My little guy got circumcized today  . I think he is a little in shock. He is sleepy and wimpery and doesn't want to be set down. I wonder if we are in for a long night...

As for me, my milk has come in with a vengeance! I always wondered what it would be like to have large breasts--I guess I don't have to wonder any more! Breastfeeding is going well, but it's tiring. Speaking of which, I better go wake up my little one to eat again...I am trying to make sure he eats every 3 hours.

@Nessa: An expanding uterus means that something is growing in it so it definetely means that you are pregnant. OBs can also feel how your cervix feels and if it is really hard (kinda like your nose feels) and thick PLUS when you are pregnant it goes very high up so it is hard to reach.

I second the colace. I got it after Allie was born and it really helped moving things along. I remember after the c/s it was very painful to do "business" since your intestines are stunned from all the moving around and stuff.

About the spitting up. Congratulations on your not so much spitter upper. Allie spits up A LOT and I mean projectile at least once a day. Last night around midnight she puked all over me. So today is the day I'll go get that mattress cover haha. I think she has some kind of reflux problem. I make sure I nurse her in a sitting up position. She is sitting up and it is so cute to see her nursing that way cause all I see is her eyes looking at me while she's sucking away.

ohh carolyn...i remember how careful i was after zaid was "snipped" although i did it the next day before we left the hospital...how come you decided to wait?? make sure you put lots of vaseline on those gauze pads, you dont want it sticking to the diaper...trust me!!!

it worked out wel that zaid got done right at birth, cuz he was soo tired and groggy from the birthing process that he didnt even get bothered by the circumcision and slept for the first 2 days straight, after that, im assuming the pain had subsided

Deciding on what to do about circumcision was a challenge for us--since we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, we hadn't completely thought it through before birth:

1. My husband wanted to do a traditional Muslim circumcision ceremony and party, ideally in Morocco, but I vetoed the Morocco plan (who knows when we will be able to afford to go next, and I just am not ok with the unsanitary nature of how it is often done).

2. The doctor on circumcision duty in the hospital was female--Simo was not ok with that--he said he wanted to get a local Syrian doctor to do it.

3. Finally we decided to just get it done at our Pediatrician's office--it was just fine, a male doctor who performs circumcisions all the time.

In retrospect, I wish we had done it at the hospital, but he's doing fine now.

Last night was pretty funny: at 1:30 am I tried to change Ilyas' diaper by myself...first, of course he pooped, which I cleaned up, then I got my first little boy shower! Wow, can he pee like a fountain! He soaked my bed! Then, I tried to squirt a bunch of vaseline on his #######, which got all over his legs and feet  . Looks like I, too, will be getting a waterproof mattress pad soon!

Hahaha Carolyn, that is just the beginning of many baby boy showers. Ayman has gotten me, Simo, the wall, his face, our bed, the floor....pretty much everything. You have to be quick with these boys. Hope his little wee wee heals quickly. I have a feeling we are going to be getting Ayman's redone. It seems they didn't snip enough the first time, but I'm waiting to see what his pedi says about it next week.

I'm glad Allie can't fountain pee like Adam. He actually managed to pee right in his face once, duh.

I must say I"M IN LOVE. I was at TARGET with my two monsters just earlier (got the mattress cover, haha) and Adam was so good sitting in the cart, munching on a cookie. Allie was looking around - yes, she actually had her eyes open for once and all content (I fed her in the car right before we went in so she was in milk trance mode) and I could go try on shirts and got some other stuff - trying to avoid the balls in the toy section cause Adam goes nuts over it.

Well, on the way home I was overcome with this urge to cry....I don't know why and I didn't cry cause I was on the interstate, not a good place to burst into tears. I was thinking about how two weeks ago I couldn't imagine life with Allie, I felt bad to bring home a new baby without Adam being 'in' on the plan. We didn't know how he was going to act around her etc...Now, two weeks later I can't imagine life WITHOUT her. Yes, the nights suck and sometimes I just want to put her in another room and let her fuss for a while but seeing her nurse or just look around and make all those funny little faces...ahhh, pure bliss. I love my two babies, I don't know how we managed life without them. I just think it's so amazing that our bodies know how to make a baby and put arms where arms belong and feet where feet are supposed to go without ever teaching it. I guess it really is a miracle.

I'm sorry for the sob story. I'm sure most of you mommies have felt the same. I just had to let it out. Now I can cry, haha. Both are asleep (no grunting so far..cause it's daylight) and I guess I'll have some "ME" time (meaning I have to do some laundry  ).

Eveline-Aww. :) I also have felt the same about Kavi and looking at him makes me know that I want another baby. Of course the first couple weeks are very overwhelming but then it becomes normal feeling. I am glad Adam has adjusted well to it. Friends of ours who had their baby 2 weeks ago, also have a 2 1/2 year old and they are having problems. I guess she's old enough to talk and know what is going on so she says things like "Mommy, he doesn't talk!?" "Can you put him back, I don't like him". :o lol They said she must have imagined someone who could already talk and play like her and was disappointed that he can't do anything right now. They are trying to get her to be happy about it.

Kavi wasn't circ'd but we go for his Surgeon appt on Sept 10th and then we'll find out when his surgery for the hypospadia is and getting circ'd is part of the procedure.

I think Adam understands that Allie is going to stay but he is not old enough to know jealousy. I do see him every now and then patting her belly a little too hard but I think that is just because he doesn't know yet that he is being rough with her. She never cries because of it and he doesn't hit her hard or so and as soon as I see it and say something he pets her head...so cute. He does steal her pacis though. She doesn't like them but he does very much.

I was more emotional with just Adam than I am now. DH keeps asking me if I have some 'weird' thoughts. He's concerned the two of them overwhelm me and I get PPD but that is not the case whatsoever. I told him that I will talk to him as soon as I feel something coming up but I'm surprisingly calm, even when Adam throws a fit. We went to story time and he coulnd't sit down and always wanted to go on a little stage. They are not supposed to go up there while stories are being red and I asked him (after I got him off the stage for the thrid time) if he wanted to go home and he said "bye" and waved...so I took him home. Story time was still going on but apparently he didn't want to be there. I have no problem cutting playdates short when he is being 'naughty" (as supernanny likes to say haha). It keeps me calm and I don't stress out as much and he won't throw fits.

We have one, but they don't work very good. Unless your child doesn't move at all, they aren't worth it cause they just fall off or get kicked across the room. A washcloth works much better.

haha Eveline, I think you're a great mommy! Kudos to you for taking the 2 out all by yourself already!! I don't remember what life was before Ben either. i just don't. Sure I had more sleep, time, and shaved legs, but it's just so much fun and I too get overwhelmed with how lucky i am to have him. :star:

about the circumcision: Ben isn't circumsized, it's not part of the european culture. The few "benefits" just aren't worth it to put my baby through that painful procedure. My pediatrician doesn't recommend it anymore, but they approached my husband about it at the hospital a few times about it, even though we said no. And they actually sent us a bill for the circumcision!

Eveline -- what you wrote was absolutely lovely. "Miracle" is the perfect word to describe children (L) I once heard a woman say that having kids was like having your heart walking around outside of your body. I really liked that....

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Has anyone here used the prescription Reglan? For some reason, my milk production has suddenly decreased dramatically and my supply simply cannot keep up with my baby's demand. My doctor has prescribed Reglan and I just want to know if it is really effective or not, based on other's experiences.

Thanks!
