Really...did you??? I remember standing in front of the mirror, thinking that I couldn't possibly get any bigger than THIS:

In the end, I looked like THAT:

Congrats Carolyn on your boy! I love his name :) How did you choose it?

Ilyas (alternately spelled Illias or Illiaz) is the Arabic version of Elijah, or Elias. It has always been my husband's favorite name--he used to wish that he was named Illias (he is Mohamed--the most common name in the world, especially in Muslim countries).

When deciding on names, we came up with TONS of beautiful Arabic girls names that we both liked, but had a hard time with boys names. This was one of the few names that we could agree on. So, the only decision we had to make in the hospital about names was the spelling...

I love the name Ilyas, but I've already discovered that most people are very nervous about mispronouncing/misspelling it--add that to a difficult to pronounce last name and our poor son is going to be stuck with a life of always correcting people!

Eveline--love the belly shots! I wish I would have measured myself in the end! Isn't it funny how 3-dimensional we become when big preggo?

I loved being pregnant, but I am happy to be shrinking a bit now...I am looking forward to being able to move my body more easily (I was so bloated in the end--my feet and ankles were huge for months, and I had pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel in my fingers--they were numb for the last 6 weeks).

At how many weeks post-partum do you think I could start doing yoga? It makes me really happy...

Carolyn, I know what you mean about a difficult to pronounce name. My son's name (Declan) is mispronounced all over the place and people are definitely unsure of how to say it. It is pronounced Deck-lan, but we get Deeeeeclan and De Clan (emphasis on the De). How do you pronounce Ilyas?

Nessa,

I showed very early...and I spread out everywhere at first. I was out of my regular clothes by about 10 weeks (many of my clothes were fitted to start out with). By the end of my pregnancy, however, I mostly just looked pregnant in my belly and my face.

I have no idea why some people look pregnant right away and others can go months without looking pregnant. I have seen high school students make it to 30 weeks without anyone being able to tell that a girl is pregnant.

With my first son it took me forever to show and of course I was so excited I was dying to look pregnant......it didn't happen until around 20 weeks.

Second son started showing by 3 months...and my daughter I was showing at like 8 weeks.......
