Excuse me for not understanding this jargon, but how should one answer question 9 in the 230 form properly? My fiancee was married once and is now divorced and currently single( duhhh!) Question 9. checked Divorced..that part I know. second part: Including my present marriage I have been married____times? It sounds like a trick question to me. I told her put once. but want to be sure. Logical thinking doesn't always hold true with the governement. Help please. thanks

Nope, you're right on--she'll answer with "1" if she has one previous marriage and is currently unmarried.

I think the DS 230 is used for several different kinds of immigrant visas, so another applicant might very well be married at the time of the visa application.

She should put "1" based on the fact that you provided. It means total number of marriage(s) as of now of the appicant.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Yes, I put "1" for that too (I was married once before).

Good luck on your future journey :D
