HELLO ALL,

i have a question.................my mother just arrived in united states last month and currently we are waiting for the GREEN CARD...............we have some emergency and now she have to return back to her country by next month.............

Does anybody have any idea usually how long it will take before she will get the GREEN CARD?

What form do we have to fill up to make the extension on the GREEN CARD so she can come and visit and stay after more than a year.....................WHICH FORM TO FILE FOR EXTENSION IN GREEN CARD?

as far as my understanding ......................she needs to come every year just to maintain the GREEN CARD................but we want to do the extension so she can come after more than a year...........and still maintain the GREEN CARD............

any help will be appreciated.............

thank you

The GC isn't a permanent visitor visa. She'll have to demonstrate that she actually resides in the US to maintain it. The document that GC holders who will be outside the US for more than a year need is a re-entry permit. But be aware that actually living back home and coming to the US every so often to visit is not gonna fly for long. They'll have arrival and departure records and will catch on to the fact that she doesn't really reside here - which is a misuse of the GC and can lead to it's revocation - eventually.
