Ah yes, the joys of the third trimester! I think I jinxed myself--everyone kept asking me, "how are you feeling?" and I would say "great!"

Now, just this week, I feel like my body is revolting against me: cankles (better today, thank you), acid reflux, numb hands (pregnancy-related carpal tunnel?) and possibly an unmentionable infection. Ugh.

On the bright side, I don't have to deal with students any more (I'm a teacher and school got out on Friday). I can just be uncomfortable in peace (only 2 more weeks of work--yeah!).

chnst--thanks for the idea of the watermelon! Mmm...

Eveline--looks like we might be due the same week--what's your official due date? I'm due on August 14th...

I'm due somewhere between the 10th and the 14th of August. That is going to be one heck of a week for us, huh?

I'm sorry you have to put up with all the pregnancy problems. The only real 'problem' I have is my preggo brain. It's driving me nuts. I locked my car keys in the car today, on a supermarket parking lot...how stupid is that? I had to call my mother in law to get my husband to give her the keys and then drop them off at the supermarket so I could get into the car again. Holy moly, I always have to quadruplecheck everything.

Other than that, I'm good (knockonwood). No cankles, water, heartburn (anymore), sickness, cramping etc. I feel great. Yes the heat is exhausting and so is Adam but it's alright. Gotta go watch soccer now.

Hi all,

I pigged out on salty/spicy food last night and I'm really regretting it. Any advice for suddenly swollen feet and ankles? I'm trying to drink LOTS of water and keep my feet elevated, but it just seems to be getting worse.

fyi, I went to my parents' house and checked my blood pressure and it was good.

sounds like you are doing what you need to do....they only thing that will make it go away is having your baby....mine went down about a week after Kaila was born...ugh i hated it sssoo much...the only thing that fit my feet were my crocs nothing else fit....

just keep a eye on other parts of your body...like fingers, face to make sure they aren't swelling up...

Oh my gosh you're lucky Eveline. I think most pregnant women have placenta brain. I know I do. I have cankles, heart burn ( I eat 600mg of Zantac a day), nausea, my hip hurts, I'm short of breath and sugars are high again. I can't wait till she comes out. 8 weeks and counting, but I have a feeling she's going to be late. Baby is still really high, but I am hoping that due to my diabeties the doctor will induce me early. Keeping my fingers crossed.

During the last half of my pregnancy I had heartburn everyday. No matter what I ate!

chnst-Kavi was all better by Friday midday of that week thankfully. So he had his shots Wed, fever all day Thurs and thurs night, then was ok the next day.

Something funny is that Kavi is so used to the nose sucker that he doesn't mind it. He seems like he might like it, lol. He had a lot of congestion all the time, which the Dr said just happens, so we used the sucker every day. He would know what it was after awhile and get ready for it when we brought it out hehe.

I Hope you are all doing well!

Kaila was/is the same way...one night it got so bad i did not sleep because i was up all the time sucking ####### out of her nose...so i invested in a humidifier and it seemed to all go away....

Did anyone of you experience anemia during pregnancy? My bloodwork shows anemic levels... I will discuss it tomorrow at my appointment, I'm a little surprised as my prenatal already contains 200% of the daily recommended dosage of iron.

As expected I don't have gestational diabetes :)

Ben still hates the booger sucker, but he's doing a lot better! The humidifier works wonders and now that it got so hot and humid I only have to run it during the night with the a/c.

@Anna: glad your diabetes test came back negative. aren't you soglad it's over? :) that was the worst test during pregnancy for me.

@ Chnst: Yeah I'm happy about that, I didn't expect anything, but I was concerned about how they wanted to do the test. After all, I wasn't allowed to move after I drank the stuff (coulnd't decide whether it was supposed to taste like oranges or cherries)... That kinda annoyed me, sitting for 60 minutes in the lab... With the AC turned on to like 45 degrees... I was shivering and prolly burning off the glucose that way ;)

chnst...dont feel bad bout ben getting sick, when i took zaid to the ped for his colic they found an ear infection, i felt like a horrible mom, but all in all, if its gonna happen it will...and fwiw zaid is 6 weeks tomorrow and also 12lbs12oz 23.5 inches...we have some big boys dont we??

dito on the booger sucker stina...ive used it daily since birth and zaid is use to it now, he only minds it when i suck a big booger from down deep and it kinda takes his breath away, btu he gets over it quick...

so, i took zaid back to the ped today and his ear is still a lil infected but a few more days of the amoxycillin should clear it up...the doctor decided we should get him on nutramigen made by enfamil, its a hypoallergenic lactose free formula for babies with collic, and i said it was fine, but when i got to the store and saw it was 30 dollars for the small can of powder i nearly shat myself...there is no way i can afford that, zaid goes thru that can in 2.5 sometimes 2 days...that would be exceeding 100$ a week...so, i called back, and he said to try enfamil gentleease which is a lil better at 17.99 a can...so, he has had two feeding of it soo far, no bad reactions, no spitting up, and he is now sitting in his swing talkin to himself...ill see how the next few days go..

i had my 6 week postpartum appt today...im back on the pill, cleared to excercise, and also do the deed, lol!!!it was soo bittersweet at my ob office, strange enough, i love it there, my docs, nurses, and the staff are amazing, they made being pregnant awesome, and i cant thank them enuf, its sad knowing, ill see them only once a year, until baby number two comes along...

back to work on wednesday, sad, i dont know how i will ever leave my lil guy for close to 9.5 hours a day..i know its gonna break my heart..

I totally understand about feeling bittersweet about not seeing the folks at the doctor's office as frequently. I really like my doc and his staff too and am a bit sad I won't be seeing them often.

I feel for you at going back to work soon. I have another 2 months, but am already starting to dread leaving my guy.

Ohhh don't. I'd be candidate for the supernanny then cause Adam hat seven ear infections within 13 months and that even though they say that breastfeeding helps prevent it. After I had weaned him off the ear infections stopped...weird huh?

@Anna: Sorry for the anemia. My levels were high enough and I don't really watch what I eat. Adam's levels were low though but at the last checkup they were back to normal, although still low but not too low anymore.

Nothing new here...Braxton Hicks like crazy every day, all day...drives me nuts. I'm busy getting babygirls diaper stash together. I'm too lazy/cheap to buy new cloth diapers so I'm trying to get them from the moms in my playgroup (a lot of them wanted to CD but never did) or my MIL. I have to find a site where I can create a registry that offers CD. Any suggestions?

www.amazon.com offers CD in the items you can add to your baby registry, not sure if it is the kind you'd like though but I remember they had a few different ones. :star:
