I always park at the back of the lot and it drives my sister nuts! Also I always try to take the stairs and I park at work and walk across the road to the grocery store if I need anything for the day. When I first moved to London I actually lost 60lbs in 3 months from walking around and well I had no money so I didn't eat much more than oranges and yogurt and whatever we had for lunch at work. Not a very healthy way to lose weight but I've kept it off! We always eat quite late at our house usually 9-11pm. It drives my grandfather nuts when we have get togethers because we plan them at like 7 or 8pm for dinner and he can't eat that late (or so he says) because of his diabetes. He ends up having 10th meal by the time it's time for dinner. I think my dad is going to buy me a new exercise bike tomorrow. Sears has all their exercise equipment on sale until Dec 28!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I never use drive-thru mostly because I don't trust people to get my order right. Well, I hardly ever go to a junkie food place that has drive-thru anyway. And here is no different than Brazil, most places have drive-thru. I used to rent movies and when I was going to return I always used drive-thru, no patience for parking, go inside, stay in line, etc. But that was it. When I go pick up meds at CVS I go inside and I wait 10 min for them to get it ready and while doing that I walk around the store looking at things, instead of calling them first and having it ready and using the drive-thru to pick it up.

Oh and I always park far away unless it's raining or snowing.

i live in nyc and walk everywhere...even when i take the train to go to work or out, i still have to walk to and from the station, and up and down all those stairs...its a good thing, but my body is so used to it (ive been doing it all my life), that walking has absolutely no effect on me...i do all this walking and am still fat

today in the office, there are dunkin donuts and godiva chocolates on display for everyone's enjoyment

why do they always have to put them by MY desk?!!

ive resisted so far, but its only 10:15...if i make it through the day without eating any, i will be so proud

I don't have candies in my office. I had toblerone when it was Halloween, but it didn't last long. I know if I have candies I will eat them. The other building I used to work many people had candies. I just ignored them, mostly because it's at other people's desk and I was ashamed to get them :P .

Why don't you ask your boss to put someplace else? Tell him you're diabetic and you love candies and it's bad for your health to have them at your desk.

yea, i never bring them in, but other people always bring them in as 'treats' for the group...theyre not really helping anyone though...i sit at the front desk, so i guess thats why they put it here, but why cant they alternate desks?! im going to look into this further

I would definitely use the diabetic excuse. Would work like a charm.

What are some good tasting (that's important), healthy snacks for the office?

I was buying a small bag of raw pistachios for awhile but that got redundant fast. I was eating roasted sunflower seeds, but somebody told me that roasted nuts and seeds are not really healthy for you (they compared them to eating chips).

I can tolerate pretzels for a little bit. I like dark chocolate but if I eat too much, I get heartburn.

I've got a big container of instant fiber (Costco brand of Metamucil) at my desk...it give the full feeling but also not the most satisfying snack when I hungry late in the afternoon.

Any suggestions, including how to vary it up?

Do you like fruit? If so, a bag with grapes in it is also easy. An apple. If you have somewhere to keep it cool, some yogurt. Granola bars-they have reduced sugar and low cal granola bars that taste fine to me.

- Fruits, any fruit except the fat ones like avocado, mango, etc (fresh fruit not the canned stuff cuz they're packed with the bad stuff like sugar)

- cereal bars, lots of options low fat, low sugar

- yogurt, cottage, also lots of options low fat

- baby carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes,

- nuts, raw not roasted, unsalted

- tuna or salmon in cans, in water not oil

I just had one of those campbells soup at hand things for my lunch and I was like woohoo 80 calories and then I was like ####### 980mg sodium!!!!!!!!!

hahah I always read the labels because you never know, low cal doesn't always equal healthy. And 80 calories is probably not the entire can, is it? Isn't it the serving?
