I'm watching MTV True Life & this one is about arranged marriages....

there are three couples..one of them is an Indian guy who lives in Jersey () and his parents in India arranged his marriage with a local girl. He flew over and married her. As an aside, I gotta say I love how colorful all the fabrics and everything are! But what I found curious is that he 'had an appt' at the registrar's office to apply for a visa for his bride. They left the wedding (him in a bit of a huff btw) and got to the registrar's office on time....he filled out an application, and then said 'I've now done everything I could do to get the visa for her...now it's in the hands of the US consulate...'

huh?

Sounds like terminological confusion related to DCF.

Ok, well the visa was apparently approved cos she just flew home with him

That's quite common.

1. Legal marriage in India

2. Groom flies home

3. Petition sent in

4. Visa approved

5. Groom flies to India

6. Religious marriage with the whole world watching... de facto "marriage" in the eyes of the community

7. Fly home right after

Is he a citizen or permanent resident, or someone on an H1B who just added his wife as an H4?
