Hi girls...still busy with the Kavi recovery, but he is doing good. It's hard though because we can't let him roll around and scoot/crawl because we are afraid of damage to his tube catheter and everything. So he gets restless, and we are tired from holding him certain ways. We let him sit on the ground to play but we sit behind him so he doesn't try to flop onto his belly like usual. That seems to be the hardest part really, the constant supervision. He is sleeping with us right now too so we can make sure he doesn't roll onto his belly at night, so we wake up a lot at any noise to make sure he's not. I will talk to a nurse on Monday to ask how long we have to be this cautious, but it might be until the tube is out and we are waiting for that appointment still. Most things I read say it can come out after a week, but sometimes it stays for 2 weeks. I hope it's not a full 2 weeks! His peepee area is still bandaged too of course so we still can't see it, but the bandages cause it to stick out(one of the reasons it's scary to let him on his belly) and we have to be careful with diapering. He doesn't seem to be in much pain at all though, and he acts as if he had no surgery, so that is a very positive part. He probably doesn't have a clue why we aren't letting him play around like normal.

I write updates on my blog because some relatives and friends read there, so if I don't write as much here for a little while you can always check for my updates there. http://sujstina.blogspot.com

Autumnchik-I am trying to write tips and more details on my blog so you and any others who will go through the surgery will have some tips. :) But feel free to ask me any thing you think of, because I am sure there are details I might forget to write about. I think because your little boy went through some surgery that was probably more intense already, it might be a little more relieving for you since it's not internal. But I think the week or so after surgery, Declan will need a lot of attention probably if he was very active like Kavi was before the surgery. If the baby wasn't able to roll around or crawl, it would seem easier in a way but then they'd be too young for the surgery I guess.

I imagined after the surgery that Kavi would mostly rest in his crib and sleep, but then we realized after we were home that we couldn't leave him in the crib or anywhere without him flipping over and rolling, etc. I don't know what degree of hypospadia Declan has, but Kavi's I guess was 2nd degree but only about 1/4 inch below the normal hole area so not very severe, still the entire length was cut open I believe. He had the "blind eye" at the top as they call it, where it looks like the pee should come out normally and where they make the hole really come out during surgery. I guess if Declan also has a tube will make a difference afterwards.

@Vi: I had like 1 week of morning sickness and I ate tons of watermelon. That helped me. Good luck.

@ks: I hear you on the pants... I can't keep up with his clothes. One day they fit and by the time they go through the wash, he has outgrown them. I also keep finding stuff in his closet that I wanted him to wear (like a really cute pair of swimshorts) and never got a chance... Haha Ben is at 9-12 months too. Everything from gymboree and oshkosh- he's at 18 months.

I just hope that he will fit in his Halloween outfit.

Are you all dressing up your kids for Halloween? Our neighbourhood has a Halloween party so Ben will be a pumpkin. :luv:

Allie is going to be a chicken. I got that outfit at a garage sale for 3 bucks. We still need Adam's costume. He's got a brandnew superman pyjama, maybe he'll just wear that.

About the sizes. Adam was just like that. We bought a t-shirt for 18 months olds when he was only six months old and guess what...he's still wearing it at 19 months. Luckily they stop growing that fast at some point.

Declan is so long that he is wearing 9-12 month clothes too. Width wise, they are baggy, but the length is right. Some of the 6 month clothes still fit, but not a lot. And he has huge feet too so even if the pajamas fit, the feet part are too small!

Declan will be a horse for Halloween. I have no idea what we are doing, maybe just dressing him up and giving out candy, but I had to get a costume for him!!!

BTW, how do you put a pic in your signature? I want to show you guys new pics of Declan, but every time I try to attach one, it says the file is too big.

@halloween: Hubby and I will be Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife. We found some cool wigs and obnoxious necklaces at walmart. Just need 2 trashy outfits and voila!

@autumn: I use photobucket. I load up some pictures there, cope the link and paste it into my signature. It took me a while to figure it out.

@Anna, Eveline & chstn:

I am doing good, I am starting my last 4 weeks now and hope, they won't drag along too bad. Bending down is getting difficult and I start waddling..lol

But other than that I can't complain.

I will have him at the Landstuhl RMC, the big Army hospital here in Germany. If they are full when I go into Labor, they will "divert" me to a german hospital nearby. Wouldn't be mad about that at all, but I have to say, the people on base there are supernice. THey have midwives there as well on duty, so the obgyn will probably just check in on me every now and then and leave the most part to the nurses and midwives.

They also offer doula services but hubby said, that's what he is for..lol SO lately, I catch him walking closly behind me, sometimes grabbing my hips or rubbing the belly...he says, he is practicing his doula skills...LOL

Eveline: Congratulations!!!!!!!!! How did everything go?

@Chnst: You also have to buy a bra in size EEE and stuff it cause as far as I remember I have never seen that lady's face since her chest ist just so um....eyecatching :rofl:

@Nane: Everything went perfect...well, almost. I was scheduled for a c/s (repeat since my first was a c/s) for monday August 11 but my doc was nice enough to cancel it since I didn't feel all comfortable with it and I was dilated already. Went to the hospital on August 13 for an induction but baby's head was too high and pitocin didn't bring it down so my ob didn't want to break my waters because he was scared of a cord prolapse (when the cord comes out first or baby's head pushes on it). Sooo, he was talking c/s again. My head nurse had a vbac years ago and she asked me why I don't just go home instead of a c/s... I didn't know I could actually do that and said YESSSSSSSSS...She talked to my OB and he - first reluctant - let me go. On Friday, August 15 we went back for another induction (I was five days past my dd at that point) and my cervix had thinned out basically over night (80% effaced) or it was the two glasses of wine I had the evening before. I was also about 6cm dilated and they put me on pit and eventually broke my water (at around 9:30am I think). 11.03am Allison was born. It was short hard labor and a cramp in my leg (ouch). I think I had one long contraction that made me push like crazy. I was humming like a whole stock of bees and was all hoarse the day after  . I got a 3rd degree episiotomy cause Allie's heartrate was too low for too long and she didn't breathe right away, was all blue but had her eyes open and looked around (which freaked DH out, he almost passed out, haha). She came back quickly. Her second APGAR was a 9 so she was good. I didn't get any epidural, there was just no time for it, we did order it though, in case I wanted to change my mind.

That's it. I'm glad I got to VBAC. Gotta go..screamin deamon is crying :luv:

Hi! I hope everyone is doing well.

I am so relieved because Kavi's follow up appt is going to be on Wednesday. The tube will come out and the bandage will come off. At first I called this morning and they gave me an appointment for next Monday, and I was bummed out it was that long away. But then I had questions for a nurse, and when she called back she said the appt should be a lot sooner than that, so she scheduled it for Wednesday, only 2 more days! Also she said it's fine for Kavi to sleep on his belly and try to crawl, just to be cautious with the tube. That's huge relief too.

Sorry for everyone that's having nausea. I had some morning sickness from about week 8 until week 17(I think), then it did seem to go away. I hope it goes away for everyone! I would get the most nausea if I let myself get too hungry, or took too long to eat breakfast in the morning. I tried a lot of tricks but nothing really worked besides time, by lunchtime every day I felt better. Like I said already, I'd only get sick later in the day if I got hungry or smelled something weird. The body does strange things during pregnancy! :)

@ nane: Good luck! The hospital sounds nice though, they even have doulas... Wow. My DH was my doula as well, however he was a little clueless about how to exactly pressure massage my back during labor... We didn't have an epidural, so I relied on massage and hot compresses... But after a while he figured it out and got pretty good at it! I must say though that before labor he was like: yeah it's all natural, it's gonna be fine and nothing can surprise me. Afterwards he admitted that it was more intense than he had assumed... His comment was: seeing you in so much pain, I realized that if someone ever hurt you, I'd shoot them in their face... He was pretty shaken by seeing me in so much pain and being unable to do something about it... He was prolly happier than me that labor was over... He was truly concerned for me (so cute!)....

Oh and actually labor is hard work, but it is not that bad, I didn't mean to make it sound scary! It is over sooner than you think :)
