Cheap and good hotels near the Consulate? |
Days Inn downtown. A short cab ride/drive from the Consulate.
Le Auberge de Jeunesse de Montreal (Montreal Youth Hostel)
Anyway, it's a *really* short cab ride from the hostel to the consulate and is EXTREMELY cheap to stay there. I flew up and stayed one night. It has the basic necessities. Nothing fancy, but you just need a roof over your head and a shower/bathroom. Worked out great.
Tour Centre Ville - Across the street from Consulate -(514) 866-8861
Nothing fancy, but clean and decent room for the night... will also hold onto your luggage. While cheap, please be aware of some recent problems with bedbugs at this hotel (see customer reviews on TripAdvisor).
While not as cheap as the others, the Le Square Phillip Hotel is a top rated hotel on TripAdvisor, just one block away. Great staff, huge rooms, comp breakfast starting at 6:30am and they will gladly store your luggage while you are at the embassy.
Hotel Travelodge on boul. Rene-Levesque -- a ten minute walk to the Consulate.
Courtyard Marriott is a three minute walk from the consulate -380 Rene-Levesque decent price plus reduces stress due to close proximity to the consulate
Guys,
If anyone is looking for a place to stay in when planing to visit US consulate in Montreal, Canada, I advise you to check this place on Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/15069762
This guy is renting his place for $49 CAD/night... it is very neat, and clean.. and it is a walking distance of 25 mins from US consulate and 20 mins from the Panel physician office. Also if you are coming by Greyhound from a different province, the bus station is literally two minutes from this place, and you can see it from the window of your room.
I highly recommend it... Spread the word, and help all Canadians immigrating to US! |
Additional Info? |
Arrive exactly 30 mins prior to your interview. Any earlier and security will turn you away. They hold your electronics so advise anyone waiting for you this may take up to 3 hours.

If flying into Montreal Trudeau airport and staying downtown near the US Embassy, consider taking the 747 Airport Bus shuttle. The shuttle runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and only costs $10 per person, pass is good for 24 hours, you could use for return trip (I did) vs. a taxi that costs $40 each way. There are several stops in downtown Montreal, including a stop 5 minute walking distance from the US Embassy:
http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/bus/shuttle/747-aeroport-p-e-trudeau-centre-ville-shuttle
As of 05/01/2019 the USC is no longer allowed in the consulate to attend the interview. Not sure if this applies if you have children or not. |
