Seems like all our babies are growing!

I am now putting away all the newborn size onesies and sleepers--Ilyas is finally fitting in most of his 0-3 month stuff! I feel like I am dressing a doll--he's so cute!

BTW, I second the recommendation of finding used (and new!) baby stuff on Craigslist. I have found some GREAT deals on barely used items--$30 for a $150 swing, $12 for a bouncy seat, etc. My only caution would be to bring your own batteries if the item takes them and make sure it work properly.

I have gotten free things off freecycle.org sometimes they have walkers and baby toys on it. I have gotten a lot of free stuff from Jay and when I want to get rid of stuff I can give it away to someone who needs it.

Karima - Did your son dislike the baby einstein stationary entertainer or the jumper? I am curious. We bought the entertainer and I am really hoping Declan likes it. Cute pics of Ayman BTW.

It was the jumper he didn't like. This was him in it 2 months ago.

We tried it out at the store and he seemed happy, but a month later when my parents bought one to keep at their house, he hated it. We ended up getting him the Evenflo 3 in 1 ExerSaucer and he loves it. Although, he is almost too tall for it now.

for the past few weeks Amirah has become very aware and interested in other babies. When I feed her baby food she makes me move my hands around so she can inspect the label for a picture of a baby, especially that stonyfield farm organic baby yogurt because it has a realy good pic. so a couple of days ago my girlfriend wanted to bring over amirahs birthday present because she couldnt wait :) she brought a really cute musical walker and as a side note a little bean bag-gy baby doll she just grabbed on her way out of the store. OMG Amirah is so in love with the baby. its the cutest thing ever. she hugs and kisses it and talks to it for long periods (I should say 'talks', as its not really words). when she first sees it like after nap or in the morning its like a grand reunion. I am going to have to take some pics and a movie.

some of the cutest things i have ever read!

aww :luv: lol SO cute!!

I think I wrote already how Kavi has been giving kisses now. It's so cute! He started doing it a couple weeks ago out of nowhere. At first I wondered what he was doing, but then I realized it and it was so exciting. He only does it when he wants to though, lol. If you ask for a kiss he usually won't give one. He does it in his own timing. He loves looking at himself in the mirror and I think he thinks it's a friend. He gets shy when he sees himself, then loosens up and kisses himself in the mirror a million times!!

He has been pulling himself up to stand over the past couple weeks too. It's scary at first, so many tumbles! He now realizes how to land on his butt if he falls.

Yesterday we went to his specialist for another surgery follow up visit. The Dr said things look really good. The area is still healing, but the DR said it looks perfect for the stage it's at.

I had a question---

Is anyone else's baby shy around strangers or people they don't see often? Kavi won't smile much around new people, and it takes awhile for him to finally smile. He just studies them. At home with us and very familiar people, he always smiles and laughs. But always around newer people, he won't smile for the longest time and then I feel bad like they think he isn't a happy baby. lol. As soon as they leave he starts smiling again!! :(

stranger anxiety is a totally normal phase of development. it's to be expected! and it usually starts right around 8 months.

My little guy just had his 2 month check-up yesterday...

The good news: he is growing wonderfully! He is now 10 pounds, 10 ounces, 22 1/2 inches long and his head is 15 3/8 inches! Ok, that probably sounds miniscule to many of you with bigger babies, but Ilyas used to be such a little peanut (6 pounds, 8 oz. at birth). The appointment was very reassuring and Ilyas was so cute--he was just talking away to the doctor :) ...

Now the not-so-great: he was miserable after his 4 shots + 1 oral vaccine. He had a slight fever and was wimpering/crying/fussing most of the night. Consequently I'm super tired today and he is napping away (I wish I could nap so peacefully).

Has anyone done an alternative vaccine schedule? I am not someone who would decline getting my child immunized, but it somehow seems like cruel and unusual punishment to give so many shots at one time in such a tiny body. Then again, would it be worse to spread out the vaccines? I wonder if his reactions would be minimal if he only had 2 shots or so at a time...I think I'm going to buy the Dr. Sears Vaccine book...

Carolyn. I cant offer first hand advice as zaid has no reaction to vaccines but...

My nephew was in a lot of pain and crabby after his vaccines so my sis in law had her doctor spread them out and it turned out that 2 pokes or 4...he was equally as crabby..

I do remember the 2 month vaccines being the worst for me. Zaid bruised and was irritable but that was about it. Once he packed on the lbs at his 4 month checkup he did excellent. Also, at his 4 month my ped office started offering 2 vaccines in one needle, so, it was only 2 pokes. The good news is Ilyas only has to do this every 2 months. then every 3...we have zaids 6 month vaccines coming up next week and its soo reassuring knowing we dont have to go back until hes 9 months old.

Ilyas should be as good as new by tomorrow. Give him a lil baby tylenol and some extra TLC

He has gotten more wary of strangers, but he always has been very reserved around people he doesn't see a lot ever since he started smiling in the early weeks.

Kavi was only 6 lbs 2 oz at birth and was about the same at 2 months as well. :) You will miss the lightweight days when they get bigger and are harder to carry around. lol.

Kavi had the fever reaction after his 4 month shots(not 2 month). The only problem I'd have with the alt vaccine schedule is repeating the needle shot pain for him more times than getting it all over at once, plus it adds it extra Dr visits it seems and more copays. It might just be a particular shot that gives the reaction, so he may get it anyway even if they are spread out. (I am not expert though hehe, just guessing)

It's really whatever you are happy with though!

On our vaccine schedule from our Pediatrician, Kavi doesn't get shots at his 9 month check up. So not until 12 months! So that'll be a long time since the 6 mo shots.
