Here are the two latest additions, both settling in nicely!

Although we think that Chip may have to start auditioning for the Village People any day now.

The white kitty in this pic makes me sad because he looks like my cat Boris who got lost when we moved last year :( The kids still tell me they miss him and it took a long time for his twin sister (who doesn't look anything like him now but did look just like him when they were born) to get over his loss :(

how did you lose a cat moving? did you pack him in a box that hasn't been opened?

Yes, the problem was that he used to like to go out and stay gone for days at a time (I have NO idea what he was doing out there since he is nuetered and declawed!) but we couldn't keep him in the house for anything. He even got his tail caught in the door before while making a mad dash out of the house (and sustained a pretty serious injury).... anyway, we kept coming back and looking for him after we moved but he was the type that just came and went on his own schedule and I'm assuming that he came back home to find us gone and took off again. We have a friend who still lives in that apartment complex and she even stayed on the lookout for a long time too but none of us ever saw him again. :( He was the MOST lovable cat in the world too.... in an aggressive way LOL.... when you sat down he would climb up on your lap, stand on your chest and force you to pet his face by headbutting you continously until you gave in  I hope someone found him and gave him a good home :(

I think he kept running out rather than being intentionally let out.

We found out that Chip was front toed de-clawed once we had gotten him home. I can honestly say it breaks my heart, it truly does, I just don't understand it, I really don't. I feel so sorry for him, poor kitty. :(

the thins is, my neighbour who is crazy about cats and also think she knows everything about cats, managed to scare the ...out of me, because she told me all cats die of cancer...i know its not true, but it drives me crazy now and im scared to go to the vet with him . what if he tell me something that i dont want to hear?? :crying::crying::crying::help:

i had blood work and all the other tests done on sam november 2006 and he was healthy as a pig:)

I know, it is scary finding lumps on our pets. So, first of all, all cats do NOT die of cancer. . . in the more than 50 years of my life living in multiple cat households we only had one cat develop cancer - in her jaw - and she was feline leukaemia positive (before they had a vaccine or anything) plus 13 years old. So, while there is a possibility - as there are with all lumps - there could be other reasons as well.

Some of the things to consider . . . does you cat receive regular vaccinations? The rabies vaccine goes in the right hind leg as far down the leg as possible. Sometimes a carcinoma develops at the injection site from vaccines that use an adjuvant as a preservative. Your vet will know what this looks like and will be able to tell you if it is or if it isn't. It is unlikely that such a sarcoma would also develop on the tail. Other things that can happen is if the cat gets hit by something it can develop a lump or a bump at the site of the injury. Is your cat an indoor/outdoor cat? If he got into a fight with another cat he could have been bitten on the leg and developed an infection that has granulated under the skin. You mention the leg one is an older one and the tail one is new. It could be that he got bit on the tail, or got the tail caught in something and injured it. The vet will be able to decide what it is and if he might need antibiotics. Cats also sometimes develop little fat pockets called lipomas - they are benign lumps and nothing to worry about - and often develop on cats that have a relatively easy life with lots of food. I noticed two little lumps in the hip area of one of my cats and mentioned it to the vet - they turned out to be lipomas and nothing to worry about.

You also mentioned he had a full check up in November . . . your vet probably would have checked him over before he gave him his vaccinations for any type of a lump that would indicate the injection type of carcinoma. He would give the rabies shot in the same place each year so if your cat has had this lump for 6 months the vet probably would have noticed it if it were serious.

So, you do need to go to the vet. Hopefully, it is nothing to be concerned about, however if it is something of concern, the earlier you diagnosis it, the better the prognosis is. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Actually, if there is a disease that the majority of cats die from it is kidney failure, not cancer. I can't better Kathryn's advice here, so won't even try. The only thing I will say is that you do need to take kitty to a vet - only they can diagnose this first hand.

Good luck. :luv:
