When I started working here I used to cook that green bean casserole with campbell soup, onions, etc, but in order not to get tired of it, every week I'd substitute the green beans for another veggie I like such as spinach or brocoli. It would be enough for 4 days, and sometimes I'd open a can of tuna and mix with it. I love tuna

I'm trying to plan out my meals for next week so I can chop and prep everything on Sunday that way I don't have to worry about it when I get off work. Any suggestions for yummy and hopefully quick meals?

are you going to cook right before and eat at home? I also had this time where I'd buy fish fillets and vary, like salmon, cajun, garlic herb, lemmon pepper, precooked and have them with champignon, asparagus.

Just an observation...especially around New Years with resolutions: I've noticed a lot of emphasis on fitness boot camps - a hardcore approach to shaping up. These programs usually involve doing exercises in a group, which I find uninspiring. I know my limits and I know how far to push myself. If some people do better with being motivated by outside forces, that's great, but for me, I've found the most success from self discipline because it is the lifestyle choices that I've made that got me in the shape I'm in, for better or worse. I'm in my zone when I am at a gym working out at my pace and at my own level, focused and undistracted by the other people working out around me. A lot of times, I'll close my eyes during my rest periods to focus on my breathing and to visualize my workout, which really helps me to stay motivated.

I've been using the caloriecount.com website since the start of November - and I've lost twenty pounds! Without even feeling starved... I never knew my body was capable of actually losing weight in a healthy manner! It took three years to gain the weight on the typical American diet, and less than three months to take it off again...

Look at this!

That's great! And I'm sorry about all the crappy food here...it's everywhere, quick and cheap.

I love fresh veggies, chicken, white fish, I love wild rice, couscous, orzo. I have this cookbook called Good For You I think it's by Betty Crocker or Pillsbury and it has lots of low cal recipes that are really quick. The one I'm trying tonight I forget the exact measurements but with cooking it's not that important.

Beef & Cabbage Wraps

3/4lb beef (with little or no fat) sliced in thin strips

1 onion sliced thin

4 cups shredded coleslaw mix (you know the stuff you buy in the bag in the produce section)

1/3 cup BBQ sauce (whatever you like best)

6-8 flour tortillas

Cook the beef & onion in a nonstick pan until beef is cooked through

Add in the coleslaw mix & bbq sauce

Place lid on pan and cook on medium for 5-8 minutes or until cabbage is tender

Put 1/3 cup of mixture into a tortilla and eat

Personally I think I will put the wrap on my george foreman grill for a few mins after it's filled so it gets a little crunchy

I forget the calories but I think it was 250 or 275 calories for 2 wraps

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I love, love, love cabbage. Sounds delicious...would even be tastier with some bacon.

there are a few websites where you can put the amount of calories you ate and exercise, etc, plan an x amount of calories to eat daily and you can control your calorie intake. It takes some effort, I did that last year when I wanted to lose the year before winter fat and I succeeded. It's like a journal.

Nobody MADE me eat it... I was just lazy and it was easier to go along with what DH wanted and to eat lots of fast food etc. Then I realised that I didn't even LIKE it so why was I doing that to myself?! So I started eating better, but I still didn't really lose any weight until I put a concerted effort into it. I eat a thousand times better now - cereal with fiber for brekky, not so much bread/starch, and lots and lots of vegetables and fruit. And most importantly, low salt! The only sad thing is that the only reason I started dieting was to try and encourage DH to do the same... and he's not really motivated enough, so he's not getting anywhere!

I had a really yummy lunch...I put some grilled chicken, lettuce, half slice of bacon into 2 small corn tortillas. it was yummy but it would have been better if I had flour tortillas at home. plus I would have only had one if I had flour ones. the corn tortillas as so small

I forgot to add that I love those south beach diet wraps. they even come with sugar free jello which I love. anyone else like them?
