The interview at Mumbai consulate is very smooth and friendly. For 07:30 AM appointment, they form a line outside the consulate at 06:30 AM. If you can afford it, better stay in hotel Sofitel which is down the same street. You can reach the consulate gate by walking two minutes from the hotel. Around 07:00 AM I was allowed inside the building and given a token number. In a few minutes the token number was called. An Indian officer collected the passport, verified all the documents which were previously sent to NVC, asked for copies of marriage and birth certificates even though two copies each were mailed to NVC in advance. The original certificates were returned by the Indian officer. The officer asked a few basic questions like spouse's name etc. Then I was asked to wait for the interview with the consular officer. Waited for about 3 hours and my number was called at around 10:45 AM. The consular officer was very friendly, asked me to raise my hand and take the oath. The CO reads out the oath and all we have to say is 'I do' after which DS-230 is given to you for your signature under the oath. After the oath the consular officer asked the following:-

1. How long have your spouse been in the US?
2. Have you ever traveled to the US?
3. What was the maximum duration of your stay in your previous visits to the US?
4. Have you traveled to other countries? Maximum duration of stay in such visits?
5. Is this your first marriage? Is this your spouse's first marriage?
6. Show me some pictures of the wedding?
7. What does your spouse do in the US?
8. What do you do?
9. What are your plans after relocating to the US?
10. Does your spouse visit India frequently?
11. Did your spouse study in the US? If not, where did your spouse study and which universities did your spouse go to?

The discussion was very friendly, the officer was very cheerful and completed the interview in about 3 minutes. The officer conveyed that I have to enter the United States before expiry of my medical test which is 5 months from now and conveyed the passport and VISA will be ready for pickup in next few days.

Overall the process is very smooth.
