TNH...I would call your office and ask...mine Seriously stressed not doing it...he said it could cause the placenta to tear on my cervix or something

I will just hold the husband off. The peri's office called me yesterday. He had called my ob to discuss what they wanted to do regarding a cerclage. My ob is pretty reasonable and asked to have me monitored. So...I go for a cervical check u/s on the 14th. If DH can't hold off until then (and I can ask some questions), then he is just going to be out of luck!

Kavi is soooo precious :) I love the pic of you and him, you look so bonded.

Declan is doing much better. We saw the surgeon yesterday for his 3 week follow up and she says he is healing nicely. We can finally give him a real bath again (sponge baths just ain't cutting it!!!). I have one more week off and then I have to return to work, which is a bit anxiety provoking. Oh well, I will survive.

I need to ask some questions of the mommies out there who have had a C-section.

How long were you in the hospital after delivery?

How long did it take after you went home until you felt fully recovered?

When you got home were you able to care for the baby or did you need a lot of help?

If you delivered naturally previously, was the C-section easier or harder to recover from?

When you got home were you able to care for the baby or did you need a lot of help? all i could do was take care of baby. there's times she eats 12 times a day, or will eat for like 45 minutes, so it's nice if someone is around to help you re-arrange pillows and stuff to be comfortable while baby is eating, especially while yr tummy is still sore. and it's really nice having someone around to bring you a glass of cranberry juice while baby is eating. feeding a baby makes you thirsty. but it was mostly the other things, like taking care of my older son, cooking, other household stuff etc. that i needed lots of help with.

If you delivered naturally previously, was the C-section easier or harder to recover from? dunno, i've only had c sections.

How long were you in the hospital after delivery?i was in for 3 days..could have stayed for 4 days, but the dr.s didn't see a need to keep me longer

How long did it take after you went home until you felt fully recovered?I still don't feel fully recoverd..my c-section was from the navel down(reason they cut like that Kaila never dropped low enough for them to get her out the other way) there are times when it is sore and just feels funny..but i guess for me to get to the point where it didn't take me forever to sit up or down i would say a good month

When you got home were you able to care for the baby or did you need a lot of help?i was able to care for her..my mom helped a couple times at night so i could sleep a little bit...i found sitting on my bed to change her and dress her helped me a lot!!

congrats and welcome Joanna&Bobby!

Autumnchik-How is Declan?

Today Kavi is 6 months old! AAh!!! My baby is 6 months old. I can't believe it. And he was born on a Friday too. I'll have to take some cute pictures of him later.

How long were you in the hospital after delivery?

I was in the hospital four days total. Went in for induction on Thursday, had Adam on Friday and went home on Sunday.

How long did it take after you went home until you felt fully recovered?

Five days for the scar to be better since the staples came out, two weeks until I felt comfortable enough to lift things again...about six weeks to start working out again and more than a year to get over it mentally.

When you got home were you able to care for the baby or did you need a lot of help?

NO, my husband had to hand him to me, get the carseat in the car, change diapers, rearrange pillows, get food etc...I didn't have any sense of time for about two days and slept whenever. You will need at least one week of total help, after that you might be able to do it by yourself but I think that will only work if you only have one baby, since you are not allowed to lift anything heavier than your - lets say - 8 pounder, aren't allowed to drive a car or even use a vacuum cleaner (that shouldn't be the problem though, haha).

If you delivered naturally previously, was the C-section easier or harder to recover from?

I think if you tear badly, you will still need help. See, Chnst here broke her pelvis and was in a wheelchair forever, yet she had vaginal birth. I don't think it was any easier for her than for the c/s mommies. BUT, chances are, if you have an uncomplicated birth without much tearing, YES you will recover faster from vaginal birth than a c/s.

Hope that helps a little.

The c-section was Fri night at 7pm-ish and we left Sunday night at 9pm or so. So 3 days I guess, only 2 nights. I really wanted to go home. We would have went home Sunday afternoon except we waited on tests that were done on Kavi. I had been at the hospital most of Thurs with contractions and then all day Fri before the c-section.

Fully recovered? Hmmm...maybe a week until I didn't have much pain anymore, and a couple weeks to start feeling normal, and couldn't lift heavy things for over 6 weeks.

I needed a lot of help the first week. For myself too. I could not get out of bed by myself the first 3 nights at home(couldn't at the hospital either), then it got better each night. At the hospital hubby had to change the diapers, feed when we used bottle, and at home he did most of that the first few days too. My husband and mom and sister all helped a lot. Hubby was home that whole week, and after he went back to work my mom helped me still a lot. I had the opposite problem of Eveline with the sleep after the c/s, I could not sleep at all at the hospital and hardly slept for 3 days which is why I badly wanted to go home to my own bed. I am sure that lack of sleep did not help my recovery.

I only had the c-section so I don't know about which is easier. I assumed natural was but there have been some stories with that too.

I think maybe if you don't have labor before a c-section(like if it's a planned c/s) you can feel less exhausted afterwards than being in bad labor for a day or more before having to get the c-section like what happened to me.

Hey ladies,

Kavi is so adorable, I can definitely see the resemblance to his mommy and KS your little one is so cute as well, I love the first pic in your siggy.... I love baby pics in general keep them coming!

I am so hoping not to have a C-Section, I've never had major surgery so the thought of it makes me shiver! I know I should mentally prepare for it just in case. At the same time, I'm also petrified about vaginal birth and tearing badly. Childbirth just scares the ####### out of me because I don't really know what to expect as far as pain and I consider myself to have high pain tolerance (I used to get awfully painful period cramps) but still the more I think about it the more I want to say... :help:

mommy2be....I went into labor telling myself I had a high tolerance for pain...and I managed to sit thru contractions for 3 days at home and dialated to 6cm..For me it was never "that bad" I also did get an epidural at 8cm (not that i was in excrutiating pain) but I was fearful of what it would feel like when he was coming out...Needless to say, the epi was done twice and it never worked, and all in all, it wasnt anything terrible..

Are you going to try to not get an episiotamy (sp?) Before zaid started to crown, my OB looked at me and said, "If I dont cut you, You are going to tear horribly." (zaid was 9lbs) so, Right then and there She did...The cut wasnt big, just enough, and it healed within a week..at about 8 weeks postpartum, The sensitivity was gone and now I wouldnt even know I had it done..
