jp, zaid had hiccups everyday from like 30 weeks and up...they are funny!!

zaids must haves that i would recommend...

a cradle swing, people say some kids hate it, but it is a life saver for me...

his boppy pillow, he loves to lay on it on the couch, lay in it to eat, etc, it snugs around him and i think it makes him feel secure

his mobile on his crib, at about 7 weeks he could really see the animals on it and it now can keep him entertained for 20 mins +

aveeno wash and lotion, his skin is terrible dry, and this was the only one that seemed to help.

i use Huggies supremes (make sure their supremes) evrything else leaked, the supremes never ever have

i bought a pack and play with a changing table on it, i LOVE using it, zaid, since birth, has been obsessed with the mobile on it, and all they are is these little grey teddy bears, but he wont take his eyes off em as i change him...and its the perfect height to bend, his changing table on his crib (i have one thats attached) is a litle high for me being only 5'2..ll be sad when hes too big for the other one!

one thing i would never ever recommend...its called like a "Soothing motions glider" made by fischer price, HE HATES THIS THING, and i have heard from many people their kids didnt like it.

a wipe warmer ive nevr used, i think when it comes to things like that, your kid gets use to it and expects it, i try to make things as simple as possible! lol...

i never cared for diaper genies, so instead i have a small trash can and i use diaper disposable bags ...i tie the poopy one in the bag and throw it in the trash, the bags are scented so there is absolutely no smell...plus the genies need to be changed often, the can is only once or so a week...

cant really think of anything else, i will add more if i do happen to though...

one more suggestion, as much as u wanna buy all the clothes for her, DONT!! zaid had like 30 0-3 month outfits and maybe wore 5.he is already in 6 month clothing because he is soo tall u never know how big shell be or how tall...your first few weeks will be mostly at home and u will want her in sleepers and onsies...also, dont stock up on too many newborn diapers, zaid was in size 1 after a week..again u never know....

oh yes, keep tags on things u get from ur shower, i made the mistake of ripping everything off right away and i now se i could have returned hundreds of blankets, onsies, etc that i have never been able to use....babies r us wil return things from ur registry and if u dont end up needed the things u can get more useful stuff like formula or diapers

Such cute babies everywhere! I can't wait for my turn now!

The round ligament pain is getting progressivly worse and on top of that, I had morning sickness today! Has anyone else experianced morning sickness in the 3rd trimester? Being pregnant is not fun!

I'm still having morning sickness in my third trimester and round ligament pain. Luckly my doctor gave me pills for my morning sickness and they've been a big relief. I belief that the nausea is common and there's really not much we can do.

I am skipping breakfast now to avoid the bad morning sickness. For some reason, it seems to be better after 10am.

Kelly...congrats to Sofyan on the new job! :star:

Sorry for the morning sickness. I had only sickness in the morning the last trimester. So I know what you are going through. Hang in there.

Chnst - Hubby and I must be crazy too, because we are also talking about another kid. Originally, when I talked about birth control options, hubby suggested just not doing anything to prevent pregnancy and see what happens. Of course, I told him he was out of his mind! We now are planning on birth control for at least 6 months and then discussing it again. Hubby is 44 and his biological clock is ticking :) LOL

Okay, so here is my update on the breastfeeding saga of Autumnchik and Declan:

I cannot believe it has been nearly 7 weeks of this already!!! Over the 7 weeks, we have tried every possible position, sought help from 3 lactation consultants and a maternity ward nurse, used nipple shields, used a feeding tube/syringe thing to encourage him to suck, pumped for a minute beforehand to draw my nipple out and stimulate the letdown, taken fenugreek and blessed thistle to increase milk production, tried to help him get very hungry so he would latch better (advice from a pediatrician) - which then caused him to be frantic, so then we tried to give him an ounce of pumped milk before feeding, pumping every 2-3 hours to keep my supply up, reading every possible thing online and in books about nursing, emailing a physician in Canada who is an expert on breastfeeding. I didn't truly realize how much I had been trying until just now, typing this up.

Sooooo ...... Declan has FINALLY started to latch better AND has begun taking my right breast too (used to only take the left breast). He still fusses and cries at times, and tends to fall asleep, only to wake up frantic and screaming when I take him off to wake him. I had been wondering if something else was going on, especially in the evenings, because it seemed like he wanted to nurse and was, but wasn't getting much milk. So, at my 6 week check, my doctor ran a prolactin screen. He called today with the lab results. Apparently, a normal basal level of prolactin is 70 and mine was 26, so he has prescribed Reglan to hopefully help increase my milk supply.

I wish I had thought to have this checked weeks ago, but better late than never! Here's hoping it works :)

I hope that the Reglan works for you. I don't know if I would of been as strong as you by this point. Keep up the great work.

Zaid goes to the babysitter for the very first time today, im a nervous wreck..i feel like i havent packed everything they might need, yet i cant think of anything else, we have 2 change of outfits, socks, a hat for outside, diapers and wipes, a paci (even tho he wont take one) lotion and tylenol, butt paste, a blanket and his boppy....any other suggestions??!?!?

reason zaid goes to the babysiter is cuz hubby FINALLY got a job, and not an odd end, taxi job or gas station, a REAL job, with a PAYCHECK, and all the benefits, insurance profit sharing, etc.the best part is, he is my dads partner, my dad is a chemical engineer so the hubster will assist him, he will work m-f 6am to 330pm..couldnt ask for anything better right? the money isnt all that great, but it is a start! im SOO excited!

How did Zaid do at the babysitters?

Congrats on your hubbies new job!!

Ok...Kavi is still having a hard time with teething, crying a lot and needing lots of attention and holding. I think I said one tooth came out but the other hasn't yet. I have tried almost everything I have heard of...dissolving teething tablets, orajel, teethers...nothing really has helped. Maybe the baby tylenol does a little. He sleeps at night thankfully, but my days are hectic lately. He is napping right now finally, which took a lot of time for him to fall asleep with me having to lay next to him. I am getting worn out. I want that tooth to come through!

autumnchik-You are so determined! I am happy that things are getting better and better with the BF-ing and I hope the RX from your Dr helps with the milk.

Kelly-Congrats to Sofyan on his new job!!

Eveline-Glad you aren't fully exhausted yet. Do you think it's because it is your second pregnancy? Were you really tired at this stage with Adam? Just wondering b/c I noticed after becoming a mom you have to work through certain things that you wouldn't want to before since you have another life to take care of. Like for example, if I got a bad cold in the past I would just want to lay around. Now that I had a cold with a baby, I had to keep being a mom and work through my sickness, so it made me stronger I guess and you have to tolerate more stuff in your own body in order to be there for them. Hope you continue to feel good!

JP-I hardly experienced any braxton hicks before my labor started, which always made me worry about going past due date. But I didn't! For me it was a tightening of the belly if I was walking fast for example. If I slowed down and breathed deep it would get better. But it didn't happen a lot for me.

N.O. Bound-I have heard some cons about the wipe warmer, like it dries out the wipes. I have the diaper champ, I got it for sale at Big Lots and still it contains the smells wonderfully!! I never smell poopy diapers in our house.

christina i agree, the diaper champ is great, we have one too....but wait till kavi gets bigger and the poops get bigger...then they smell :)

I love our diaper champ too.

Here is suggestions based on my daughter Jaylyn.

When they tell you the weight of your baby at your last ultra sound you can base what size of clothes and diapers to buy. We only had one pack of newborn diapers when she was born and only 2 newborn dresses.

We are just finishing our last pack of newborn pampers. She is 2 months old now.

We did not have enough newborn clothes at first. So we went to buy more. She still fits in newborn clothes right now but I see her growing out of them in a week or 2.

The Diaper Champ like people suggested

The boopie pillow is a blessing for nursing.

A mobile for the crib. I suggest not a crank one like ours.

A travel pack of shampoo, lotion, and all the good stuff. You never know what is going to happen when your out.

A pack and play with a changer.

My little girl loves her bouncer seat and is now starting to look at the items and play.

My little girl does not like her swing. I was not going to get one and then my cousins showed up one day and gave it to us.

Any huggies or pampers baby wipes. We don't like generic cause they stick together.

We love our rainforest's fisher price bath tub.

A ear thermometer (Jay just had her first fever this week and it was great to know)

If your breastfeeding Enfamil infant vitamins with Vitamin D.

Medal pump and some extra bottles.

Disposable breast pads

3 breast feeding bras and lots of button down shirts

Extra pads for the diaper changer so when messes happen you can wash them and they won't spoil your pack and play

Last thing pacifiers are our life saver.

Couple jars of Vaseline. We have one for our diaper changer up stairs and our pack and play.

We love A and D ointment too.

We have a travel bed next to our bed so I can get her easily to nurse.

One thing your really don't need is baby shoes. I would dress her up and take her out but when I went to change her she would stick her shoes in her dirty diaper.

We also bought alcohol swipes for the umbilical cord are hospital recommended and our pediatrician did not recommend.

For the umbilical cord Huggies makes a specific diaper for this to so you don't have to fold your diaper back. We had one pack my sister in law bought us and it was great!! One more thing for the umbilical cord is qtips to clean any extra dried blood.

I guess that is all I can think of now.

Oh one more thing I forgot if your nursing get a pack of Soothies at Mothers Maternity store and Nipple cream. You will need it for the first couple weeks until your breast get use to it.

Ok here is our must haves:

Boppy pillow (Ayman loves to sit in it on the couch and watch TV, eat, etc.)

Pampers Swaddlers (like everyone said, don't buy too many newborn sizes. We had to exchange a huge box of them for larger ones as the newborn size lasted about a week. My son is 2 months and in size 2-3 already)

Soothies pacifiers are a life saver.

Cloth diapers as burp cloths.

Bibs

Contoured changing pad (we have ours on top of a small dresser instead of a changing table)

Extra pad covers!

We have the Diaper Genie II, NOT the original one. The Genie II is much easier to use and keeps the smell in great.

Huggies wipes (I have the wipe warmer and love it, especially with a newborn that is colicky)

If you have a boy, get a wee blocker or something to cover his wee wee when changing him because he WILL spray you and the wall and sometimes himself.

If you have more than one car, get an extra base so that you don't have to keep moving it.

At least one SwaddleMe, more if your baby likes to be swaddled.

Plenty of crib sheets and waterproof crib pads

Receiving blankets

We have the Soothing Motions Glider and a swing. My son doesn't like either one

First Years Night & Day Bottle Warmer if you have more than one floor. It's great to keep upstairs to feed at night, if you bottle feed.

Deluxe Sleep positioner or a crib wedge.

Snuzzler infant support for car seat (My son only uses the top part now since he is too big)

Baby In Sight Mega Mirror for the car so that you can see each other while driving. This has been a lifesaver for me because when driving alone and he starts screaming I can see where his pacifier is to grab and plug him back up.

Lots of towels and washcloths.

Shampoo Rinse Cup

We have the Summer Infant - Mother's Touch Large Comfort Bather and he loves it. We had a regular plastic tub and he HATED it. We also have the Mother's Touch Comfort Bathing Sling. Both are more comfy for baby.

If you bottle feed definitely get a Dr Brown Formula Pitcher, bottle & nipple brushes, drying rack, dishwasher basket and Philips AVENT Powder Formula Dispenser & Snack Cup for on the go.

Large diaper bag, small ones are not sufficient for infants as they need more stuff.

Baby hangers if you plan to hang up his clothes, but buy them at Wal-Mart or target where they're cheaper.

Onsies, sleepers and rompers/sunsuits. My son prefers the one piece rompers/sunsuits that button up the front. His head is so big it's a pain to get things over it.

Babies R Us now has their own (and Evenflo) BPA free bottles for cheap. I use these to measure and store his milk for individual bottles. This is much easier for his babysitter. I think I got a 6 pack for $4.99. I warm his formula in these and then dump it into a Playtex drop in.

Mylicon drops, Woodwards Gripe Water, Baby Tylenol or Motrin, Johnson's Soothing Vapor Bath

Humidifier

Travel System

Small Cooler (long trips) and Thermal Bottle Tote (short trips)

I used the changing table attached to the pack n play for awhile and we only recently started using the contour changing pad with the changing table. I don't have the cloth covers for the changing pad thing....I use these Munchkins disposable pads:

41963662-177x150-0-0.jpg

It's 4.99 for a pack of 24 smaller(fine for first couple months IMO) or 10 really big. They last a couple days sometimes if pee or poo don't get on them hehe.

The pack n play with bassinet and changing table has been great!

I also love the boppy and would lay Kavi in it all the time, before he was moving around a lot. I have the walmart one that is cheaper and comes with an attachment to strap baby in.

Wash clothes if having a boy, to use during diaper changes to cover his parts since he might start peeing.

Kavi also liked the soothie pacifier best.

Well people said a lot of other useful stuff too so I ditto most of it! First go for the necessities, then you can work on the extras.

We never got a pack n play. We didn't find it necessary as he sleeps in his crib and also we have no where to put it. His room is right outside ours and we either use the monitor or I sleep in his room with him. We don't need it to travel as my mother has a regular crib at her house. What do you guys use them for?

When I was thinking about bassinets, because I wanted the baby in the room with us for a couple months, a friend suggested the pack n play because it would serve more than one purpose. A bassinet can only be used for one thing really. So we got the pack n play and he has slept in that so far. And the changing table came attached(I got a pack n play on sale, it was a good deal :) ). Soon I can take out the bassinet part and use the pack n play anywhere around the house or take it on trips for him to play inside.

Also it came in handy for us because my parents moved but visit us a lot, so they sleep in Kavi's room and he sleeps in our room in the bassinet, though he is about to be too big for it!

If you don't need it, then it's good because it's one less thing to have to spend money on! :P A lot of things friends have given or let us borrow...like a baby swing, jumper, walker(well haven't used that yet) and bebe pod. Things I didn't need to buy, yay!

Ok I see. Well we are looking at buying just a cheaper version that doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the changing table etc. We want to buy one for him to sleep in at the sitters and then have it to take with us when we go to Morocco. He's too heavy to buy the expensive one as he won't be able to lay in the bassinet part but for another 2 pounds, but he can use the play yard part for a while.

WOW! Thanks for the amazing responses ladies! This is very helpful and I will definitly be adjusting my registry based on these great tips! If you have more, please keep em coming!

one more suggestion, as much as u wanna buy all the clothes for her, DONT!! zaid had like 30 0-3 month outfits and maybe wore 5.he is already in 6 month clothing because he is soo tall u never know how big shell be or how tall...your first few weeks will be mostly at home and u will want her in sleepers and onsies...also, dont stock up on too many newborn diapers, zaid was in size 1 after a week..again u never know....

I have not bought a thing for her actually...BUT...everyone else has. My friends, parents, and aunts have gone absoulutly mad. She has probebly over 50 outifits at this point, 5 pairs of shoes, 2 bikinis, toys, headbands, socks, onsies, blankets and I haven't even had the baby shower yet! Not to mention my mom invited 108 women to the shower. I have no idea what to do with all this stuff!

Sorry for the morning sickness. I had only sickness in the morning the last trimester. So I know what you are going through. Hang in there.

Thanks :star: You know as much as people warned that pregnancy would be hard, especially in the 3rd trimester, I don't think I could have ever prepared myself for what I am going through today. This is harder than I ever imagined!

Quick question I'm due with my little man in sept and I'd like him to have duel citizenship...does anyone know how I go about applying for it ?>?

If you have a Consulate or Embassy in your area, I would contact them. I am sure they could provide you with details. :star:
