Apenas 3 dias ate nos vamos para Rio e apenas 6 dias ate a entrevista! :S

Eu acho tudo esta pronto, mais eu vou olhar mais e mais ainda ate sexta-feira!!

Del esta bem paranóica por causa do Rio também, Nessa. Eu entende, mais ele esta de mais! Ele nao quer andar de praia vermelha, ele nao quer ficar nem um minuto em fora do hotel depois por de sol, ect ect. Eu esporo que quando nos chegamos ele relaxa um pequeno. Eu acho nos vamos ir de taxi para a entrevista tambem. E tambem, que pena, o Cristo esta fechado por causa da chuva.

Meninas estou numa duvida cruel.

Minha entrevista sera no dia 13 de maio. Gostaria de ir no Dr. Joaquim pra fazer a consulta e os exames.

Voces acham que se eu fizer a consulta um dia antes eh mto arriscado?

Pq senao teria q voar pra la no dia 10, fazer a consulta no dia 11 e esperar a entrevista no dia 13.

Sera q fazer a consulta no dia 12 de manha eh mto arriscado?

A gente pretende ficar ate o dia da entrevista no Ibis Santos Dumont e depois mais uns dois dias em Copacabana. Seria otimo se pudesse fazer a consulta na vespera, assim a gente nao gastava mto com hotel.

Joaquim will get the medical exams done in time. You'll have to arrive early enough for a morning exam, and the lab tests are first come first serve. When we scheduled for the 7th (and was cancelled coz they were closed for the flooding/mudslides in Centro), L had the choice of an appointment at 9h/10h/13h (I'm assuming the others were booked) and would absolutely be able to pick up his results at 15h.

And for what it's worth, beinha also had a similar experience with Joaquim - her appointment was at 13h the day before her interview and she picked up the results at 16h.

paranoia de que? ser assaltado? ele mora em sao paulo, for christ's sake, he can't be paranoid about Rio. Tell him to take you out in Copacabana beach at night and enjoy a night out in a bar in front of the beach.

Thanks for your answer! We decided to fly out 2 days before the interview though. You know, this process is long and expensive, I don't want to face any last minute trouble. So I guess it's better to be safe than sorry right?

I'll keep you guys posted! I'm so nervous already! Only 22 days to go! OMG!

Olá meninas! Eu poderia postar isso no outro fórum, mas achei melhor perguntar aqui já que são todas "brasileiritchas" e com certeza podem responder melhor. É preciso traduzir os atestados de antecedentes criminais pra inglês antes de enviar pra NVC ou eles aceitam só em português mesmo, já que vão enviar tudo de volta aqui pro Brasil? (seria ótimo não ter que traduzir nada, menos dinheiro gasto né)

Voce nao precisa traduzir nada que estiver em portugues, so se tiver algum documento que nao seja nem em portugues ou ingles, como no caso de pessoas que moraram em outros paises e precisam de atestados criminais de quando estiveram la.

Meu caso ta parecendo uma novela. Faz mais de um ano que mandamos pro USCIS e nem chegou no NVC ainda.

If so, does it need a certified translation, or can anyone do it? For instance, my best friend was at one point worked as a translator (though for hospitals, not the government) - would she be able to do it? We found one in Brazil, and the prices are reasonable, but free's even better

Yes, if the birth certificate isn't in English, then it should be translated and notarized. As for criminal record, I thought you only had to send one for AOS if you have committed any sort of crime? I'm not sure though. Hopefully someone here will know about that one.

Another question: Do you think I could get a tourist visa to visit my husband while waiting for our CR-1 process to be complete? We have just started the process and I know how long it could take... we have a 4-month-old daughter and we don't want her to be apart from him for that long (i'm thinking "positive", maybe 8 months), so I was thinking of going to the US around June for a couple of months and then come back to wait for the interview. My daughter is an US Citizen and I would be the only one getting the tourist visa.

I know I'll have to prove at the Consulate that I have strong ties to Brazil (which, unfortunately I don't, because I'm currently unemployed and took a break from school, so the only important thing here to me is my family), but I mean, why would I jeopardize my immigrant visa process staying in the US illegally? I just want to visit my husband and my in-laws that haven't met their granddaughter yet.

So, any advice?

Mrs price -> eu sou a favor do "nao custa tentar", voce pode ir no consulado e tentar o visto. Levar as copias do NOA1 q vc recebeu, e dizer q vc vai voltar pra entrevista. Que esta tentando fazer tdo legalmente e que realmente so que ir pros USA pra dar a oportunidade dos seus in-laws conhecerem a sua filha. O maximo q eles podem fazer eh dizer nao. Isso nao vai interferir em nada no seu processo de imigracao.

Sobre as traducoes eu sei que pra mandar pro NVC nao precisa, ja que tdo sera encaminhado pro consulado. Agora AOS eu acho q sim, ja q tdo eh feito nos USA.

Nos mandamos os papeis do meu marido pro NVC (affidavit of support). O NVC me mandou um email dizendo q a gente might need a co-sponsor, q ficaria up to the CO se a gente precisa ou nao. (Ele ta morando comigo no BR por 9 meses, estamos usando os assets pra atingir a poverty guideline, mas como eles esta unemployed talvez a gente precise de um back-up)

O meu sogro ja mandou os papeis dele pra ser co-sponsor caso precise. O q vcs acham q devo fazer na entrevista?

Devo dar os papeis dele pra mocinha q confere os documentos ou esperar o consul falar alguma coisa sobre isso?

If anyone is needing a translator for a birth certificate, I did mine with a "juramentada" person from Florianopolis, all through mail, very simple. Just send me a private message and I can send you back the info of her.
