I tried it twice. I don't think she ever hated anything so much. But I have a weird model that never followed most of the 'rules'.

I feel a bit better than I did earlier. A small person was giving me a hard time this morning, then she decided it was time to start behaving. We blew bubbles, did sidewalk chalk, and read a little which was better than her destroying my chairs, feeding Cheerios to ants, and running in front of the vacuum cleaner when I was trying to vacuum. She is taking a nap now and hopefully she will be in a good mood for my whole family's Father's Day dinner tonight. This is the first time my family did not plan an event that happened exactly when my daughter has naptime. Maybe they have finally learned their lesson.

Hmmm sounds like my son is the oddball then. He squirms and tries to get free when he is swaddled, but it's the only way I can get him to sleep for 4-5 hours straight. He was always scaring himself awake with his arms, plus the colic. We just found that once he is swaddled he calms down, stops crying and goes to sleep better. We mainly only swaddle at night. During the day he likes to nap freely on the couch or falls asleep in his boppy pillow. But, his favorite spot is on mommy. :luv:

my little guy loves to be swaddled and tucked in. He wiggles his arms out after a while but he sleeps better this way.

@ks: wow I'm jealous! Ben sleeps about 6 hours at a time too, but I have to wake up and pump or my boobs are KILLING me. I got 4 hours, that's it.

@Belwin: childcare costs depend on the area where you live.

I worked as a full time nanny last year with an infant and a toddler and I made $600 a week. I live in the NYC metro area and that's pretty much what you're looking at here.

chnst, yea, breastfeeding is a full time job....hopefully it will get better for u soon...

carrie, well, nothing too different, we just kept him up a lil later than normal...he always sleeps a 7-8 hour stretch at night, its just normally he goes down at like 7pm...so, a little later is better on my schedule....i guess aside from the colic i shoudl be VERY greatful for the sleep, especially with being back to work already...

My little one loves to be swaddle at night when she is ready for bed. If she is not ready she kicks the blanket off. She wakes herself up by her arm and legs if she doesn't get swaddle at night. It is hard to get her to sleep without me. She will sleep with one eye cracked open a tiny bite. She is always watching me so when she is fully asleep I can put her down which takes like a 1/2 hour.

KS - That is awesome that he slept through the night!!! My little guy generally sleeps 2.5 to 3 hours at night ... except for the past few days. I think he is having a growth spurt, because he is extra fussy, wants to eat constantly, especially at night (waking up every hour or so).

About swaddling - when we first brought Declan home from the hospital, we swaddled him at night. We used a Halo sleepsack that had a swaddle feature (I am a big fan of the sleepsacks!). We still use it without the swaddle feature now.

We generally don't swaddle him anymore, except if I am trying to breastfeed sometimes. A lot of times, when I am trying to breastfeed, he gets very impatient that he has to work at it and doesn't just have the milk dripping into his mouth, so he kicks and punches my breast out of his mouth. Then, the swaddling works for a brief minute until my Houdini finds a way to get his arms out!!!
