Eveline,

I am sorry to hear that things may not work the way you want, but I wanted to throw another perspective out there. I didnt want the c-section I just had with my daughter and in some ways the recovery was actually worse than I would have imagined, but part of the problem was that I DIDNT imagine it and was not emotionally or mentally prepared in any way. I think you had that same experience with your son, right? so I have to beleive that at least knowing in advance what to expect will make it a little better. But I also wanted to tell you that I had a vaginal birth with my son 12 years ago and it was a nightmare too. There arent any guarantees that even if you could do the VBAC that it would be the experience you are imagining and hoping for. I was in labor for 55 hours. My sons head was clearly too big to fit out of me but I had a doctor who beleived in letting nature take its course and thought she was saving me from the awful recovery of a c-section. I was begging for one. On the 3rd day of my labor my son was pulled out with forceps. I had huge stitches. I couldnt stand or sit comfortably for weeks between the episiotomy and the muscle spasms in my back. I do not think for one minute, even in the comfort of hindsight, that I was done any favors by avoiding the c-section. I was so exhausted after I had my son I had the nurses take him to the nursery for several hours so I could pull myself together.

I dont like to talk about this story here because its not pretty and I dont want to scare anyone, but it obviously didnt deter me from having another baby. I just want to remind you that birthing is a tough business no matter how it plays out. there is a reason that childbirth is historically the number one reason for female mortality. I know 100% that I would have died with either of my children had I been giving birth to them 100 years ago, or for that matter NOW in a country that has less medical intervention available. So I guess I am trying to give you just a little pep talk :) you are going to get through this with both you and your little girl in fine health so be thankful for that ((hugs))

oh and P.S., I had my baby with me the entire time after my c-section, my hospital actually didnt have a nursery so she was there all along... Maybe its something you can discuss with your doc or hospital and find out what their policies are?

Eveline - I agree with the others ... can you get a second opinion?

Well, I am freaking out a bit because I think my water just broke (either that or I totally peed my pants). I am waiting for a call back from my doctor and am also finishing packing my bag. I am a bit freaked because I saw the doctor THIS MORNING and my cervix was still closed and all that. Did NOT expect this. Also, out of the whole month, my doctor is on vacation beginning tomorrow for the next few days!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Thank you for your posts ladies. I don't know if I could get a second opinion. I was just wondering that, if my uterine wall is already thinned out...when would the c/s be taking place? Two weeks from now? Four weeks from now??? Also, why can no US determine if a uterine wall is thinned out but the doc can, just from seeing my daughter move? I'm not buying it anymore. I got a bunch of information from my doula and am going to work through that. Still, at the same time, I'm going to be better prepared for a c/s this time. Whatever happens, happens.

My hospital didn't have a nursery either but I had to stay in a recovery room for four hours until I could move my legs again and then was finally taken to my room and got to see ADam. I'm a little scared she won't latch on after so many hours and a bottle of sugar water. We'll see. I guess I'm jumping to conclusions.

@Autumnchick: Holy cow....all the best. Hope it was your water breaking. Baby is ready to come and just like you tought...you are unprepared, haha. Good luck and a hopefully speedy delivery.

@Eveline: keep your head up girl, I'm sorry to hear those news, but I agree with what sara said- at least you'd be prepared for it now and that wouldn't make it as scary.

All that really matters is that you and her are healthy, maybe you could have somebody from your family in Germany come to the rescue for the first days after she is born?

My mom is a big help, I don't know what I'd done without her even with my hubby being on vacation for 2 weeks. Think positive! I hope you get another opinion about the thin uterus.

@autumnchik: good luck!! keep us posted!

I'm doing a lot better. I will write down every question that comes to my mind within the next 2 weeks and then ask my OB and see if maybe he's going to make a deal with me. I will be willing to agree to c/s from my due date on if there is no sign of labor and until then I'll be willing to come in whenever he needs me to come in for NSTs etc. I will also bring my husband to appointments and have him talk to the doctor.

We'll see. I'm more optimistic now than I was earlier today. Thank you for the kind words.

autumnchik-I hope this is it for you! :)

Sara-I really liked your post. As I think about future children, I sometimes(only sometimes) wonder if I should risk trying for a vbac since my c-section wasn't due to size but failure to progress. But my back labor was horrible in my opinion and too long and it's true that even if I had a vbac doesn't mean it'd be easy or what I expected. I am more leaning towards just scheduling a future c-section if I am having another baby(in the future of course, not soon!). That way I can be way more prepared and read a lot about helping the recovery process. And I can actually rest ahead of time instead of going through labor, not sleeping for 2 nights, and then still needing a c-section and being very exhausted. I know this is all stuff for the future but I can't help thinking about it sometimes. I definitely feel more positive about just having another c-section.

Eveline-I am sorry your Dr gave you news that is hard. I hope you can have your vbac like you want, but don't put too much pressure on yourself or you will be majorly disappointed again if you just need to have the c-section. I am glad to hear you are getting more optimistic.

Yeah, haven't heard from autumnchick in a while. I guess she's busy bonding with her baby.

About C/S: I respect every moms decision who doesn't want to go through labor pain again and rather chooses a repeat c/s. Like I said before...I'm glad we have that choice nowadays. As for my part - and I'm sure you all know my point by now - I don't want to choose major abdominal surgery over vaginal birth. ADam was a big baby and I know that the chances of babygirl being a 8#er are rather high but honestly, I rather go through that pain and maybe - hopefully not - some tearing than waiting in the recovery room for hours, staring at the clock and wondering how she is doing. I think, my rejection towards a c/s has A LOT to do with the bad experience in the hospital with Adam. Nobody treated me bad (except for the surgeon who was a butthole) but it was just so impersonal...jeeeez, I'm just jabbering away...I'm not complaining, no no, don't get me wrong. I better shut up about it. It's enough that my DH is rolling his eyes everytime he hears VBAC...don't want you to think that I'm the crazy lady who hates doctors, cause that is not the case at all. :star:

I was thinking about you earlier today. If you don't get a 'visit' on the 11th, I would definetely test then again. Your body might already make enough hormones for the test to show it. I hope for you that you are pregnant again.

No, I didn't have it in either pregnancy. with Adam I had some slight bleeding at around 6 and 7 weeks because I went running with our dog the day before. You said there was a line or no?

Oh ok, I see. Hmm, aren't some of the epts accurate two days before your missed period? The thing is, most of those tests show a 'positive' result as soon as your hcg Level are about 25mIU/ml. A level of 5mIU/ml is considered negative. This hormone is only produced in pregnancy and your levels should double every 24hrs. So if you test tonight (I'm only assuming cause I know you want to hehe) and you do see a little line then chances are..you are pregnant. I can understand that you want to wait just to avoid the disappointment. If you can, wait those three days.
