Interview experience in Zagreb, Croatia

I had my interview today at 10 am in Zagreb, Croatia. After I entered the embassy they sent me to the window 7 to hand in all the forms I got in the package (after they receive the petition from NVC they send just one package with all the forms that I need to fill out and bring with me to the interview and instructions for the medical). The instructions are not really clear but they call you after they receive the petition and explain everything. At the window 7 was a nice Croatian lady I hand in all the papers to and she really new her job. They asked also just for Affidavit of Support without tax return or any supporting evidence. I didn't have right receipt from the bank (my mistake) so I have to bring it tomorrow and pick up the visa. Otherwise visa is done right away.

After I hand in all the papers I waited exactly one minute to be called for the interview.

I was asked following questions:

How did you meet?

When did he propose and where?

Did you live together there (we met in Germany)? Yes

What was I doing in Germany?

Where does he work?

Did he meet my parents?

When did we see each other last time?

Is he married?

Does he have any children? Not that I know :) (they laughed)

After that the CO (really nice lady) said everything looks good and said congratulations! She didn't ask for any evidence, although I had more the enough (you never know). I was in and out of the embassy in 25 minutes!

It was really easy experience and there was just one more person for immigrant visa there.

Oh that's wonderful!!!

I'm so glad for you and wish you all the best for your new life and the upcoming wedding!!

Do you already have your wedding dress?

I have already picked one but am hesitant to buy it as I'm quite superstitious as

we don't even have the NOA2 yet....

Do you guys plan on having two weddings like we do? One in the US, of course, and then we are planning on having a nice traditional church wedding in Croatia with my family and friends, once I'm allowed to travel out of the US. I hope this will be somewhat next summer ....hopefully.

My fiance has to get baptized extra for that, and he said he'd do it for me!

(...ako treba ja cu mu biti krstena kuma ...32.gif)

My folks in Croatia just can't wait for the "American wedding ", as they call it....

I'm very happy for you, Nives! Keep us posted! :D

Thank you Rahela!!!

We are planing on having two weddings also, first civil wedding on December 15th just so we can apply for AOS ASAP. For that I'm planing to buy some simple dress and next year probably in October (depend on green card) also church wedding for family and friends but in Dominican Republic. I was thinking maybe to do it in Croatia (Zagreb or Dubrovnik) but considering everybody (especially my girlfriends :))seems to like the idea about going to the Dominican Republic we decided to do it there. John is catholic and has all the sacraments.

That's really nice of your fiance to get baptized extra for the wedding!!

John and I attended my cousin "Croatian wedding" in June and he loved it (eating, drinking and dancing the whole night  ) He couldn't believe that in Croatia dinner is at 8 pm than celebrating until 5 am and in between every 2 hours we get more food. That was so funny.

I hope you'll get your NOA2 soon.

Hey, a wedding in Dominican Republic sounds great!!

Mitch is originally from Miami,FL but he's has been living in Fredericksburg,Virginia for quite a while now. Even though I'd surely prefer Florida we are planning on staying in Virginia....where will you guys be living??

Mitch being from Florida we've decided to have a beach wedding in the Ft Lauderdale area where his Mom lives

( for the US part of the wedding), and then the Croatian wedding in Pozega with my family.

Listen, that Croatian part will just be the SHOCKER for my poor Americans....they don't have a clue what's waiting for them... live-band music and booty swinging, tons of heavy food and lots of rakija...:lol:

I've explained to them what a CRO wedding looks like, and ever since that the American guest list is mysteriously becoming longer and longer....

My folks are just waiting for our ok to swing into action and to have everything organized, and they keep asking me how much longer it will take to finally get that visa, sometimes it seems that they are more excited than I am

....

Congratulations!!! 25min, wow.

Thank you everybody for congratulations. I guess it was so fast because everybody else where for tourist/student/business visas and just me and another lady for an immigrant visa which is handled separately from other forms of visas. I've heard there is a really low percentage of people from Croatia asking for immigrant visas. The embassy in Zagreb was doing visas for Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia. Now just for Slovenia and Croatia.

Springfield, Virginia?? Doesn't that sound like a lucky coincidence? :)
