The Good new is i have set up a date for the interview. The bad news is, it is 7 months from now. Right now, they are not scheduling any appointments in Havanna for any visa interviews, and the U.S. interest section gave me a number to call to set up interview appointment. I call the number and the earlies date they could give me is June 2, 2008. I almost had a heartattack when they told me that. Does anyone out there know if it's possible to get an earlier date for the interview in Havanna.

Wow. That is a way aways. I don't know if it would help but maybe try contacting your senators or rep for help.

Good luck!

Um.

I'd suggest a little web research before you pick up the phone and call your elected officials.

It shouldn't be that hard to ascertain if this is typical behavior for a consulate.

He can do both in tandem. It may very well be business as normal with the Havanna consulate, but it's still a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait for an interview. The worst that can happen is the representative comes back and says they looked into it and there's nothing they can do.

I cannot believe this.... I have excruciatingly been waiting for over a month for NVC to give me a case number so I can call for an interview appointment in Havana. Do I absolutely need to have a case number to make an appointment?

Please let us know if/how you can speed up the interview....

I guess I don't believe in ringing my congressman's bell until it's do-or-die time and the fire is licking the roof tops. They get soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many requests about cases not to mention there are consular officers who sometimes don't take kindly to elected reps picking in their daily work heap.

I'd rather save my phone call to a congressman when my case has hit such a ridiculous proportion that they can't resist helping me.

I think the OP needs to research first. And I'm sticking with that.

There are quite a few consulates who schedule interviews months in advance - for example, there was a huge waiting list for an interview at the Montreal consulate which stretched a good six to eight months ahead.

Was there a reason offered for why they weren't scheduling interviews currently?

Nini - Vancouver BC, Canada (she's the one who does the forum thing)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Here we go again...

Thanks guys for your replies.

The person i spoke to at the embassy couldn't give me a reason for such a long wait for the interview. I will look into the matter closer, i will be in havanna soon and will try to investigate. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again.

I don't think you could set up appointment until the consulant recieves your case from the NVC.

Fair enough, and good advice. :)

Did you obtain your interview appointment directly at the Interest section in Havana? you should call 1 866 374 1769, buy an $11.00 pin number and make the appointment, i just did and they gave me an appointment in February. As soon as you receive your Case number you can call and make the appointment.

Hope this will help you!! Enjoy your trip to Havana! I will love to go too for the hollidays!!!

Best wishes!!!!

Rebeccajo. I tend to agree with you. I believe something like this came up in a thread months ago when we discussing reasons why Cuban requests seemed to get faster treatment for NOA2's. Cuban's tend to get their NOA2's faster due to the amount of time it takes on the other side. So I believe this is indeed normal for cuba.

By all means call your rep if you feel the need to but maybe do some digging for info first. I'll try to dig out the thread that this came up in.

I wish you success in the rest of your journey.

Is there anything I could do to set it up quicker..The number I called to set up the interview using my pin which costs $11 seems to be call centre in Mexico and the person setting up the interview date cannot even speak proper english...Very poor customer service ....
