I am glad to hear Kavi is doing well.

Anaesthesia can be hard on children. My niece has been going to the Shriner's Hospital in Boston since she was a toddler (she is now 8) to remove a birthmark that is in her ear, mouth, and on her face and lips. The stories my sister tells about her coming out of it are horrible. They have tried a whole bunch of different types on her. I forget what they call the incident, but Megan will wake up from the procedure and be like a toddler in a tantrum. She has ripped out IV lines, bit and hit nurses, etc. So...they keep trying different types on her. This last time (last week) the newest version they tried they had a hard time getting her out! My sister said her attitude was much improved, but it was scary it took so long.

I am glad that Kavi's surgery went well. The waking from the anesthesia is probably the worst part.

*Wishing ya'll a good night's sleep tonight

Hello everybody,

I hope, some of you still remember me? I moved back to Grmany in June and we just got Internet access at home. So, now it is time to catch up on a lot of things! How is everybody doing? THere must have been quite a few babies been born now!?

I am 35 1/2 weeks now and the countdown is on! Everything is going okay, except tuesday when I had to go to the hospital because I couldn't feel the baby move AT ALL!! It took a nurse, a midwife and several cups apple juice and lots of poking to get him to move at least a little bit! Scary scary!

Well, I hope, everybody is doing fine! WHo is going to be next to go to L&D?

@Nane: that happened to me too. it was really scary, but Ben just turned himself into breech position and that's why I didn't feel him for a couple of days. Hope everything goes well for you! You're pretty close!

@Stina: I'm glad things went well, I hope he'll recover soon!

We had the 5 month check-up today. He gained 2 pounds within 4 weeks  and clocked in at 19.5lbs....

We got the green light to try some cereal over the next month. :star:

Poor little KAvi, wishing you all the best.

@Chnst: CHunky monkey. I think Adam was somewhere around the 18lbs mark too at that age.

@Nane: Welcome back. How is pregnancy treating you? I had my babygirl on August 15th...she's six weeks old today.

@autumnn: he's 27 inches even. Believe it or not, but there was a boy only 2 weeks older than Ben and he was twice the size of Ben!! Babies are just huge these days. I just looked at my baby book when I was 5 months I weighed 15lbs. Hubby was about the same. I really don't know where he gets it from, but he's a monster!

so... Hubby and I got all exited about Ben's first "din-din" tonight (oatmeal). We made a big fuss, set up the camera, expecting a huge mess .... but he hated it! We tried so hard but he would not eat anything.:no:

Then we tried a jar of bananas and he finished it off within 2 minutes, and the bib went back into the drawer because it was still clean.

Did you guys ever have problems with the cereals?

@ Nadine: wow you are getting close... Where will you deliver - on base or in a German hospital? I hope the AF will send us someday to Germany so I can have Jona's siblings in a German hospital with a midwife guaranteed :) Looked up my choices for the next base and in Montana Tricare won't pay for midwives :help: (meaning we will have to pay out of pocket as an obgyn is a no-no for delivery)

@ chnst: wow. I just checked my fancy DDR-vaccination-baby-weight-whatever book, and when I was 4 weeks old I weighed less than Jona!!! he gained faster than me and I was born 500g heavier than he was.... His head circumference is already at 15 inches, he was born with 12.9!!! Incredible... It must be those prenatals... Or something in the water... ;)

Chnst - We tried rice cereal first and Declan liked it okay, but was much more enthuisiastic about eating pears and peas than he was the cereal. I had expected more with the cereal and was a bit disappointed, but got the reaction after he had peas.

I love how big Ben is, that's awesome. You and hubby are both pretty tall, aren't you?

Declan was 26.5 inches at his 4 month check, but only about 15 pounds. If he continues like this, he will definitely be a tall skinny boy.

hey nuthin' wrong with that! Yes we're both oover 5ft 10". About the cereal- If I was a baby I wouldn't like it much either... It just doesn't smell right to me.

@Anna: wow, you have that DDR thing too? haha, I still use it to keep track of my vaccines.

I still have my DDR shot record here...in fact I was looking at it yesterday to see when I got what vaccination. Was there actually anything like the MMR shot in east Germany, cause I did get a Mumps shot but I had measles and rubella at age 2 and still have antibodies.

Anywho, about the cereal..ADam didn't like it either. Have you tried it? It's nasty, I wouldn't want to eat it either. We started Adam with Avocado and peas and he liked it.

@ Evi: Hm I didn't get a mumps shot at all (I had it in 4th grade), measles shot was given at 12 months, rubella when I was a teenager. They did bombard me though with DTP shots and I received a BCG shot (tuberculosis vaccine)... Oh and the oral polio, but that was it... MMR and Hepatitis A+B are vaccines I got as teenie, long after the demise of the DDR.
