Hi Girls!

Today was our second appointment and we got to see the baby again, it went great, we saw the head, the litttle arms and one of the legs, oh my GOD I was in shock I still can't believe that there is a little baby (is it a baby yet?) inside of me. We are having our next sonogram on October 10th and can't wait to hear the heartbeat.

I left the doctor's office a little sad because I was planning to go back home the first two weeks of January and my whole family is very excited about it but when we asked the doctor about the trip she said, definitely NO! :crying: I was very surprised 'cause I know about a few people, friends from VJ that got to travel during their 5th or 6th month and it was ok with their doctor .

What should I do?? I don't want to tell my family yet because I know that I'm going to break their hearts, I was thinking about talking ot the doctor and ask her if she can reconsiderate her decision . Hve some of you traveled to your countries while you were pregnant?? did everything went well??

It's time to go to sleep, have a good night!

@Vi: my doctor was ok with long distance travel until 32 weeks. I had a very uncomplicated pregnancy and I felt great. I went to Germany 7 months pregnant and everything went great. I retained a lot of water on the way back because there was a 13 hour delay, but baby and I were just fine.

Definitely get a second opinion on this.

Vi, I'm sorry to hear your doctor said no to travel. Did she give you a reason why not? I only traveled within the US while pregnant, but my doc was fine with me traveling until 28-32 weeks along.

Can you go back to your country earlier than January? I imagine that may be difficult to do, but just a thought.

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the safest time for a pregnant woman to travel is during the second trimester (18 through 24 weeks). This is when a pregnant woman has the lowest risk of miscarriage or premature labor. Many doctors recommend that women avoid flying after 36 weeks of pregnancy or if they're at risk of preterm delivery.

Women who are having any sort of complications associated with their pregnancy or who are considered to be ‘high risk’ should not travel. This includes women with poorly controlled diabetes, sickle cell disease, placental abnormalities, hypertension or those at risk for premature labor.

Thank you girls for all your responses, after reading your posts I'll ask the doctors again, I spoke to my parents yesterday and they asked me if I asked the doctor about my trip but I couldn't tell them the truth. Another trip that bothered me was they way that she talked about my country, many of you might think that Peru is a poor country, yes it is , but Lima is a very modern city and we have excellent doctors and facilities. She said that I will exposing myself to a third world country, but Hello!!! I was born there and there is nothing wrong with it, I think she needs to get more info about my country.

Oh well, let's see what happen.

Have great day everybody!!

showing that to your doctor wont make him change his mind. I've read everywhere about exercising that i could continue what I was doing but he insists in saying up 20lbs and light cardio.

is it your first pregnancy? I think, atleast in my case, the doctor is trying as hard as he can so I won't have any problems, like m/c.

as for going back to your country, your doctor is delusional. It's one thing you living in a first world country your entire life, never exposed to any dangerous disease and decide to go to Ethiopia, for example, where they have malaria and other dangerous diseases.
