And when the cord stump does fall off, don't freak out if you see a little bit of blood. Adam had that for a couple of days but as long as the belly button isn't red or oozing or smells funny, it's all right. Just keep cleaning it with a little bit of rubbing alcohol (although I've heard that it is not recommended but I believe it helps dry it up faster).

I've been using a Q-tip to rub alcohol around the base of the stump at least twice a day, just as the doctor instructed. It's definitely NOT infected. His doctor says she gets concerned if the stump is there longer than 2 months. I know it's very unusual for it to be intact this long (5 weeks). But I won't worry unless it looks like it's getting infected. My theory is that my son is just trying to hold on to his "in utero" connection with me a bit longer...

Congratulations to your baby boy, autumnchick!!!

Thanks for all the replies to my post. I feel much better now, in the last three days, my belly must have grown quite a bit. We took some pictures yesterday and when I looked, I am definitley more showing and that tells me that that little dude inside there must be growing too.

It was funny though, hubby and me went maternity clothes shopping on sat and when we walked in the store, the girl working there asked, if we were shopping for someone else. That's how small I am still at 16 weeks in my normal clothing. When I wear maternity stuff, I look more preggo...LOL

That's funny Nane, same thing was happening to me up until about a week or so ago. All of a sudden my belly popped out. I might go buy a few things today after work cause I can barely fit any of my x-small shirts anymore and I have nothing to wear to work...

thanks for the replys ladies.....i figured out when i should ovulate etc so its all go!!! its weird, i feel really upset...i guess this confirms how much i want to be pregnant again

When we tried to get pregnant again, I started charting my temperature and used the MOM saliva fertility tester. http://www.maybemom.com/

That tester worked awesome and after 2 months, you have already got your money back compared to other OPKs...

and charting my temp was working really good too.

Oh yeah, I also used this site here for the charting.http://www.ovusoft.com/ourtcoyf/gallery/

If you download their software, you just put in your data every day and the software calculates the most fertile days,...worked like a charm for me, I got preggo during the first month.

Nane, I wanted to fit maternity clothes sooo bad when I was pregnant with Adam. I didn't show until about 26 weeks or so. It took forever. Now, with No2 at 27 weeks I'm huge (I think) but all belly. I still wear most of my regular clothes. I recommend to get a belly band, that way you can wear every day clothes with your buttons open and the belly band over it. That is what I do most of the time.

Here's me yesterday...please disregard my facial expression... http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x244/Ev...02/DSC04228.jpg

Eveline, that is such a cute picture!!!

I don't really mind so much that I am not really big yet. I just rather look pregnant than just fat..LOL

A friend of mine was showing at 9 weeks and at 16 weeks she got really big. She got so tired of it, so I am glad I can still wear mostly regular clothes. And yes, I got a belly band at that store on saturday and I like it a lot!!!

I'm so happy for you autumnchick!!! Happy Mother's Day...to everyone here. Personally, I felt so blessed today. It is a miracle to wake up each morning and see my child's perfect little angel face. I might just be the happiest Mommy in the world :luv:

chnst...I often feel as though my son is choking on my milk, too, there is so much at times (but only on one side, for me...) I really hope you find a solution to your problem. The only thing I can suggest is to let your breastmilk expel into a towel or burp rag during the "let down", and then continue with the nursing. This should ease the flow amount going into your baby's mouth.

Question to all: How long did it take for your baby to lose their umbilical cord stump? My son is 5 weeks old and it is still securely fastened to his belly button. Not cool.

it took kaila's about 2.5 weeks....at the hospital they showed/told me to put the rubbing alcohol in the cottong ball then squeeze it on top of the stump because that way it will get all around it and then i would go around the edges and did it every time i changed her diaper...

Haha, I'm lopsided everytime I have a contraction. She seems to stick her butt out one side and so my belly looks all funny.

Thanks so much for the breastfeeding tips and encouraging words! I didn't expect this to be so hard! But I toughened up and pulled the pump's plug and I've been just breastfeeding for the last 24 hrs. I'm just letting it run into a towel before / after a feeding and that helps. I didn't try the cabbage thing because we're at the in-laws right now, but I guess I'm going to trry that too.

Right now I'm using ice-packs in between.

Eveline, your belly looks so cute! I'm so exited for your baby girl! I can't believe they put you on weight control, you're all belly!!!!

Ben's cord stump fell off when he was 10 days old. His belly button is still bleeding a little but I'm keeping it clean with alcohol.

@Chrissy: sorry to hear that! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next month!

@autumnchik: can't wait to hear from you!

here are some pics of my little Boy, he's doing great and growing soooo fast already!

My boobs are KILLING me!!! I nurse him for about 40 minutes and it feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife- then pump for another 30 minutes, because I have so much milk. It's driving me crazy, because he's almost ready for the next round by the time I'm done pumping.

I hope it'll get better soon!

After my first week of nursing I felt better. I used lanioln soothing cream and soothies to help me out. You can get soothies online at the motherhood maternity shop.

I hope you feel better soon!

Very cute baby pics. :star:

Chnst: Hope your engorgement will subside soon. I'm glad you are sticking with it though. Good luck and I really think that the 'not pumping' will help you.
