Is that normal that I don´t want to eat anything?? seriously I´m not hungry at all and here everybody is a little concern about that, specially mom.

I trade you. you start pigging out like I am and I will not be hungry :P

now seriously, even if you're not hungry, just force yourself to eat healthy stuff. Have a little of everything, some carb, veggie, protein, maybe some milk.

I wouldn't be to concerned. I wasn't very hungry during my pregnancy. I could hardly keep food down for the whole 9 months. I ate foods high in fat because the doctor told me she didn't weigh enough. But in the end she was fine and health.

@Anna C. - congratulations on your newborn. Enjoy (F)

@Mazzella - First congrats (F) don't stress over what you've done before knowing you were pregnant. If i do that I'll go crazy, because even though I know I haven't had 1 drop of alcohol, I was taking mynocyclin for acne and another med. that is a big no no, plus whenever i had any pain, headache, backache (i have some serious back/neck pain) I'd take whatever pain killer I had, including vicodin (that is also a big no no).

I was lifting heavy weight 5 x week + cardio, drinking tons of coffee, anyway... don't worry. Pretend your pregnancy just started the day you found out and focus on doing everything from now on the healthiest way possible.

Ask your doctor about your work-out. My doctor said I should slow down on my cardio (which i was doing already cuz i've been having no energy to work out), to not exceed 140 bpm, so I plan on buying something so I can keep track of my heart hate, and here's the worse part: he said do not lift heavy weight, lift like 5 lbs with free weights, which totally pissed me off cuz I lift up to 250 Lbs.

The doctos nowaday try to do everything possible to maximize the chances of a successful pregnancy. They say women are not supposed to lift weight. Today I carried 2 bags of litter, 6 gallons of water + food upstairs, which required some phisical effort, but I had no choice. Only I can do it. What happend to single mothers that can't have someone helping them? How come women a century ago would not even see a doctor and continue their life routine just the way it was and have 6, 10 healthy babies? We stress too much, the doc stress us too much, everybody else repeating the same advices stress us even more. But we wind up doing the best possible for our baby, anyway.

the cocoa butter smell makes me nauseous :dead:

no sickness yet. In the morning I feel a little bit, but not to the point of throwing up. It's like, I feel a burning sensation in my stomach and i burp a lot

i got dibs on the big pieces! :dancing:

í don't get that quote

Nessa good point. I taught all the way up to my pregnancy caring a keyboard every day that weighed 50 pounds. I danced all the way through out doing kid songs. The individual aide nurses thought it was amazing I could do all of that being pregnant. So I think its up to you and what your doctor says. My Doc said continue exercise the same way and I did not being pregnant.

Can my son sleep too much? He does have some awake periods--especially in the morning, but he really sleeps most of the day. If I didn't wake him to eat approximately every three hours, I think he might just sleep all day...

I think I ought to start charting when he eats and sleeps--my life seems to revolve around breastfeeding and hanging out while my newborn naps--it all just seems to run together.

Newborns sleep somewhere between 16 and 18 hours a day. Allie sleeps a lot. I've noticed longer wake periods. She stayes awake for about one hour at a time and then sleeps about two/three hours. At night she has long periods of grunting and screaming (about three hours, sometimes up to five) so I understand she has to catch up during the day. You can chart his sleep cycle but I wouldn't wake him too often out of deep sleep cause that is what babies need.

We have somewhat of a 'routine' although it's still hard. The worst time is late afternoon, around dinnertime. Allie starts clusterfeeding then and Adam's dinner time is usually around 5:30pm so it's tough to get them both fed and one of them is always crying...drives me nuts but what can you do, right?

I'm taking Natal Care Plus. I doubt vitamins will have any effects on your sleep. The only thing I can complain about mine is that it helps with constipation, and that's because of the amount of iron in it.

Carolyn,

its perfectly normal that first month or so for him to sleep all the time and your life to be a blur of feeding-changing-sleeping-feeding-changing-sleeping. Welcome to new mommyhood :) Over time his awake hours will lengthen but there is a LOT of sleeping the first weeks.

Hi all,

Haven't been around lately, trying to prepare for the baby which is hard cause everyone tells me not to get too many things before my shower which isn't going to be until Sept. 14.

Congratulations to all the new mommies-to-be!!

Are there any other mommies due anytime soon like me?

On the topic of lifting heavy things, my doc also told me not to lift anything over 25 pounds but its hard for me being a single mommy-to-be, to not lift things like groceries and laundry, if I don't do it, it won't get done. I try not to go crazy with it but I do notice more back pain than usual when I do those things. I'm trying to take it a bit easy now but I can't stop doing stuff around the house, I feel like I'll never get the house ready enough for baby.

Oh and HAPPY LABOR DAY! Hope everyone is out enjoying the end of summer.

About not being hungry while pregnant...i think for the first half i wasn't that hungry either then i remeber all of a sudden i would feed like every 2 hours i was SO hungry...i remember one night i got up at like 2 am to make myself a cheese sandwhich i was STARVING!!!!

Jax that is great about Jayla...sorry though she isn't taking day naps....i know for Kayla as soon as she gets fussy into the crib she goes and then she rolls over and is asleep...maybe try putting her to nap awake and see how that goes?

when Kaila was just born she slept all the time as well...i was so worried but everyone said it is normal...so i wouldn't worry about it!!

Well i think i found a food Kaila is allergic too...SQUASH....of all thing....i gave it to her yesterday during the day and she was fine then last night i went to put her to bed and she had these hives all on her legs and they were all swollen...so i put her hydrocortizone cream on and kept her up for a little but to make sure they didn't spread...so this morning they were gone....they only thing new she had was squash...anyone else have issues with squash?

Is there any of you taking MATERNA (WYETH) as prenatal vitamins? I feel like I am not getting any sleep in this vitamin.. I feel wide awake the whole day and it is difficult to sleep during the night..

Any people out there having the same problem?

I take Duet and I haven't had any side effects with it. I doubt its the vitamins, if anything you should be feeling more fatigued and sleeping more during the first trimester, at least that's what happened to me and everyone I know that has been pregnant.

Hi Nanny,

Things are going better for me. I'm dealing better with the situation, well as best as I can I suppose. The baby is doing well also, I can tell she is running out of room in there, all she does is wiggle around, the kicks are not as strong as they used to be. I think she is going to be a big girl , she was already 4 lbs 8 oz at my 3d ultrasound session 2 weeks ago, but I keep hearing those estimates aren't always accurate.

Oh yes I have a name finally, I've decided on a first name: Amaya. I'm still deciding on a middle name.

oh, about not being able to sleep, i started not to when I found out I was pregnant. But i think it's because i've been extremely anxious and excited, definitely not because of the vitamins
