeous hair during my pregnancy and pretty much everywhere else my hair grew fast too. ewwww! I had to shave dreadlocks off my legs like every other day! haha!

@Carolyn: we are spreading Ben's shots out too. He gets max. 2 shots each month and it has been working well! He only had a reaction once to the Prevnar/Hib (slight fever) but those are known for side effects. I just don't feel comfortable putting so many shots into that little body at once. I think their little systems handle it easier one-by-one.

He's not getting the flu/rota virus shot and we are waiting with the hepatitis until he starts pre-school. He'll get everything else, just spread out. He'll also get the MMR shot seperately.

Zaid flipped his "Wee wee" straight to the ultrasound tech at 20 weeks. There was no denying it and we have quite a few pictures of his "business"

@autum: that sucks! I hope you'll get it exchanged soon!

Jax....i am happy to hear that everything is good with Jay...why does she need to see the speech therapist again?

Kaila is shy around new people..she will look at them and then look back at me to make sure everything is ok...

autumnchik...i would be so upset about that! How frusterating!! Hope you are able to get it all worked out!!

Well I guess we have 2 more thearpist come the next 2 weeks. I don't know what one is for. I guess I will see.

The speech is because her tongue is hanging out. Seeing if that will effect her speech. Thank goodness these services are free.

If remember correct I think we found out Jay was a girl at 20 weeks.

Met Jan 1998, vows on 2006, Jay Jay born 2008, baby 2 - 2011

Nessa, try this website..... www.whattoexpect.com it's sooooo good! Just like VJ but for pregnant women.

i started tio go to that website when i got pregnant, but all the m/c talk was driving me crazy. now that i'm on the second trimester i'm thinking of going back.

About the sex of the baby, i'll have my u/s at 20 weeks (that's when my insurance will pay for), but since I don't wanna wait that long, i scheduled one for week 16 that the insurance won't cover so i'll have to pay, so 2 more weeks, if I can find out yay, if not, oh well.

My baby's hb today was 156bpm and I gained 12 lbs in 4 weeks, fun fun fun. I was doing the math, if i gain 12 lbs every month i'll be around 218 lbs by the end of the pregnancy.

I joined an excellent website, it's called www.babyfit.com it's my new addiction  .

We are having our next ultrasound on my 16th week and I hope the Dr. tell us the sex of the baby, I had a feeling that is going to be a boy but so many people are telling me that is going to be a girl that I'm a little confused right now. . Nessa, how much is the U/S???

I don't have a problem with whether its oral or i/m. I'm personally not convinced by the necessity of the particular vaccine. Neither is my pediatrician. he doesn't even have the vaccine at his office.

Rota Virus causes vomiting and diarrhea, but so do Noro virus and hundreds of similar viruses. Chances are, every child will have to go through one or the other and I'd rather have him go through it than give him a vaccine that had very little research but is known for pretty extreme side effects.

Kavi didn't end up getting rotateq either. Well the first time it was offered, I never heard about it and they said it's optional and can be decided for the next visit. So I said ok I'll read about it and do it next time maybe. So then on the next visit I said they could go ahead with that one too, but then the Dr said since it wasn't given at the earlier time to just skip it since it's supposed to be in 2 doses and I guess we missed the first dose.

I know not every kid will get rota virus but my girlfriend decided not to give her son the oral vaccine and when he was like 5 months came down with it and had to be hospitalized for dehydration due to the constant diahrea and vomiting. She told me she was changing about 10 poopy diapers a day for 3 weeks and that there isnt anything you can do, that it just kinda has to run its course. yucky...

I think its good that not everyone just does what their doctor dictates. Some doctors try to make you seem like a bad parent if you go against what all the "books" say..Kudos to you for that.

I know my doc scolded me for giving zaid cereal from a spoon at 3 months. He said "Well recommended age for spoon feeding is 4-6 months" I kinda in a nice way just told him to screw himself and that I would do what I thought was best

it's not necessary despite the fact that the complications from being infected with rotavirus are statistically far more dangerous than any side effects from it? do you know what the statistics of adverse events from receiving the vaccine vs. the risks of infection and resulting complications are? i'm well aware of the various viruses out there that cause gastroenteritis-i had an excellent microbiology prof. i just came to the conclusion that removing the risk of one of those viruses (a virus that kills 611,000 kids worldwide every year) through vaccination was a better option than leaving that one in the mix. one less virus in that mix still lowers a child's chances of becoming ill exponentially.

the gender u/s is $50, the 3D is $175. The insurance won't cover 3D/4D, but it covers u/s, when they feel like, and I don't wanna wait til I'm 20 weeks, that's why I want to pay 50 to have one when I'm 16 weeks. As for the 3D or 4D, i'll pay to have that done too, but only when I'm like 28 weeks up.

I have a question, I asked my doctor on my first visit if I could sleep on my belly, he said as long as I felt comfortable it isn;t a problem. Then this girl said her doctor said she wasn't supposed to sleep on her stomach because it would put pressure on the baby, etc, and then yesterday I asked the other doctor that saw me and she said as long as i'm comfortable it's ok.

We had the 3D/4D ultrasound done at 16wks, again at 17 wks because he would not cooperate for gender, then again at 27 wks and it was amazing. We have CD's and DVD's of each experience. It was well worth the money to me.

how much did it cost?
