Yes, actually I have had Sujeet ask his mom and sisters about this subject. I do want to have Indian food be a part of Kavi's life early on. I just don't have the details on how much and when yet...Sujeet's sisters haven't done it in awhile since their kids are now preteens and teens. If you have good info on it, pass it on to me!
One of my cousins, a Maidstone paediatrician started her older daughter (born 1990, prior to her going to UK) on baadaam-kheer (note: before introducing this item to Kavi, you will need to verify that he does not have tree-nut allergy) at 6 mo. Another of my cousins, living in Chicago (but formerly in L.A. where her first son was born) started all three of her children (older son, born 12/1984; twins born 04/1989) on mung-dal/rice mixture at age around 7 months.

Mung-dal is considered by South Indians to be the "safest" of the pulses (and is oft given to convalescents).

Thanks for the tips so far...

Kavi will be 4 months on Sunday. :)

His temp went up to 100.7 and when I took it a little while ago was 100.1, the poor little boy is not happy today. He's sleeping peacefully right now though.

Keep offering. If your son is anything like my daughter was, food will be a kind of game for awhile longer. By 17-18 months she was a serious eater, but it took awhile for her to get any true and absolute interest built up in it. In the meantime, she got most of her calories from 14-18 months from whole milk, so I know that she wasn't starving to death. She caught on though. If there are no allergies, I might try scrambled eggs with shredded cheese or fruit yogurt. These are things that my daughter almost always eats with no problems. Some things she doesn't show a lot of interest in, but that usually means that she isn't that hungry in the first place. Maybe that is sometimes also the case with your son, particularly if he is still drinking a lot of milk from whatever source.

Time's flying, I'm telling you  .

Maybe Kavi has an ear infection. Fever was the only symptom that I noticed with Adam. He went up to 102 and it scared the heck out of me. But you said you have just been to his checkup and they usually check the ears too, right? Who knows, maybe he's just having a bad day. I'd keep him undressed if it's not too cold or give him some more Tylenol.

@Mommy2B: Congratulations. Just shows again...this year is a girl year. My friend just found out today that she's expecting another girl, too.

@Chrissy: I know another mom whos boy doesn't want to eat table foods. He only preferes mushed up jarred food. Just give him time, I guess he'll eat it when he's ready.

Time does fly! I should have said again in the post about his temp that it's b/c of the vaccinations I believe. He had no temp yesterday and was fine until after the shots. An update is that his temp went back down to the mid 99's, so hopefully it'll stay down and go further down soon. :)

just keep trying!! it can be hard for little ones some time to transition between mashed up and table food...if he is hungry he will eat it....question for you....do you offer him any milk or anything to drink before or during the meal? Because if you do that may be the problem he maybe getting full on the drink and not hungry for the meal....

also you may want to try making it fun...making a face with the food on the plate or i used to say to the kids i nannied for.."i bet you can't eat your chicken...or you carrots" and they would because they thought it was funny...try something like that

hey your little guy is just the size of mine! we had our first month check up today too! he weighs 11lbs 14oz. what a little monster!!!!

don't worry about the vaccine, hepatitis is usually contracted via sexual intercourse or in 3rd world countries (water).

My doctor doesn't start vaccinating until he's 2 months old either. it seems like every pediatrician has their own way. We interviewed a couple doctors and they all had different opinions on when the baby should start their vaccines and how many should be administered at a time.

so, I bought a hotsling today, the salesperson measured my entire body, size, weight, sense of humor and whatnot and sold me a size 4. I couldn't wait to get home and put the little stinker in it, because he's been kind of fuzzy all day. He immediately fell asleep but the sling just doesn't feel right!!! the shoulder part keeps sliding down and i have wicked neck and back aches after wearing it for only a few minutes. I suspect that thing is too big.

boohoo, I want this to work soooo bad! Is the baby's head supposed to be underneath the breast? His head is pushing right against it which ads on to my pain and misery since they are so engorged. :help:

Infants are weird. My daughter didn't really even notice that she had been shot at her four month vaccination. Both of us were prepared to hear her scream, but she just sat there and acted like absolutely nothing had just happened. Now, at 12 months, that was a completely different story, and at 21 months an absolute disaster.
