Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHello! It s been a while since I last posted here. I m now a U.S. citizen, and I filed an I-130 for my mother in August 2023. I gave birth to my first child in 2022 and had planned to return to work after my mom s visa is approved. We received the I-130 approval last week, but my husband and I have decided that I will continue staying home with our child until he is 5. My son is currently 2.5 years old.
My question is, can I postpone my mother s visa interview? Or what would be the best route to take if we are not ready for her to come to the U.S. yet? I don t want to cancel her application because I know we ll need her help when I go back to work, but not for another 2-3 years. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

1 RepliesHi everyone,
I am a naturalized US citizen of Indian origin.
25 years ago I sponsored my mother to get permanent resident status. She is living with me since then. She never worked or obtained her citizenship. Last year she was diagnosed with cancer and she's now on Medicaid. Will I be liable for her medical expenses? It is more than 100 thousand dollars. She's still living and getting medical treatment. She's 77 years old.
I saw on USCIS website that sponsor is responsible for public charge including medicaid. She's never on public charge other than this. I always supported her living expenses.
Thanks in advance

3 RepliesHi everyone, I purchased my home before my wife got her her conditional green card and now that she s here we ve been paying the mortgage together from our joint bank account.
Will the bank statement showing the monthly payment to the loan be proof we are paying mortgage together? She s not on the actual loan because that would require refinancing. The bank statement says ELECTRONIC PMT-WEB, FLAGSTAR BANK NA LOAN PYMT and then the amount. Is this good proof?
We also have utility bills with both of our names on them but those are paid from my individual account only.
I-129F Correction - What Should I Submit? 12:29 pm today

1 RepliesI submitted my I-129F a couple weeks ago. I received the NOA1 text on 11/21, still waiting on the mailed I-797C receipt.
On Friday, I realized I needed to make a correction to my application. I misunderstood/misread the question about past citations; I should have answered yes instead of no (I had a non-criminal disorderly when I was a kid).
I called USCIS and talked to an agent. She said to submit the following:
- a copy of my I-797C receipt
- a letter detailing what exactly I want changed (including question no./page no./etc.)
- the court documents/etc. that I should have submitted with my original application
She said I shouldn't submit any revised versions of the I-129F, only the letter detailing the changes needed. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I've heard of the USCIS call center giving incorrect advice in the past. Since I'm waiting on my I-797C anyway, I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts.
