Hello and thank you for your previous answers.

I have seen people call their senators or representatives.

My husband moved to New Mexico last July and was living in ALaska before that.

He contacted his senator in Alaska and two senators in New Mexico.

He's been told by the ALaskan one that sine he doesn't live there anymore it's not his problem in other words.

He's been told by the New Mexico ones that since he didn't vote last elections because he was living in Alaska that they can't help him with this.

Hello... is anyone going to help at all? I don't know what else to do and who else to call...

Thank you for your advice.

Christine.

He has a few more days before six months. Nevertheless that doesn't answer my question. I asked what kind of help the OP was looking for. What does he want a Senator to do? If he calls next week, they aren't going to tell him his I-130 hasn't been six months yet, so he'll get something more to work with, even if of little or no value. A Senator can make an inquiry but if the answer is "We're still in name check or other investigative process." that will be the end of what a Senator can do. He may be told that directly when he calls next week.

I suspect what's going on is that his I-129F is now joined to his I-130 at the same service center and they'll just say his six months starts from the I-129F NOA1. It's hard to argue with that because he's on the K3 path, making the I-130 moot until the I-129F is approved.

All senators and maybe reps have an immigration staffer. If you have a real issue, the staffer will make an inquiry or even request expedited service under the senator's name...BUT they'll also tell you honestly that it's VERY doubtful anything will happen faster. But the more people who call their senators and reps, the more pressure is placed on USCIS and the visibility of this absurd slowdown will be greater.

pushbrk, I think that he wanted to do something that I was doing.. he got the idea (like me) that USCIS would actually approve our applications within the 6 month timeframe.. oh man, I actually believed that for a few months.. seems like USCIS should have given a later deadline and not try to get everyones' hopes up... if you say 6 months, please get it done within that time.. they should have just said 1 year to save themselves some trouble (on phone calls as well as stress)..

Which would you rather have :

1) someone says 6 months to complete, but complete in 1 year (or 2 years)?

or

2) someone says 1 year to complete, but actually complete in 6 months.. (much better reputation)

What I would want or what you think somebody else wants has little to do with my question.

However, what you were told was the standard the agency is trying to work within. In the vast majority of cases, they work well within that standard even now with the current backlog. It is impossible to reliably predict which cases will take longer than the standard or why.

I'm sorry yours was and it looks like the OP's might become one of those cases that takes longer for one reason or another but I think I'll wait for a direct answer to my question from the person to whom the question was asked, if you don't mind. Ok?
