We moved...finally! The new house is awesome and we've managed to get semi ready for the holidays. Two weeks....TWO FREAKING WEEKS!...to get landline service. They lost our first order (the doofus never filed it) and when I called to find out what was up with our promised landline I find out we have to place another order. By this time we've been down for a week. With a child who has a heart condition and epilepsy, this is not a good thing. I told them this. They promised to expedite our order. Um...yeah. We finally got it today, after initially placing the order on November 27, 2007. AUGH!!!!! Yes, we do have cell phones, but you know emergency services won't find you quickly enough with just cell service, not to mention a new house in a relatively new subdivision. So anyway, rant off. I've already started composing letters to as many higher ups in this company as I can find. My other rant is, this is the ONLY phone company in our area. We have no choice...they know this. Hence the crappy service they have given us lately. *sigh*

So anyway....I'm back! Missed being around...missed you guys! :D

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about your fiasco with the phone company. You better get them on their knees for you! Is the house still full of boxes or are you mostly unpacked?

We missed having you around, too!

Welcome back, Karen! I sure can relate to the phone "service" fiasco. When we ordered it for our new home it was hooked up wrong.... there was a dial tone but I couldn't call out. If anyone called in, they would hear it ring, but I would hear nothing. Embarq kept insisting it was hooked up properly. We kept insisting it was not. Offshore helpdesk.... don't get me started. I had no cell phone at the time. My husband had to work and I had to co-ordinate two sets of movers (one from our apartment, the other coming from Canada) and sundry services.... all in the week before Christmas (last year). I was not a happy camper, let me tell you.

Glad to hear you're all settled in and happy. Congratulations!

Glad its all coming together!!! Last Thursday my internet and phone went offline! Phoned Cox and tried to trouble shoot it, no luck!! Soonest they could get me a technician to come to my house was Tuesday!! Luckily Imanaged to fix it myself!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
