Belwin - How much is she supposed to weigh? I would have thought that gaining 4 pounds since birth was good.

I have no clue she did not say. She was 9 pounds 11 oz at her last appointment for one month. But we had to reschedule the one month appoitment due to the doctors office so she was really 1 month 2 weeks at the last appointment. So she is worried she went from 50 percent tile down to the 25 percent tile. I think she is just fine.

chnst, i think the 14lbs of baby she was talking about was twins...splitting the 14lbs up!! lol...

Zaids shot day is in 9 days! I think about it every single day..Its going to break my heart...it scares me bc when my cousin had her 2 month shots, she spiked a 105 fever, stopped breathing, and ended up gettin rushed to children memorial, she then had to wear a heart monitor for 6 months...i guess i just have to think positive right?

Carrie i hope ayman is ok, sounds like hes growing about the same rate as zaid, although i think zaid will be just over 13lbs at 2 months..

oh, and, im proud to say, I have a brand new baby, i get to actually get off work and cook and clean. this formula has worked WONDERS..he is independant, takes longer naps, eats whole bottles without wasting, he will self soothe by sucking fingers, yesterday, he didnt cry, not even once, its so nice..complete 180 from last week to now...i wish i woulda got him on it sooner!!!

I am thinking about going back on Weight Watchers but am wondering how many extra points I should give myself for nursing.

Weight Watchers has a program for nursing mothers and they allow extra points (they'll tell you how many). I am going to join soon. I had been going to WW before I got pregnant, lost weight and them boom, got preggie!

carshel-Kavi aslo gets 5 vaccines, but they didn't make it separate needles! Ouchhh. It was 3 needles in total. 2 in one leg, 1 in the other. I wasn't sure about the oral one so we skipped it at 2 mo. I tried getting it at his 4 mo appt but the Dr said since he didn't get it at 2 mo to just not do it.

I went to the MD yesterday and she confirmed I am pregnant. (but I knew that already  )

She gave me referrals for OBs and for the midwife program at the local hospital. I set up a "meet and greet" with a midwife on Monday. My insurance will cover midwife or OB. If things get complicated, I'll obviously switch to an OB but I like the idea of a midwife.

Did any of you guys use midwives? The ones at the hospital are nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives.

I like the idea so far, but don't know a lot about the difference since it would be a hospital birth.

I'm already learning lots about newborns from you all, already. thanks!

I used a certified nurse midwife. I loved her! She works in the same office as a OBGYN surgeon so I felt comfortable knowing if something major should happen, I could use the OB doctor. She wasn't a total hippie(I didn't really want a very hippie-ish midwife), just very sweet and smart. She knows just as much as the Dr but just isn't authorized to do everything a Dr can like be in charge of surgery. Well I had a c-section at the end(unplanned, after long labor) so the OB from the office had to come do the c-section but I was pleasantly surprised that my midwife also was his assistant during the C-section so I had 2 wonderful medical people helping me out. And I was happy I still go to have my midwife with me during the surgery. C-sections can be scary to think about but they both made me feel extra calm.

You might find offices that have both midwife and OB like I had. I chose to only see my midwife through my pregnancy. But the OB Dr, when I finally met him, was a total sweetie too. Good luck finding a nice place to go!

Well it's been a long weekend. Ayman was cranky after the shots, but that night was horrible. He was running a fever, crying constantly and wouldn't eat. I kept alternating the Tylenol and Motrin thru the night and he slept on the couch next to me in nothing but a diaper and a very light blanket. He woke up in the middle of the night screaming and it was obvious his little legs hurt. They were sooooo swollen I could barely get a diaper on him. Yesterday he was a little better, still a bit lethargic and not much appetite. He slept quite a bit. His fever broke sometime last night and today he's much better. He's getting his appetite back and smiling again. He even watched a Baby Einstein video in his boppy without fussing. I swear if vaccines were not required for school I would never put him thru it. But, unfortunately in order to go to daycare or school he has to have them. Also, we would like to be able to travel back to Morocco and not have to worry about him catching something that we could have prevented.

Kelly- I think if you've been to your post-op appointment and cleared for everything else you are ok to use tampons. It's up to you to decide if they will be comfortable. Glad to hear Zaid is doing much better.

HI all, its nice to see all the beautiful babies :)

Shots suck but I have found also that a warm bath helps those little legs feel better, also the nurse told me when my son was a baby to try that first day to move the legs around (gently bicycle) because it keeps the shot stuff from sitting in one place and the legs from stiffening and getting a huge knot. If you dont do it on the first day then dont try it the second because by then the legs are too sore and it will just make baby cry.

Its cool that your docs will space out the shots, everytime we've gone its been 4 or 5 shots. But I do want to share an anecdote, I went to college with a girl who got the mumps in her 20s because her parents didnt get her vaccinated. Mumps in adults often causes sterility and I can assure you it was really heartbreaking to see a young women just beginning her life face the prospect of never having a baby of her own because of something completely preventable. so for me I just grin and bear it at shot time. I've also read a lot of the information available about the link between vaccinations and autism and as more studies get done it looks less and less like there really is a cause/effect thing going on.

anyway, hope everyone is all right and doing well :)

Amirah is almost 8 months old and has her first cold right now. She is also getting all 4 top teeth and the last few days have been quite unpleasant for all of us. poor little girl. its so sad when they hurt because they just have no idea whats going on :(

Oh man do I know what you are taking about you work so hard then bang your pregnant and gaining. Thank goodness pregnancy weight comes off easy. :)

I was just wondering cause I am going to do without meetings or online tools. I have all the old packets so I am going to try doing it on my own. Maybe I will just try it after I stop nursing. Nursing is great for a fast metabolism. So far I have lost 37 pounds

Sara,

Thanks for the information on the shots. When go to her next appointment I will try those ideas. We went to my girlfriends kids birthday party today and her mom was like she is being so good. I was hoping that would last but her leg is still red. So after a few hours there the colic came back and I had left the Tylenol at home poor little girl. Then we had an hour ride home she only slept for 15 minutes and crying all the way home. She does not sleep on car rides. I thought car rides were suppose to put babies to sleep.

Tampons are O.K. to use but they still might be uncomfortable.
