Why do some people have interviews and others don't?

I am just wondering why some people have to have an AOS interview while others don't? We got our EAD approved in about 2.5 months and our AOS in about 4 months, but there was no interview. I wanted to make sure that we didn't miss something. I guess we have Rich's greencard, so I shouldn't worry...just curious!

Some cases are easy enough that the people at USCIS don't think an interview is necessary.

We had to submit proof of relationship when we first filed our K-1. All of that was transfered with our case. That is what the interviewer in London (for the K-1) told us. So we actually did submit a TON of evidence. I lived over there while studying abroad and after. We even had a lease together. I dont' know if that is why we didn't have an interview, but that's what I was wondering.

Maybe you didn't submit a LOT of evidence, but we did. I believe that's part of the reason it went so fast. And although it was a year old by the time it was approved, that doesn't matter. That means one more year of being together. It doesn't matter. It was a just a question

Its really just speculation that evidence from your K1 process affected your AOS process. What Caladan stated is there is no requirement when applying for AOS (aside from marriage certificate) to submit bonafide evidence of relationship. That is generally done at the interview.

And I don't want people to think that they didn't get transferred because USCIS is suspicious of them. If you look at the thread on who is transferred, there aren't a lot of clear patterns, by income, method of meeting, national origin, nada.
