OK, I'm using a lawyer because I started this process before I knew about this wonderful site. OMG what a mistake I made.

Here's the prob. I've received NOA1 and NOA2 for my wife. In fact NVC has forwarded their approval to the USEm in Moscow. Unbelievably, now my lawyer emails me and wants documents for my wife's daughter. Stupid me just assumed the mother/daughter paperwork went together! Do you get a separate NOA for the child of your spouse? I submitted (to this idiot) all the required documents for my wife and step-daughter 10 MONTHS AGO. The lawyer claims USCIS "lost the documentation for the daughter". How much of a monkey wrench is this going to throw in the works? Do you think USCIS "lost it" or the lawyer forgot to file it.

One other question: Now the lawyer wants a translated version of my step-daughter's birth certificate. 10 months ago I only supplied the original (in Russian). All other documents, divorce decree, death certificate, marriage certificate I submitted in English and a certified Russian translation - because that's what her instructions said! Does my step-daughter's birth certificate need to be translated into English?

Thank-you for your replies and thanks for letting me vent!

BTW, anyone reading this and considering using a lawyer/agency.... you've been duly warned.
