NO INTERVIEW WILL BE CONDUCTED WITHOUT SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT
Please do not send any documents to the Immigrant Visa Unit before your interview date.
On the day of the interview, place the required forms and documents in the exact order as indicated below; separate set, also in the correct order, should be prepared if there is more than one beneficiary. Documents in languages other than English must be accompanied by an English translation.
The Immigration Visa Unit does not discuss whether or not a visa will be issued and you should NOT give up your job, dispose of property, or make any final travel arrangements until a visa is actually issued to you. You will be informed at the conclusion of the interview when your visa will be ready.
1. The beneficiary/beneficiaries must appear at the Embassy for the interview.
2. 3 Recent front view color photographs, size 5 cm X 5 cm, with white background, regardless of age.
3. Passport (must have at least six months validity). For each beneficiary – original + photocopy of the biographic data page.
4. DS-160 : Online non-immigrant visa application form for each applicant.

5. Birth certificate – original & photocopy (for each beneficiary).
6. Marriage certificate / divorce decree / annulment of previous marriage / death certificate of previous spouse(s) from the beneficiary if any – original & photocopy.
7. Military record – original & photocopy (for each beneficiary) if any.
8. Supporting documents: (Form I-134) affidavit of support from the petitioner.

11. Police clearance certificates: All immigrant visa applicants age 18 and over are required to present a police clearance certificate (original & photocopy) from the country of their current residence (KUWAIT), if residence in this country exceeds six months. All immigrant visa applicants age 16 and over are also required to present police clearance certificates from countries of their previous residence, if residence there exceeded one year.
To request for Kuwait police certificate through the Ministry of Interior, you need a letter from us, please contact us at KuwaitIV@state.gov and mention your case number.

Provide photocopies of all the original documents, if you fail to do so, you will be charged $1 or KD0.300 cash per copy (do not make copies of the forms provided to you by the Immigrant Visa Unit.
12. Fee $265.00 or KD79.500 cash & exact change per person (fee is non-refundable). The payment will be done at the Embassy.

Please note that the medical examination is valid for 6 months.
Processing will take approximately one to two weeks. An authorized employee of
the American Embassy will collect all medical reports. It is not necessary to call the Embassy to check on the arrival of your medical report. Your interview will be conducted even if the medical report has been not received.

In order to assist the panel physican, and to avoid delays in the processing of an immigrant visa, all immigrant visa applicants should have their vaccination records available for the panel physician's review at the time of the immigrant medical examination. Visa applicants should consult with their regular health care provider to obtain a copy of their immunization record, if one is available. If you do not have a vaccination record, the panel physician will work with you to determine which vaccinations you may need to meet the requirement. Certain waivers of the vaccination requirement are available upon the recommendation of the panel physician.
Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.

Medical: Dr. Nafisi offered a same day medical appointment.
Parking: The Embassy opened a new 120-car parking lot for your convenience. During periods of high demand, however, you may be required to find on-street parking in the residential neighborhood surrounding the Embassy and walk to the main gate. Please plan accordingly.
Arrive early: Arrive thirty (30) minutes prior to your interview time. Proceed to window #2 at the Embassy’s main gate and present a copy of your appointment notice. You may have to wait for your personal interview so you are encouraged to bring reading material.
Identification: Bring a second form of identification (for example, Kuwaiti civil id) to leave with the guard before entering the Embassy in addition to your passport.
Prohibited items: You will pass through a security screening prior to entering the Embassy. Leave mobile phones, pagers, cameras and other electronic devices at home or in your vehicle. Visa applicants are not permitted to bring these items onto the Embassy compound.
Once inside the Embassy:
Take a number: Once you enter the Consular Section, take a number from the machine and have a seat in the waiting room. Once your number is called, proceed to the appropriate window to begin processing.
Complete all forms: Ensure that all required forms have been completed in their entirety before approaching the window. Have your photos and supporting documents in hand. Note: Incomplete or unsigned forms will not be accepted.
Interview: Be prepared to present all the required and recommended documentation at the time of your interview. At the end of your interview, the Consular Officer will inform you whether your application has been:
•Approved,
•Held pending additional information from you,
•Held pending administrative processing or
•Refused.
*Side note* Fiance was told at the interview that he was definitely approved, but had to wait for an internal check to be complete and they would issue the visa after that. Officer referred to it as "provisionally approved." Visa issued 2 days later. |
