Don't give up nanny. You gave birth only a few days back. Did your milk even come in yet? Did you talk to a lactation consultant? Not all babies are born nursers, they need to practise to. I hope you will still try. All the best.

I'm so sorry. I remember my milk came in after four days but I was leaking badly since my fifth pregnancy month so I knew I had at least colostrum to offer Adam. I can see where it is frustrating in your situation. did they try nipple shields or anything? I don't mean to pressure you or anything, just my thoughts and maybe some - unwanted, hehe - good advice.

Yassmine I fear that I will kiss the screen any second when I see your son. He is super adorable!

Awww, thanks :) He's pretty irresistable. Hubster kisses him more than me

Yassmine: he does look older than 2 months!!! but he has such a cute smile! awwww!!

Can you believe he weighs 16 pounds and is 23 inches long? That's as of this last Friday. No wonder my back is aching! He blows people away when I tell them how young he is. Especially all his little old lady admirers at the grocery store :)

Hey everyone....i was left out today....child birth is no joke....omg....it really is a intersting experince....no matter how much you read or watch about it....doesn't do it justice!!!

What a doll! Looks like she's got some pinchable cheeks too :)

Bless your heart. I know just how frustrating and heart-wrenching that can be. Mehdi came out ready for steak and taters and all I had was a few drops of colostrum. Needless to say he was very hungry and very mad, and there were alot of tears on both sides.

Im sure you've already gotten alot of help from the nurses and lactation consultant, but might I suggest something? If you have colostrum and are still waiting for your milk to come in. Try giving your little one an ounce or so from the bottle to help take the edge off and then offer the breast. Hungry babies have no patience. I had to use this technique in the hospital and still do now. When Mehdi is hungry and really worked up, he just wont take the breast. I give him a couple of ounces of formula and it calms him enough to take the time and effort to nurse. You might also try to pump for awhile to help your milk supply in the meantime.

I feel for you honey, I know its dissapointing. But dont give up completely, you may find yet that you can nurse after all, it just takes time. While you're bottle feeding, I reccomend the Playtex Drop-Ins Nursers. The liners are great because theres less stuff to wash and they cut down on gas. The nipples are large and soft and make it easier to go from breast to bottle if you eventually transition. At least, my son does the switch quite well. He hates traditional nipples.

Best of luck for success hon!

Yassmine I love the picture of you two how cute!!!

Shauna hang in there with the breast feeding. Switching back and forth is a very good idea. I am so worried I won't be able to handle it cause I am so sensitive towards pain. My mom is coming over the first week to help me with the feedings. She breast feed all of us so hopefully she still remembers since she had my bro 23 years ago. Do you have any friends of family members who could help you with breastfeeding. I am so proud of you for trying because I will honestly probably be like you and get so frustrated.

Yassmine-His cheeks are so cute! Wow 16 lbs hehe! I think Kavi is a little over 23 inches long now but he might only weigh about 12 lbs(He weighed 6lbs 2oz at birth). I don't know for sure, his last appt was almost a month ago and he was 10lbs 7oz then so I assume he has gained about 1.5-2 lbs since then.

thanks everyone...i think she is a cutie as well!! :star:

I had the same problem, I know how frustrating and tiring it becomes. I felt guilty on and off for awhile. I pumped but not enough to feed just breastmilk and getting the time to pump was sometimes really hard especially while healing from my c-section. I eventually pumped less and less and then stopped about 4 weeks ago. But I still had some milk and now at almost 3 months, I tried latching him and he actually could do it easily. But he really could not do it at birth or the first few weeks(I'd try every few days). Now I am trying to breastfeed just once a day b/c at least he might get something but still he has almost a full bottle after so I know I have very little milk left.(and to be honest I don't plan on building the supply back up) I was just happy to know that finally he could latch, just too late! If you feel like giving up don't feel guilty one bit. The pressure was something more than I realized it would be and it was a lot harder than I thought. You went through a lot with the c-section and just don't feel too bad about it or like a failure or anything.

Tracy, how is life with your little baby boy?

I'm back from my 24wk checkup and my bloodpressure was better, my urine was good, my weight BAAAAAAAD. I have gained 20lbs so far, a little too much when you ask me and my doc agrees. He put me on weight control and I have to come in for a weigh in in two weeks. Oh no. With Adam I gained 50lbs all together and all the time during nursing I didn't have to worry, I ate whatever and even lost weight.
