I don't know who wrote about it , but I was really surprised about giving infants tylenol.

As far as I know infants younger than 6 months shouldn't take tylenol and no Motrin for babies younger than 12 months.

I've been wondering about this too. My little guy has his shots next week. I don't have any Tylenol or Motrin onhand because, when I asked the pediatrician at the first visit after hospital discharge, she was adamant that I should NOT give them to him, to call them instead if he has a fever, and she recommended that I shouldn't even have them in the house yet (wait until he is older).

the dose recommended by my ped is .4 every 6 hours...i already gave it to him and within 15 mins he was comfortable and is now sleeping...

the shots broke my heart, id ont know how i am suppose to do that 4 more times in the next 10 months...thank god daddy was there to give him some TLC

yea, zaid is almost bigger than his cousins, he clocked in today (2 months old) at 13lbs6oz 25 inches!! He is a taaall boy!! thats over 4lbs and 4 inches bigger since birth..

@J&P: if you check the box- it doesn't give you a dosage directions for children under 2 years. I think babies livers are too immature to handle Tylenol in certain doses. my pediatrician doesn't recommend it either.

I figured out an alternative immunization plan for Ben and my pediatrician ok'd it- he only gets 1 or 2 shots every month and I hope that will reduce side effects and make him less sore.

@Eveline: glad you're doing good! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

I can't believe my little guy is 2 months old today! He clocked in at 14lbs5oz and 24.5" last week.

He slept from midnight to 6am last night! woot woot!

I think "Infant's Motrin" label states "For infants 4month to 2years" or so. Adam had a slight fever after his first shots (I didn't know you can space them) but it came down after we kept him only in a diaper that day. He was fine the next day. Now, we don't use any Motrin/Tylenol anymore even when he's teething. I give him some Orajel, Dentinox or some Hylands Teething Tablets every now and then but usually his chocolate milk is all he needs and he's fine.

@Chnst: How is the breastfeeding going? Did your supply finally adjust to Ben's needs? Sorry for the TMI but my tatas are back to making milk. I guess I'll have to get some Boobie Pads even before babygirl is born. I can't wait to meet her.

What made me sad yesterday at the shower was that...out of three pregnant girls there (one only 8 weeks along) two already knew their delivery date. Their doctors didn't even consider a VBAC, they just set a date for another C/S. It scares me. I hope my doc won't be talking c/s too soon. He said he'd let me go up to 40 weeks and I will try everything to dilate and hopefully go into labor before that. BUT - as I said before - even if I have to have another c/s it won't be as devastating this time around. I feel a lot more prepared I just hope I can get the section early in the morning (how about 6:30am haha) or otherwise I will be driving everybody crazy.

Eveline - Crossing fingers for you that you get to have a VBAC :)

Chnst and KS - Whoa, you have some BIG babies!!!! And tall too :)

I am looking forward to seeing how much Declan has grown (but not looking forward to the shots part of the 2 month visit). Last I weighed him at a mother's group I go to, he was 10 pounds 3 oz (this was at 7 weeks). He had gained 3 pounds 5 oz. since birth. He seems fairly tall to me though .. my tall skinny baby. He has already outgrown some of his 0-3 months clothes lengthwise, but not widthwise.

Chnst - Have you been able to get off the nipple shield? Declan actually nursed a few times without it, but for the majority, am still having to use it. I do think I am starting to produce a bit more milk, using the meds., so hopefully soon I can get him off the shield.

Of course, I had this discouraging thought today. I go back to work in less than 5 weeks. I am doing all this to be able to nurse him, and by the time I return to work, we hopefully will have the nursing thing down, only to have to pump and only get to nurse a few times in a day. Argh!

@Eveline: my supply has leveled out. I guess I could still feed triplets if I had to, but it's not so painful anymore and I can go about 5 hrs. I actually started to enjoy breastfeeding my baby now :star:

@autumnchick: I still use nipple shields... arrghh... I tried to wean him off but he doesn't buy it-he gets so frustrated and won't latch. It's a pain in the neck sterilizing them but I got quite a nice collection now and it works for us. don't you just wish they would sell these things in blue or pink? They're friggin' invisible once they fall on the floor.

awww... that sucks that you have to go back to work... I hope that it'll work out for you!

question for the breastfeeding mommies: Ben hasn't pooped in 8days!! I know it's fairly common for breastfed infants but it makes me nervous and he has a lot of gas. any suggestions? I feel like I'm sitting on a ticking bomb....

This is awesome, thank you soooooo much! How do you like the infant seat?

the car seat is great!! very easy to use!! the whole system is great!! The only this i would have liked is a bigger basket on the bottom to hold things...unless you plan on shopping a lot it really is not a big deal!!

Haha, ticking bomb. Adam never had poop problems until he got antibiotics at 5 months of age. It is completely normal - as you said - for breastfed babies not to poop for a while but I don't know if eight days might be a little bit too long. He is too little for laxatives. maybe, if you want to - and I'm no doctor - you can give him some diluted prune juice but I don't know if that would interfere with his feeding schedule. He still is fairly young. Sorry, can't really give you any advice on that one.

Chnst - Declan is pooping less as he gets older, but he still has at least one a day. I've read and heard from the lactation consultants that it is normal for breastfed babies to go a week without one .... but since you are nervous, I would suggest calling your doctor to put your mind at ease.

And yes, I wish those nipple shields were pink or blue!!! I have the regular ones and then the contact ones (with the cutout so baby feels more skin). I lose the contact ones so much more than the regular ones.

I'm still confused. There is infant tylenol which is recommened for babies up to 24 months. So is that useless? What do you do if the baby has a fever?

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

JP....any doc i have talked to recommends it in low doses..when Ms Taleen is here im sure yours will tell u the same...it has lifted all pain my lil guy is feeling from the shots...he slept thru the nite and woke up smiling

nannygirl, good luck with the shots today...aside from the scream he let out as the nurse gave him the shots, it really wasnt too bad, i had hubby go with me and i just sat in the back seat with him and gave him a bottle on the way home...he fell asleep and slept from 7pm til 2am, then he ate and went back to sleep from 230am til 7am..do u have someone going with you? if not, i would recommend it!!

autumnchik, Declan is sooooo cute, great to finally see some pics of him to put a face to his name!!

chnst, if ben still didnt go, i would call the ped... mine recommended Karo corn syrup, and within minutes it was an explosion.!!!
