With Adam I told my parents right away, since we were in Germany when I found out and Eric was so nauseous all day because of the exitement, so I had to tell them to make him feel better, haha. We had one ultrasound at around 5 weeks and all we saw was a little bubble, not more, not even a heartbeat. The next US was at 10 weeks and holy moly there he was...with arms, legs and a head, looking like a human and doing flips. It was amazing.

Allie is now sick too. Adam has bronchiolitis and didn't go to daycare on wednesday and now Allie has it too. She can hardly even nurse and last night she woke up every 40 minutes to nurse, just to throw it right back up. I got a swing for cheap (25 Dollars for a Graco Swing...yeah me) and put her in there since she hates the bouncer. She's been sleeping in it for two hours now. Poor little babygirl. I hope she feels better soon. Until then, all I can do is get the humidifier going and keep the saline drops handy.

well yea, the lady who was 20$ a day, i now see why, she was the epitome of white trash, no toys, play pens, nothing...and she had beer cans on her counter...so alas, my last visit was to a stay at home mom to a 1 yr old, and she is fantastic..had every toy imaginable...and only charges 7$ an hour..im going to have my uncle run her background this weekend...but, i can feel in my gut that this is a good thing...she wil only have him 3-4 hours a day so it wil be affordable...

Good luck

Autumnchick I hope everything works out for your daycare. That has to be a scary feeling to get a notice like that.

Question?? For those of you have a babysitter that doesn't report daycare on their taxes do you still pay them for the Holidays you are off? I am thinking I should not have to pay for the holidays sense she does not report her income. Am I wrong here? I have about 3 months of a year in vacation time. 2 months in the summer and a couple weeks for winter break and spring break.

Vi Mazzella congrats

Alessandra Congrats on your baby boy!! Welcome. Do you have a picture of him? We love baby pics here

We are also lucky with Jaylyn sleeping now. She sleeps 8-11 hours depending on the night. I might have to get up at 5am if I put her to bed at 9pm to feed her some nights and then she goes right back to sleep until 9:30am. It is just hard to get her to go to sleep some nights. She is so tired but fights wanting to go to sleep. So I nurse her and she falls asleep. That is the only time she is nursed anymore. Winging her has been tough :crying: . But I am loving my sleep.

With Jaylyn we told family right away and I hid it from my coworkers for 3 months. I wanted to make sure that I didn't loss the baby. I know of many ladies who lost their babies in the first trimester.

Eveline- I hope your kids feel better soon. Bronchiolitis can be so rough. Speedy Recovery.

Ugh--my little Ilyas was awake from midnight until almost 5:00 last night! I thought I was going to go crazy...he was SO tired, but just wanted to be held--he didn't want to be laid down in his co-sleeper, or on our chests, or even in our bed. He eventually had a huge blow-out poop and then peed on his papa (Simo got a good laugh out of that--thank goodness). Eventually he fell asleep but left his parents exhausted.

I wonder what kind of a day we are going to have--he still doesn't want to lay down, but needs to sleep. He's noisily dozing in a sling on me right now...I want to go back to bed!

belwin, the lady we interviewed before the one we found wanted me to pay her regardless if zaid was there or not, and she wasnt going to claim it....i wasnt for it...if i am going to use someone at their home, i feel i should only pay them for what their doing.so the girl we have now will be paid hourly and only for the hours she works

That is one of the reasons we took Ayman from the lady that was watching him first. She expected us to pay her full price to 'hold' a place while we were on vacation. Simo wasn't having that. I can accept paying half price to hold his spot, but not full price for them to do absolutely nothing! The biggest issues we've been running into with in-home daycare is they want you to pay 'full-time' rates for 3 or more days, regardless of how many hours you are there a day. They also expect to be paid on holidays and vacations. State certified in-home daycare I can understand more as they have to report their earnings and provide tax information to you, but they are also supplimented by the govt. But to have to pay these people who want to be paid in cash so they don't have to claim an income is just BS imo. Sorry to sound like a rant, but we've been having a lot of issues with this.

Thanks Girls!

It's funny Sil is so excited, he is showing everybody the picture of the baby, my parents just sa it a few mintes ago through the webcam, they were really happy too.

I don't know if I asked this before but when did you told people that you were pregnant?? I'm just almost 7 weeks, still too early???

Vi

We waited until 12 weeks to tell everyone but our parents and my sister-in-law which we told right away (since she has maternity clothes she can send me). But that was just in case something went wrong, we didn't want to have to deal with telling everyone that. Not that something can't go wrong further along, but it's more "official". If you want to tell people now, go ahead and tell them!

I am 17 weeks now, it's so exciting!

They will wake up during the night again. At around six months when they start to roll over, crawl, sit, pull themselves up, get teeth etc...it's too much for them to manage during the day, they get excited and wake up at night. It's totally normal. I think Adam really slept through at around one year. Now, he sleeps through about 6 out of 7 nights. It depends on what happened during the day.

@childcare: I think that it's important that the person who takes care of my kid is happy. If you negotiate a salary then 2 weeks of paid vacation and paid overtime and holidays are fair.

If you pay an hourly rate (which should be higher than the hourly rate for a salary) then vacation is usually unpaid.

It depends on how many hours you need someone. I guess I will only need someone for a few hours a week, so I will probably settle with an hourly rate of $15-$20/hour for the right person.

I'm having a hard time trusting people with my baby, I'd rather pay more to someone that I am 100% comfortable with.

@sleep issues:Ben started tossing and turning the last few nights and he wakes himself up every 2 hours... He goes right back to sleep if I give him a pacifier or hold him for a minute, but it's just so hard waking up all the time, even if he sleeps in our room. He's such a light sleeper!

Miss Allie is driving me insane. As I said, she is sick too and she wants to nurse at night every 1.5 hours. It is insane. We are completely on a reverse cycle http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/reverse-cycling.html and I'm trying to keep her up during the day but she just conks right out whenever she feels like it. At night she grunts and cries mostly. Last night DH just took her and sent me to sleep on the couch jsut so I could get a two hour strech without interruption. Of course Adam was up at 6:30am instead his usual 7:30am. I hope I can get Allie lined up soon. Vent end. Thank you for reading :star:

Thanks Crashel and KS. I am writing my own contract for her to sign. To see if she will go for it. If not I might switch to my brothers girlfriend. My niece loves her and my brothers girlfriend has watched her some nights for me when I had meetings. She won't charge me for the hoildays and she might charge me 5 dollars less a day. It is just hard to pay someone for 3 months of nothing. Our babysitter wouldn't even have us if my neighbor didn't suggest us.

Jaylyn has her appoitment this Friday for 4 months even though she is almost 5 months. Jaylyn may have another baby girl 2nd cousin on Tuesday. So many babies in the family this year and we just found out about another one coming in April. Is anyone else having a baby boom in their family? We have like 5 little babies all born a few months a part.
