About the bottles: Oh well. Here's what I did with the Playtex Bottles my MIL gave me. I handed them over to DH and also told him to go get his bbgun and he was busy shooting bottles all afternoon in the Backyard :star:

OMG! That's a great idea!! I'm getting MY BB gun out tomorrow and hubby and I will have a contest (we are heavily armed after living in the Bronx for 1 year  )

Chnst: Good news is that you can use your Avent system with the Medela bottles... They also fit in the Avent sterilizer (in case you have it). :)

I'm happy that you can walk again and don't have to take the nasty painkillers anymore!

Did anyone on VJ consider a homebirth??? 2 years ago I would have said that's crazy, but the more I learn about the obgyn system here, the more I tend to pay a midwife out of pocket and have a homebirth. The hospital isn't far in case I really need medical intervention. I'd love to hear if it worked out for some of you!

I do have the Avent sterilizer, I didn't try it out yet, but I'm so glad that they'll fit in there, I was worried!

Thanx!

I could never imagine having a home birth! Especially not with number 1... I don't know, just imagining all the mess... nah. Giving birth without an ICU next door- not my thing. I don't know how my grandma did it... kudos to you for considering this!

@Belwin: aww she is so tiny! so cute! Ben seems huge compared to her!

@autumnchick: don't give up, I hope things will get better! Ben doesn't latch on without the nipple shield either but my lactation lady said 'don't you worry'. most important is that he gets the milk. I'll try to wean him off he nipple shield when he gets a little bigger.

She has grown so much she left the hospital at 6ibs 3oz and now is almost 8 pounds. I will know what she official weighs on Wed. at her 1 month appointment. How big is Ben now? I went to work this week and all the teachers were like she is so tiny. I never had one so tiny. It is amazing she is still wearing new born clothes. We didn't get a lot of new born out fits so we are making do. I love the onesis. That is usually what she wears unless we go out which is so rare these days. Nursing is hard work so we stay home.

I am staying home more often I saw that my c-section scare is infected so hubby has to clean it every night with hproxide and neasporin it stinks. I so want to be active. I have lost 30 pounds and would like to loss 10 more before we leave for Jamaica. Guess it won't happen. Nice to wish.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments about Jaylyn. She is looking more and more like her dad everyday. I can't even see myself in her.

I hope you guys are kidding! There are battered womens shelters and homeless shelters (among many needy charities) that are in constant need of things like baby bottles..... :)

I agree...heck I will even take them! :P I understand the concern about BPA but to be honest I think it's expensive to get the special bottles, and many of us grew up on the bottles and seem fine right now. I am not trying to be annoying but I just can't see spending the money for certain special bottles. It's not practical for us.

When I stop nursing my mom is going to look for my nieces bottles and give them to me. My brother had the special ones and they never used them. My mom bought lots of those platex bags for them. I think it will be great not to give her tiny stomach gas and get those nasty hiccups. I am glad to know they will work with my medal breast pump. They will work great when I go back to work.

can anyone recommend a good baby sling/ wrap ? I've been using the baby Bjorn but he doesn't like it all that much and I don't like how he's "hanging" in there with his back.

About the bottles... sigh... u r right Sara and Stina, would be a shame to shoot them since most of them are unused.

I think I'm going to hang on to them for a while, I really like Avent but there are just soooo many things out there you have to worry about nowadays  and I agree that it is completely mental to go with every hype. I mean I grew up on good ol plastic, and i don't think I ever ate something organic until I was 25 years old. With all these studies about everything non-organic, being unhealthy I'm surprised how I've made it this far in live without serious health issues.

Belwin...Your lil girl is a peanut princess....I coudlnt even imagine my guy being soo small...How did i end up with such a whopper? lol...His one month checkup is the 29th, next week, and im guessing hes about 13lbs...(was born 9lbs, and was 10lbs a week after birth) hes such a chunker...eatin 4oz ever 3-4 hours...and sometimes i feel it may not be enuf!!

about the plastic bottles...I too bought avents, and then when that ####### was broadcasted everywhere, i switched to playtex drop ins....it may be a little more expensive buying the liners, but, seriously, their a dream come true...no bottle washing....just a little soap and hot water for the nipples and caps, and thats it, its great...

I'm not particularly organic, but I seriously dislike plastics... I did not grow up with it - we had glass bottles and natural latex nipples on them... It was hard to get the Western plastics as I was born in Eastern Germany... My toys were mostly wooden and fabric toys.

I'm not concerned about e.g. chlorine bleached diapers, I couldn't care less, but phtalates worry me... I've read the studies and discussed them with medical professionals and made my decision.

Everybody should decide what they think and feel is right for their children, but there should be respect for each other on both ends.

Your son is so cute 2!! She has her one month check up on the 28th also. I am betting she weighs 8 1/2 pounds now. Her face has gotten so big. She is still swimming in 0-3 month clothes. I measured her last night at it looks like she is 21 inches. She was 19 inches when we had her.

We only have the medla bottles for my breast pump. I can't imagine paying for liners and formula all the time. We have only spent 25 bucks on formula for the fist month and it is wonderful. This is why I stay positive to breast feeding. We will see what happens when I go back to work.

My brother and girlfriend broke up so now we are looking for a baby sister. The bummer about this is she was going to sit for practically nothing. :crying: We have budgeted 500 bucks for the month. Do you guys think that is enough?

@Chnst. I have a HOTSLING www.hotslings.com and Adam loved it. Some kids don't like it until they are about three months old. Also, I have a MeiTai www.bundlewithlove.com (click on MeiTai) and of couse he loved it again. Then there is a moby wrap which is about what Nannygirl linked and the most favorite carrier with moms that I know is the Ergo carrier. THose are pricey and for the beginning you'll need a baby insert but they are very durable and go all the way up to 30+ lbs http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/. I can still carry Adam in the MeiTai but my belly is too big. Every now and then he's in the sling but only for short periods since he is so heavy and hurts my shoulder. BAbygirl will be carried around in both carriers though.

Edit: Just saw that bundlewithlove.com is all new. Click on "Asian Carriers", that is the meiTai, they also offer slings and the 'moby'
