wow lots to read...

sounds like your a lucky mommy nannygirl...zaid never has slept more than 5 hours...and he only did that once...its normally 4 hours at a time...although, he is very consistent, so i do know what to expect everynight..

usually he is awake from 6pm-9pm, then eats and falls asleep about 10pm....he will sleep til 2am eat, go straight back down til 6am then eat, go back down til 8am...so i do manage to get 6-8 hours of sleep a night....which i am grateful for...his eating patterns are weird...sometimes its like hes starving for 4-5oz...sometimes he cannot even finish 2-3 so for now, we have been doing 3 oz feeding during the day, about every 2 hours, and at night he does 4oz because he is eating less often

Wow that is lucky 5 hours and even 4 hours. I can't wait for my little ones tummy to get bigger to stay full longer. She sleeps 3 to 2 1/2 hours at most. I sleep with her until noon because it is still rough. Hoping she will sleep longer when I go back to work the middle of August.

Shauna Thanks for sharing the thing about the ears. I wil pay attetion to that. So far all she has is cradle head.

what kind of schedules are your babies on right now? Ben is almost 4 weeks old and I think I'm totally enslaved to HIS schedule, which changes every day. sometimes he nurses every hour, sometimes he sleeps 4 hours straight and I actually have to wake him up for a feeding. also sometimes he eats for 10 minutes and goes back to sleep andthen there are days when he eats for 1 hour. is that normal? It's pretty straining, that way I don't think I've slept , more than 45 minutes at a time within the last 3 weeks. so tired!!

Same here! Everyone advises to sleep when the baby sleeps, but I need to eat, too

Drew wakes up anywhere from 2 to 5 times a night. And his daytime schedule is VERY inconsistent still. Breastmilk digests too darn fast :) He's ruled by his tummy...

ONE DAY AT A TIME....

Hello there. Well I finally have acess to a computer and can post. I've been keeping up with you ladies and I have to say congrats to all the moms and your babies. It's amazing how quickly your little ones are growing. The pictures are beautiful. I only wish I was more computer savy, I'd be able to post some pictures too.

I'm just over 30 weeks and have 10 weeks to go. I'm starting to get nervous. Have had a few sleepless nights. Wondering how in the world am I going to cope, am I going to be a good mother. I'm scared crapless that I'm going to have this new born with me and not know what to do. I sometimes wonder how people did it back in the old days. At least I have some resource books to read. Breast feeding also scares me. I guess it will come with time, the breast feeding i mean. Does anyone else have gestational diabeties? I have to go for another glucose tolerance test. If my sugars are more elvated I might have to get started on insulin. I got a little lazy and didn't watch what I was eating and poof my sugars crept up. So I'm back on my diabetic diet. I find that when I do these glucose tolerance test they seem to take so much out of me. I did the one hour fasting one last week and it took me a day and a half to recover. Other wise the pregnancy is going great. I have elephant ankles and I can't wait to get them back. None of my shoes fit any more, so I'm glad I'm pregnant during the summer as Flip flops have become my best friend.

My next question is, has anyone heard of a baby stroller called a BOB? Any experience with this brand. I'm also looking at a car seat by the name of Britax? Those are my two major purchases for the time being. I'm also looking at the breast pump called Medulla? Anyone use this type? What about Dr. Brown's Bottles?

Good to hear how you are doing. Sounds like you have the mom-to-be anxiety (that then develops into sleep deprived mom of a newborn anxiety!!! LOL) I think that people who worry and care about being a good mom ARE good moms!!

Don't know anything about the stroller. I use a Medela Pump in Style double electric pump and love it! I also plan on getting the Medela bottles because I have read that they are without BHA.

Zaid has his one month checkup tomorrow...Where is the time going?!?!?!?

He slept 10 hours last night....6 hour stretch the first time...and 4 hours the second...man was it nice!!

Oh my can Zaid teach Jaylyn how to sleep like that :D .

We went to Jaylyn's appointment today and the door was locked. I knocked and the receptionist just stared at me and did not let me in. The nurse called me 45 minutes and asked why I did not come in. I told her my story and she said wow I wonder who locked the door and aplogized. We will try for the 3rd time to get her one month appointment in on Friday. UGH...

Just to think talking about how time flys. It has been 6 weeks sense I have been off of work. School is out this week for the kids here. I planned this whole pregnacy just right. :P Just to think if it would of been 7 weeks and I would have to go back and teach for one week to get a pay check. Summer is finally here yes!!

I have Medeala pump love it and the bottles. Don't worry you will be fine as a mother it comes natural. It is amazing to think that life has come out of you. If you break down crying its natural the first couple weeks with post pardum. There are lactionishnist to help you at the hospital with breast feeding. I would not buy the breast pump until you get home from the hospital to make sure you real like breast feeding. Buy soothies and latch cream for your sore boobs pack them in your suit case.

Oh my shoes did not fit either I hated it. It took 3 weeks after she was born to have normal feet.

I know I sound like I'm complaining, I love my baby but I can't wait to have my body back. I was going through a book of useless facts at home and came across mammal gestation periods. An elephant carries it's baby for 22 months. Now how crazy is that. I couldn't imagine carring for that long and something that big. I'm thankful we only have 40 weeks. I only have 5 to 6 weeks of work left and than I get to wait for her arrival.

New Orleans Bound: Good to hear from you again. Don't worry about the complaining. You have every right to vent. I know some girls who said they are going to work until labor starts...that was in their first or second trimester. Once they went past the 30 week mark they changed their minds. Only a few really worked until labor started. It is hard to imagine at week 19 in your pregnancy how big, uncomfortable and bulky you get towards the end. You can't move, breathe, you sweat, moan, groan, might have some Braxton hicks that are painful etc...

All the best for the last couple of weeks.

Yesterday was Kavi's regular appt, more shots. He's had a little harder of a time with it this time then last it seems. He is ok but has a low fever (99.5-99.6) so he's a little irritable but also cuddly. I've been giving him baby tylenol. He's more sleepy than usual too. He weighed in at 13lbs 14.5 oz. He drinks about 5 oz(sometimes 5.5oz) at a time every 3 hours or so. The Dr said he is doing good. He started out under the avg birth weight and now is within the avg weight for his age.

The Dr said we can start rice cereal and after a little while can try oatmeal cereal. I am excited to see Kavi try to eat it, lol. It's going to be cute I'm sure. Then he said at 5 mos we can start green veggies, then onto other colored veggies and fruit last. He doesn't want us trying any baby food with meat or poultry in it til 8mos. He asked if Kavi had any kind of cereal or food yet and I said "No, I didn't want to try it until I was told it was ok" and he said "good job! You did the right thing.". :P

The only thing is he didn't really say the quantities or how many times per day. I know at first it's very very minimal, but I'd love some input from the moms about how they introduced solids...such as how much and how often? Thanks! :)

new orleans bound,

Not much longer, huh?! Yay! I will say that motherhood has been a life altering experience for me. At birth, you still can't believe that this baby was inside of you! I still don't believe it. :) At first I was very overwhelmed myself, and had some baby blues on and off for about 3 1/2 weeks. If you feel that way, know that it's normal. But it never diminishes the love and awe you have of your little bundle of joy. It just means you might need more help. Not everyone has baby blues. You will do fine!! Practice makes perfect, so even if you feel inadequate at first, within weeks or a month you will feel like you know tons more and wonder how you lived without the baby in your life.

Eveline-How are you feeling?

JessnGeorges-Are you out there? Is it any day now or already happened?

Yes, actually I have had Sujeet ask his mom and sisters about this subject. I do want to have Indian food be a part of Kavi's life early on. I just don't have the details on how much and when yet...Sujeet's sisters haven't done it in awhile since their kids are now preteens and teens. If you have good info on it, pass it on to me! :P

@Stina: We're good. Nothing new. She is definetely head down and I can breathe better and eat more. I don't know if she dropped or if it's because she finally is in the head down position. I'm huge and I'm ready for her to come but there's still some time left.

Good to see that Kavi is doing so great. Can't believe Adam has his 15months!!!! checkup on the 2nd. Time is flying. I remember introducing Adam some rice cereal when he was six months old and I cried because I thought he grew up way too fast. I don't think Kavi will actually eat at 3 months since babies that age still have the 'tongue reflex' which means they push everything out with their tongue instead of swallowing it. Also, he might get constipated because of the added iron in the cereal/oatmeal. Adam was really bad constipated and I discontinued and went on with Avocado, Peaches etc. right away. It's funny how introducing solids in the different countries is so different. In Germany you start very early with meat since there are not too many allergic reactions that might come with it. Here, they say to feed veggies first so baby will actually prefer those to fruit.

Anyway, if you want to start with cereal just give him one tablespoon full and mix it with regular formula, make it real runny and try to feed him. If he pushes it out, he's not ready, if he swallows I guess he's ready. http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/solids-when.html
