I should have clarified... I need a recipe for a cooking idiot like me, with specific measurements and directions!

Your recipe looks great, but knowing me, I'd mess it up :P

OK, so I figured I am going to borrow your marinade and use it for the baby lamb chops I ordered and saved for a holiday occasion.... which this is a good one I think. I'm not sure what else I'll make for the Eid for Ammar. Any other ideas?

Why don't you just ask him what his mom normally makes? Or better yet call her and ask her so you can suprise him! I bet he's used to eating the same thing each year.

My husband can rattle off to the T exactly what his sisters make each Eid. He's so cute like a lil kid he's like, "first we have the soup, it is made from the chicken, veddy veddy good for the body............etc. etc.

I get the name of the entree...a description of what is in it and how it benefits him physically. roflmaoooo. The kids are gonna get a kick out of him at mealtime! :P

Awww :) That's cute!

I'll ask him what he remembers. Not calling his mom--she didn't speak English and she's dead, so that kind of makes that impossible. Anyway, I don't know how much he remembers her cooking. he's the youngest of 11 (13 total but 2 died) and she was nearly 50 when he was born-- I think by then older sisters had taken over most of things.

Oh I'm sorry! yeah my husband's mom died when he was younger as well. He has two younger sisters but the older of the two took on the cooking responsibility at an early age and has basically been the head of the house in terms of being in charge of cooking, laundry, etc. since that time. She does the cooking for Eid and their younger sister helps her out as well. Whenever my husband is in a fight with her she says she hopes I can't cook! lol

I guess I'd just try to make his favorite foods then. Things he compliments you on the most. :)

i asked my husband and he doesn't want to bother doing anything with eid...*sigh*

Is he homesick maybe? Maybe you could suprise him by taking him to a Moroccan restaurant or something to remind him of home? Is there a mosque that he likes near you? There might be some festivities going on there that he can participate in and that would get him in the mood.

I'm not doing a thing myself having said that though. I'm just not into it at all. I don't go to a mosque anymore since I just don't have the time and my house is 100% decorated for Christmas so to be honest I haven't even really thought about it. I guess I should visit my islamic boards more often in the next couple of days to get in the mood. Last year I was in Egypt for Eid and it basically coincided with Christmas and New Years and my wedding day. :(

Oh shoot, Eid is in 2 days, right? On Wed? I forgot!

Depends Sarah, are you are going by Saudi Arabia or Morocco? Morocco is celebrating on Friday the 21st. Simo is there now, running around all day looking for a sheep.

btw...sheeps are running about 2000-2500dhs for a medium small sized one.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Eid!
