@Belwin: tell her that the hospital policy only allows one person in the delivery room and that is your husband!

My mom wanted to go but I told her she's more than welcome to sit in the waiting area and hubby will keep her updated.

She accepted that without complaining.

Ladies thanks for the good advice. Chnst I will tell her this and hopefully she will be fine with it.

@ Belwin - See, I have the OPPOSITE problem. I would like my mom to be there with me, but she does not feel comfortable doing so, says that in her generation, moms did not go into the delivery room with their kids. Part of the difficulty is also that she may be in Florida with her husband when I go into labor (she lives part time there). She has told me that she would rather stay in CT or even come up to NH so that she will be around (although not IN the room), but her husband can be needy and demanding and does not see why she needs to be here ahead of time.

BTW, nice job on telling your mom what YOU want, after all, it really should be your choice :)

Oh yeah and she is begging to be in the delivery room and I have said no. Do any of you ladies have a problem with your mom wanting to be there? I just really want it to be me and my husband. I think she understands but then she calls and starts asking again plus she was there for my nieces birth.

For our first my MIL was there during labor, but then when it was time to start pushing, my wife barked at her mom to get the hell out. She did, then poked her head in a few minutes later and then received a lashing ala "Knocked Up". I had my mom take her to the waiting area; 30 minutes later Michael was here. :)

Oh congrats soon come yeah  !!

I have gained 30 pounds too. So its the normal weight gain.

I will see if I am dialiting on Wednesday. Without working today I am feeling so much better. Hubby and I are going to clean tomorrow. Mom and dad will be staying with us the first week she arrives to help out. Which is nice. So she will have tons of time to hold her.

Thanks for all the wonderful stories everyone. I enjoy everyones perspective. Mom is just worried I can't handle the pain. I am so wimpy when it comes to pain but I really want to do this on my own with hubby. I will just have her wait in the waiting room and if I need her someone will go get her. I think that is the best plan.

KS and Belwin (and Chnst): good luck for the days and - possibly - weeks to come. I can totally relate to your anticipation. I remember going to my 41 week checkup and they told me that I was going to get induced that night. I was happy (because things were finally moving along) and excited, had to call my parents, what about our dog etc...and I cuoldn't wait to finally meet my baby boy.

I'm sending all of you some labor dust but please, if you don't need it all...keep it and send it back to me when I'm 'there':lol:

I got that from EVERYONE. And I only gained 12 pounds with Mehdi. It was alllll baby, but no one believed me when Id say I was only 6 months along with a single baby. 'Course he's still messing with people's minds now that he's out. He's only 2 months old and weighs over 16 pounds.

I think sometimes people just don't know what else to say. I have caught myself saying it to friends, even though I hated that comment. I gained a lot with Adam (50lbs) but you couldn't really tell (I think), still I got the "Oh wow, you're about to pop" three months before Adam was actually born. Anyway, I don't care. People can say all they want.

I have been craving ice cream like crazy. It is not normal. I'm dreading to step on that scale on wednesday. I think I have gained 20lbs so far and it doesn't look to good for me not to achieve those magic 50lbs again. I'm not too worried about getting rid of the weight after cause I know it will come off.

Chnst: Good luck at the doctors. Let us know how it goes and I'm sure they'll let you go another two weeks if not even longer. I can totally relate tough, anticipation was eating me up those days. Every time he moved I hoped my water would break and every time I woke up with a terrible painful braxton hicks contraction I was hoping for more to come but...nada. You know the story  same old, same old.

@Nannygirl: Congratulations again on your little baby girl. She is adorable and look at all that hair. Hope you feel better and have a great time with her. I don't think any women can ever be prepared for childbirth no matter how much you think you have read, learned how to breath, relax etc...
