We're back ladies. Congrats to all newly preggers and happy pregnancy to everybody. HOpe all the morning sickness and tiredness will go away for a while until it returns in the last few weeks...Enjoy it.

About milk: I give ADam about 16oz of Vitamin D organic whole milk a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I don't stress over it since he also eats yoghurt and cheese so I know he gets the fat for his brain development.

About food: I'm having a hard time giving Adam healthy food. He's become so picky and when DH is at work I don't cook big meals since I can't eat it all and Adam only eats tiny portions. I make grilled cheese or cream of wheat. Sometimes I just steam carrots and broccoli and give him that or - his new favorite - I make sweet potatoe french fries, pan cakes, potato soup...whatever or just a plain ol sandwich with meat and cheese. For the past few days he's been eating mostly ####### though, cookies, cracker...etc..munching all day. I have to get better control over it. Doesn't help that our fridge don't work so we have nothing at home right now...always have to drive to my MIL to make some foods.

Allie is colicy also...She has two streches a day when she jsut screams, usually in the morning at around 10am and then in the evening from 5pm until 8pm. She has better days and some are not so good. she has jet to sleep a night (or at least a few hours) in her own bed. For the past five weeks I have been holding her at night. The only time I can really put her down is when she is asleep or when I prop her up on the couch. I've decided to get her a new car seat since she doesn't like the snugride because I think it is too reclined for her. She needs to sit up or her reflux is driving her nuts so we'll just graduate her to her very own graco comfortsport seat. She's definetely more high maintenance and we spend our days mostly like this: http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x244/Ev...ie/DSC04660.jpg

If she does sleep during the day and I can put her down I have her sleep on her belly. I know it is not recommended but at least she'll sleep like that. I think she likes the pressure on her arms, can't fling them out and so she doesn't wake up.

I'm glad you'll ask your DR again. I am sure she is just concerned for your health, but it's ultimately your choice to visit family. You won't even be at the very end of your pregnancy. You would be within the acceptable time frame as something like what Nessa posted, and as you get closer you can see how your pregnancy is going. I mean if you yourself feel or know it's risky, you wouldn't go of course, and if you feel good and things are fine then why not go? At my midwife/OB office, the main OB Dr was from Egypt while my midwife was just from the US, I doubt they'd be as concerned about someone visiting their homeland unless there was a malaria outbreak there or something. Just remember, it's YOUR choice, your Dr is giving advice. Do more research on your own and then you will feel comfortable about making the choice. If your Dr gives you a hard time b/c it's Peru, say this is MY country I will be visiting, not an unknown place, and I am doing it to see my family during this important part of my life. Remember, if you have any complications, it wouldn't be good to fly, but you already know that.

Eveline, your Allie sounds like my Sophia. My daughter is a month older but she does the same thing. I know your solely breastfeeding as I was but I had to start supplementing Sophia with a non-allerginic formula just so she'd get some relief. I spend three/fourths of my time with her in my snuggle carrier. It does make doing stuff difficult. Evey time i try to pull her our she wakes up and startsd crying. Sophia's colic is worst at night. She wails using between 4-23. I also find that most days she doesn't nap at all during the day. She fights sleep so much. Like yesterday she might have napped twice for 30 minutes. She's playing catchup but in my arms. It makes doing things hard, so I can only imagine what it's like in your house with a toddler and a new colicy baby. How do you do it?

NOB: Congratulations on your little babygirl. Sorry you are also fighting with colic. I have tried supplementing iwth formula but found that it didn't really help at all. Today is a good day, she didn't really throw a fit yet but it is not 5pm.

To make things worse, I have a plugged milk duct on my right side and it hurts so much. I try to nurse her on that side but all the stimulation jsut makes my ####### get even bigger and hurt more...argh. Hope it will resolve soon and not develop into a nice mastitis.

Thank you for your post Parivar, I know the I have the final decision, the problem is that my hubby was there when the doctor said no to me about the trip and this is our first baby, so NOW he is super scared, before he was very supportive about the trip but the doctor put on his mind that is DANGEROUS to go to Peru , is funny, he have been to my country 13 times and now he says thta is dangerous, Plop!

We have been checking different websites about it on line and all of them say that is ok to travel by plane until certain time of course and today I spoke to a close friend who traveled to Ecuador (7hr flight) from NY without any complication.

I'm defenitely going to spoke to the doctor again.

Good night girls!!

Eveline, I feel your pain. I hope your plugged milk ducts clears soon. I can just imagine how painful that is. I haven't had a problem with my milk ducts, but my problem is my nipples. Every time Sophia attaches on it feels like she's ripping my nipples off. At times it feels like I'm getting "purple nipples" with some feedings. Sophia just settled now and it's 2130. I have her sleeping on her stomach on my lap. It's the only way she settle.

Eveline,

I'm sorry to hear that Allie is challenging you for the moment! FWIW, she sure is cute!

Ok, some thoughts: my Ilyas will usually not sleep during the day, either, if we stay at home--he will fall asleep briefly, but then is super fussy and wants to be held.

If we leave the house, PRESTO! he is sound asleep in his car seat! We will often go for walks around a lake, or to visit people, or go to the mall, etc. The key is that he stays in his comfy seat (it's a Chicco, by the way--so far so good). In fact, he sleeps so long I usually have to wake him up to feed him.

I also had a clogged milk duct/milk blister this past weekend. Friday night it hurt so much when Ilyas was nursing that I was literally crying out loud! I kept feeding him, but it was miserable.

On Saturday morning I called a friend of mine, who is a nurse and has two boys that she breast-fed, for advice on my sore breast. She suggested that I boil some water and pour it on a wash cloth--let it cool until you can just barely stand to touch it, then hold it on your breast until the washcloth cools down. Do that twice and massage your breast at the same time. Then take a hot shower, and then have your daughter feed on it right away after the shower. Be sure to massage your breast while she is feeding. That SHOULD unclog your duct, but you'll have to take care of your nipple with some Lanisoh ointment afterwards. I also soaked my breast for one minute in saline after feeding (Epsom salts if you have them). It is still tender, but much better--no more pain!

@KS: NUTS...I agree, *lol*. Honestly, five months was about the time when I wanted another baby after Adam. I couldn't help it, even though my brain said "Don't do it, it's waaay to early", my heart wanted another one so bad. Well, we held off another three months and then I was knocked up again.

@All: Thanks for the well wishes. I have plugged ducts every now and then but yesterday I felt like complaining about it  . I nurse Allie on that side a lot, put on a hot water bottle and make sure Allie's chin points in the direction of where the plugged duct is, that usually helps. Today is better already, though it still hurts a little.

Allie is sick. She got a good bit of Adam's cold and is sneezing and coughing like crazy. WE went to the pedi today and she jsut told us to keep nursing, no matter if she eats a whole lot or clusterfeeds, as long as I nurse she'll get all the antibodies from me. I could also use saline drops but only one drop in one nostril at a time and then suck it out with the bulb syringe. I'm afraid to do that tough, I did it a while back and I thought she's gonna drown...poor little thing.

KS: Yes nutts. Oh my..

Eveline: sorry to hear about the colic. Hopefully it go away with in the month.

It's amazing to see the size of the baby grow from a little bean to a real little human.

We finally found a physical therapy place that will take our insurance that is about 45 minutes away from our house. We will call the doctor tomorrow to fax her orders to the hospital. I am just praying we have to go only once a week and not 2 or 3 times.

Oh I fell for all of you with morning sickness. Hang in there.
