Get a real good supportive bra for your girls. I never had the girl problem - luckily - cause I'm a D to start with, haha. I bought cocoa butter but I hated the smell after two days and I still hate it. I use Vitamin E oil now or just whatever lotion I can find. I didn't get strechmarks with Adam but I did get a very few with Allie which is due to the C/S scar I think.

I was pretty good about using cream, but I still got lots of stretch marks on my boobs (early), belly (later in pregnancy) and a few on my hips.

My mom said hers completely faded, so I'm hopeful mine will, too.

I didn't get any stretchmarks, but I had the itchy belly feeling. I used Burt's Bees Mama Almond Belly Oil. It's about $10 only and as good as Mustela and free of any potential harmful ingredients. I just used it when my belly itched... I luckily didn't get any stretchmarks on my chest, even though I went from a 32C to 36D.

I haven't posted it yet here, but we had our baby boy Jona on August 19th, at 37 weeks plus 2 days. We had the natural birth we hoped for, no epidurals, interventions and so on. I had terrible back labor (and I think labor is worse than pushing!), but once I reached full dilation I pushed for 2.5 hours until he was born. Our midwife was fantastic and left me intact (as I wished, no episiotomy). I bounced back pretty quickly after his birth.

I was super happy with the hospital as nobody pestered me to circumsize or do the Hep B shot or eye goo or vitamin K shot or to bathe him (we left the vernix intact). They were fine with me bringing oral vitamin K and agreed that Hep B is only necessary if the mom suffers from it, otherwise it's perfectly fine to vaccinate at 3 months. They also didn't have a problem with us refusing the eye ointment as I tested negative for all the diseases and then it's not necessary. Our nurses were just great and supported us tremendously with breastfeeding. I need to use those shields as he cannot latch on otherwise. When he was too weak the first 2 days, we pumped and fed him with a SNS system (a small tube you attach to your finger so he suckles the pumped milk from your fingers, to promote buildup of the muscles in his mouth). I was so happy that they are so pro-breastfeeding, they never offered him a bottle, pacifier, formula or sugar water but helped us with teaching him to nurse. It was really exhausting, but absolutely worth it!!! He stayed with us in the room (it was a family labor-delivery-postpartum room with a bed for dad and a crib for our baby) the entire time. When he left for the PKU test and hearing screening hubbie went along.

He weighed 5lb 10 ounces and we were released Friday at 5lb 6 ounces, but on Monday (when he was 6 days old) he already weighed 5lb 13 ounces. He's gaining quickly and eating well. He already doesn't fit in his preemie clothes anymore, though newborn size is still a little big. He had a mild case of jaundice which as of today I cannot even see anymore in his face. We go outside and walk him every day in the park so he gets some sunlight to fight the jaundice and I drink dandelion/milk thistle tea to promote a quicker breakdown of the bilirubin. It works really well!

Hi Girls!

I´m new to the club, hubby and me just found out we are pregnant last wednesday, o my B-day! while we are visiting my family in Peru, everybody is so excited.

I´m a little concern because last week we went to two parties and I had alcohol and smoke (I haven´t had a cigarrete for a long time) the doctor said that it´s ok because by then I didn´t know, so it´s not my fault but I have to stop it right away. You think that will affect my baby? I´m in the 6th week.

Another thing, I workout out regularly, go to the gym 4 times a week, take classes, lift weights can I continue with my regular routine?? do some of you still working out regularly?

Thank you very much

Hugs

Vi

@Nessa: See, the same happened to me. I loooved the cocoa butter smell first and made DH get me a bottle and after two days or so it just made me nauseus...argh.

@Vi: Don't worry. Your baby will most likely not suffer from the alcohol you drank. I had sleeping pills when I was pregnant with DS and some alcohol. I didn't know I was pregnant and worried about the same thing.

I would slow down the exercise a little. Maybe some weights and some lighter cardio are ok but I wouldn't go too crazy on it now. I remember going jogging with our dog when I was six weeks pregnant and the next day I was bleeding. It freaked me out but apparently I just overdid it a little, nothing was wrong with the baby.

@Anna C. - congratulations on your newborn. Enjoy (F)

@Mazzella - First congrats (F) don't stress over what you've done before knowing you were pregnant. If i do that I'll go crazy, because even though I know I haven't had 1 drop of alcohol, I was taking mynocyclin for acne and another med. that is a big no no, plus whenever i had any pain, headache, backache (i have some serious back/neck pain) I'd take whatever pain killer I had, including vicodin (that is also a big no no).

I was lifting heavy weight 5 x week + cardio, drinking tons of coffee, anyway... don't worry. Pretend your pregnancy just started the day you found out and focus on doing everything from now on the healthiest way possible.

Ask your doctor about your work-out. My doctor said I should slow down on my cardio (which i was doing already cuz i've been having no energy to work out), to not exceed 140 bpm, so I plan on buying something so I can keep track of my heart hate, and here's the worse part: he said do not lift heavy weight, lift like 5 lbs with free weights, which totally pissed me off cuz I lift up to 250 Lbs.

The doctos nowaday try to do everything possible to maximize the chances of a successful pregnancy. They say women are not supposed to lift weight. Today I carried 2 bags of litter, 6 gallons of water + food upstairs, which required some phisical effort, but I had no choice. Only I can do it. What happend to single mothers that can't have someone helping them? How come women a century ago would not even see a doctor and continue their life routine just the way it was and have 6, 10 healthy babies? We stress too much, the doc stress us too much, everybody else repeating the same advices stress us even more. But we wind up doing the best possible for our baby, anyway.

@NEssa: I second the weight lifting thing. OK, you shouldn't go crazy in the gym or so but I also had no other choice than carrying my 30lbs toddler when I was 9 months pregnant. He fell asleep in the car and I don't want to wake him up so I have to carry him. Also, what about groceries. My DH is not here most of the week and I can't leave stuff sitting in the car. As long as you don't overdo it you'll be fine.

Thank you for all your advice guys!

Nessa: Yes, that´s what I´m trying to do, not to think about what I did before I knew I was pregnant. I want to continue going to the gym, is my addiction it makes me feel so good, I just love it! The first doctor I visited here in Peru, (not my official doctor) told me that is ok to continue going to the gym just to relax a little bit with the weights, still I want to hear it from my gynecologist in the States (we still in Lima-Peru).

This might sound crazy but now that my baby is so little I´m afraid that is not strong enough and I will end having a miscarriage, is that normal??? Am I crazy???

Gracias

holy cow! hey I'm planning some re-decorating the house this weekend. u wanna come over and help with the heavy furniture? just for fun? :P

Vi: congrats on the pregnancy! rest assured- you are not crazy- you will worry about your tiny little baby from now on til the day you die. It's normal. (however, let me give you some advice- don't yell at your neighbour for breathing on your newborn, that might come on a little too 'kuckoo')

It's amazing how our bodies are constructed to keep a little embryo/fetus safe. I was in a car accident at 20 weeks and my baby was just fine! They are real tough cookies. Enjoy your pregnancy!

@Ks: zaid is soooo cute! Is he sitting up all by himself in the first pic? He's such a big boy!
