So Jay screamed for her sot today. When we put her in the car seat she finally calmed down. Doctor wants to see her in 3 weeks because she doesn't weigh enough. I think she is just fine. She will also get her 3 month shots then because we will be going to Jamaica when she is 3 months old. Jaylyn is 10 pounds 9 oz and 22 inches. She has gained 4lbs and 3 inches sense birth.

Belwin: Here's a growth chart from the WHO http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/c...girls_p_0_6.pdf

I read it wrong in my post before this one so I'm editing it. Your babygirl does seem a little below the standarts but as long as she's thriving and doesn't show signs of dehydration etc. I wouldn't worry. My friends babygirl was born 6lbs 14oz and went down to 5lbs 5oz before she got the hang of breastfeeding (at around 2 weeks). It took her a while to gain weight and is now - at 1year - at a happy and healthy 25lbs.

Awww poor baby. I hope she is doing better today.

My lil' man goes for his shots in about 2 hours and I'm already nervous for him. I've been wondering if Ayman is gaining enough weight. Last time we were there they told me he wasn't. It's concerning me as I think he's only gained maybe 4 pounds since birth too. He's really long and slim. No fat chubby legs or arms or anything. I guess we'll know soon....

My husband had Ayman asleep on his stomach last night. Apparently he feels better on his stomach because of the colic. When I woke up this morning I went into the baby's room and there was my husband and the baby both asleep on a blanket on the floor. It was so sweet.

carrie i hope hes ok....and thats tooooo precious.!!!!

Oh boy that was an experience that I wish I never had to experience again. He got 6 vaccinations. 1 oral and 5...yes FIVE shots, 3 in one leg and 2 in the other. I have never heard my baby scream so bad. He had tears streaming down his face. We gave him Tylenol an hour before and Motrin about 2-1/2 hours after. He weighs 12lb 9.6oz and 23-3/4in. The doctor put him on Axid, a acid reflux medicine. We are to try it for a few days to see if it works, if not they will try Prevacid. He also recommended "Woodwards Gripe Water" to help with his gas. The Dr squeezed his stomach and oh boy did he let 'em rip. Poor baby was full of air. He has also suggested switching from the Nutramigen to Soy formula. So we are to try the gripe water and Axid and then if it helps, change him to Soy. He's a little cranky and his legs are definitely hurting him, but he's doing ok. We shall see how tonight and tomorrow go....

I went to the MD yesterday and she confirmed I am pregnant. (but I knew that already  )

She gave me referrals for OBs and for the midwife program at the local hospital. I set up a "meet and greet" with a midwife on Monday. My insurance will cover midwife or OB. If things get complicated, I'll obviously switch to an OB but I like the idea of a midwife.

Did any of you guys use midwives? The ones at the hospital are nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives.

I like the idea so far, but don't know a lot about the difference since it would be a hospital birth.

I'm already learning lots about newborns from you all, already. thanks!

She had another out burst at noon today. The worst part is she was suppost to get 2 shots and only got one because the doctors order had not come in on time. So we have to endure lots of shots in 3 weeks. My husband also lies her on her stomach when she is colicly. She slept like that for 4 hours both outburst. We just watch her carefully. Heck that is what they told my parents to do to me when I was a baby and I am still here. I am also trying to make her eat more but she doesn't want to. When she is full she is full. My mom said the doctor had the very concern about me when I was baby and no look at me all over weight. I am thinking about going back on Weight Watchers but am wondering how many extra points I should give myself for nursing.

The cutest thing right now is Jaylyn lying in her crib watching her moblie. She finally can see it. Every time it stops she cries and I have to go crank it up.

I also had round ligament pain. Mine didn't last my whole pregnancy though and did go away after a while, so maybe there is some hope. I got really big, really fast in the end and gave birth to 14 lbs and 4 ounces of baby and ended up with an overdistended uterus, so I'm not sure how it went away, but it did. Maybe because I really took it easy at the end of the pregnancy.

Kristi

dear God. Please tell me that was a typing mistake. 14lbs 4oz????? You deserve a medal.

ok, so shoot me, but we decided not to have Ben vaccinated like they recommend it. He will get Tetanus, Diphterie and Polio and that's it for the first visit.

I spoke to the doc and he's ok with spacing the vaccinations out, so he doesn't have to get too many at once. I can't believe how many vaccinations kids have to get nowadays!!! 36 within the first 18 months compared to 10 in the 1980ies.

I just don't think it's healthy for such little bodies to take all that at once.

I met my new neighbour and her 5 year old son at the pool the other day. That kid has severe autism since his 18 month MMR&Flu shot- he's mentally retarded and still in diapers. That freaked me out. She says that 1 in 150 babies get it and it has been linked to all the vaccinations.

That really bothers me. I do want Ben to have the most important shots, but I just don't want him to have them all at once.

Wow 3 shots she only got one but like I said the doc was missing the rest. So I can't wait to experience next time. I told hubby he had to go with me before he went to JA cause I could not deal with this alone. I don't know how you single moms do it.
