What is with people and numbers today? I started printing out call logs from June and I refuse to add them up. That's would be self abusive. Why would I do something like that?

Self abusive... . You're right. The service I use automatically gives you the total at the end of the log, or I wouldn't have wanted to know that info. I was actually thinking of other things I could have used that money on.

I am actually leaving on Friday to go to Nigeria for my traditional "engagement" ( ). Sucks though because I'm leaving Nigeria on the 8th of January - two days before his interview. So I won't be around, but I'm going to prep him until he's tired of talking about visas...

On my gosh! Change your flight girl! Stay for the interview and bring your man home with you! I really do think that being there for the interview helps. Anyway....ENJOY your ceremony/party with family and friends. Have a great time! We'll be here on VJ keeping our fingers crossed. Don't forget, we want pictures!

Packet 3 is usually the forms that they ask you to complete and the instructions for the medical appointment then Packet 4 would be the interview date once you confirm that you've completed all the forms. But many embassies seem to have combined the steps and just give you all the instructions forms and interview date all at once.

My hubby isn't from Africa, but this is such a good thread because I am getting my stuff together now.

My hubby has it easy come interview time because A. I am an only child, so no brothers and sisters to remember, and B. I have no children to remember either. :P

And yes, make sure he knows your date of birth, and if you are getting married in his country, that you know his!! When we went to the embassy in Kathmandu to get the affidavit that certifies that I was single, I actually had a mini-interview which I was completely unprepared for since I wasn't expecting it. The CO looked at my then-fiance and said 'OK, I only want her to answer this' and then asked me his date of birth. The day was no problem since we had just celebrated his birthday, but I forgot the year!!!! I knew how old he was of course but could not think of the year -D'oh!!! It turned out to be no problem, but I am worried now that the embassy has a file on us with a note that I flubbed it up...

I am also going to use the colored tabs since they were recommended to me by another successful VJer. I am hoping that I will be there for my hubby's interview but at any rate I am going to put everything in a file folder with different color coded sections and the stuff that he absolutely needs to show kept in the front- this was recommended to me by another VJer whose fiance is flying toward her at this very moment!!!

In some consulates/embassies, you need to return the checklist and DS 230 part I before get the interview date. You already have your interview date so you do not need to return anything to the embassy.

When your fiance goes to the intervie make sure he takes whatever forms are mentioned on the checklist (DS 230, DS 156, DS 156K and in some cases DS 157).
